Ex-Professionals that moved on since BF... Awesome thread; its ones like this which give a lot more depth into what's affected/concerned the typical onliner and therefore hits closest to home. As far as my experiences go, I got into poker end of '06. A buddy of mine in law school used to dominate the 5-10 NL games on party poker and I'd watch him play during off times, he had me read some books and soon I was off to play MTTs. I've always been very happy with where I stood in online poker and considered myself one of those true MTT grinders (mainly from Bodog and UB with FT and stars mixed in). I rarely played for those huge ... Posted in: Poker Community |

Is anyone else having this much trouble getting paid by Lock? This does not justify why I can't get a check thats been "processing" for over 2 weeks, and I did not make them aware of my intentions until recently. I've made payouts on both casino side and poker side without trouble in the past, although recently they asked me to use only the casino side since I'm "predominantly a poker player." Is anyone else having this much trouble getting paid by Lock? So here's the update and it's not good at all. I've been in contact with Rizen and he's been the only guy I really trust over there though I worry his abilities are limited. He got them to process my payout finally (about a week before my initial post). I also emailed them stating my intention to remove the remainder of my funds as I'm not interested in playing their site anymore. Still no check. I have since tried to email and leave a voice message for them with no response (no surprise but I am trying on my end in good faith). What I did see in my email today, however, is an email ... Is anyone else having this much trouble getting paid by Lock? Obviously it's been harder to get payouts since Black Friday and it seems like Lock Poker has been getting worse as well. I actually got to a point where I stopped playing because I just wasn't getting paid in a timely manner. I told them I'm done and started draining my account, and after over 6 weeks and the help of Eric I finally got my payout into processing. I'm now at 7 weeks and still nothing... Scammed by William Givens - imahustla1 One thing the vouching issue makes evident: There are clearly two different opinions as to what the term means. For me, I always thought it effectively meant affirming a person's trustworthiness unless it was used in a very specific context; nothing more. Further, because the other definition of vouching is so extreme/burdensome, it is only logical that a person should NOT be expected to take on the financial obligations of another unless they expressly communicate it, preferably signed in writing. I understand the issue doesn't apply here, and to the best of my knowledge all the ... Posted in: Poker Community |

Scammed by William Givens - imahustla1 Even if he's just slow to respond, I think some poker players fail to understand that when your staked you have obligations to your backers to keep them informed of everything that's going on. If he fails to enter an agreed-upon tournament, he needs to communicate this as well. The true professionals are those who treat poker as a job and understand any obligations they take on. If they can't handle that - even simple communication - then don't ask for a stake. Posted in: Poker Community |

Hawaiisgreat scammed me for $1150 Maybe we can ask Eric if anything can be done/verified regarding it. I don't know hawaii - I've seen him a lot on Lock at tables/trying to friend me but obv. I dunno the guy so it never got past that. I do, however, know ktyven through UB/AP/Bodog and we've traded site-to-site funds for several years and have zero concerns about money xfers with him so if I see that ktyven's going off this hard about hawaii it raises huge red flags for me... Is this collusion? (SNG) Very standard and keep in mind they're still playing with their own best interests in mind - mainly, they want to cash. So if they check down and the other opponent wins and knocks out the short-stack, they're content because they just cashed. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Verbally Checking Out Of Turn From my experience its not binding and agree its total BS. I think they should punish players who do this and you can actually call floor on them for acting out of turn. The strictness/leniency often depends on the casino and, unfortunately, if they're buddy-buddy with the floor. Posted in: Live Poker |

Casino Ruling Agreed I've run into players similar to this and it annoys the hell out of me. I have nothing wrong with flipping cards to get reads or even flipping cards to trick the Opp to calling/folding but you have to draw a line somewhere. We're playing poker not "Simon Says" and pulling technicalities on opponents is just weak. I think with the OP the dealer should've acted faster and mucked the AA instead of sitting there, knowing what was being done. You do have to protect your hand after all. Posted in: Live Poker |

Are AP/UB getting off scot-free? Steve - Whether we like it or not the DOJ has grounds to hold onto the money taken from the sites. This was not a pure UIGEA issue; these poker sites have been charged (quite rightly) of tax evasion in the United States. The DOJ said that to settle these charges they're looking at a number somewhere around $3 billion minimum from the sites. What pokerstars likely did (and the other sites clearly did not) is account for the possibility that the DOJ would go after their US funds and thus they had funds set aside to pay the US players. fulltilt and UB/AP, in contrast, were spending more ... Need help adding poker to resume Couple of thoughts: 1. If you need filler you can also include an "Objectives" Section and shape it towards the employment position your seeking. 2. I noticed you had some good scholastic achievements for undergrad - you could provide more details in this area as well if you were active in any extracurricular activities that you may have been involved in. 3. Hobbies and Interests: Sometimes people add this section at the end of their resume and it may not be a bad idea for you in this case where you want to discuss your poker/casino background and experiences. 4. I noticed that your ... Posted in: Poker Community |

Turned down a chop and got owned so hard. I had a situation in Vegas where most of the table was tourist-types 6H and I was CL when they stopped clock to deal. Blinds were still crazy high I had about 10-12BBs so when they pushed for the chop I got slightly more than the others but what I also did was argue for each of them to tip the dealers an extra 15 on my behalf because "they did such a great job blah blah blah" so after the chop tipped I tipped small but the dealers and players were both happy and I got a bit more out of the deal indirectly. I still would not have chopped if not for everybody pressuring me but I feel I did ... Posted in: Bad Beats |

College Students who grind Couple of points: 1. Even if your staked you still have to exercise BR management. Someone mentioned you don't have to manage your roll if staked thats absolutely false. 2. In light of recent events this is literally THE worst time to consider poker as a profession, whether part-time or full-time. Some friends of mine were complaining lately about how even moderate tournaments were just full of solid regulars so the fields have been more challenging and the edge considerably narrowed. Same holds true for SNGs/cash. 3. Whatever you decide - not to play poker or to play a certain ... Posted in: Poker Community |
