Re:Suggestions for Cake...
hey lee, being a regular at cake, and it currently being the only site i play it, its nice to hear some of the things that you are addressing about the client. i know you havent announced a release date yet for the new client, and thus you cannot tell us when you expect it to go up, but can you give us a "roundabout" to when you expect it to be ready' are we talking a few months, 6 months plus, a year plus' and also, can you tell us some of the things that are different about it' what is going to make it better than the one we have now' any insight you could give us would be greatly ...

Re:anybody from the chicago area care to rate the poker rooms.
no, i do play online almost 97% of the time, just looking cause me and a few friends were looking to go to a casino this weekend, and were looking for the best card room. i called up most of them, and talked to the poker rooms about usual friday night selection, seems most have at least a table or two or 1/2 and 2/5, but just wondering if anyone had any insight as to each casinos rake, how bad the players are, and just overall comfort and selection of each room that theyve played at. i am also looking for cash games, not tournies, but thanks for your input anyways.

Re:Bank requested a phone interview, and I am talking with them tomorrow/will update.
so because different banks "police" things more leniently that others, it would be to us poker players advantage to do business with those banks' any body have a good list of banks that are more lenient with online gaming' anybody have a good relationship with their bank where they have never been questioned or given any hassle about depositing checks or requesting wire transfers or anything like that' thanks

Re:Bank requested a phone interview, and I am talking with them tomorrow/will update.
for all of those that are saying to just close that account and go to another bank, what good does that do if all banks are under the same laws' i dont know very much about how each bank would handle online gambling transactions, so someone help me out with that one. i was under the impression that all banks are supposed to follow the laws in regards to online gambling the same way. so what good would it do to go to another bank. any insight would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Re:2009 ME espn coverage
seriously, norman chad needs to go. he tells the same jokes over and over, and his shrill, high pitched voice doesnt really do it for me. if you remember, or can go back and watch like the 03 coverage, i think the year moneymaker won it, he was much more docile back then, and actually analyzed hands without interjecting stupid jokes every 4 seconds. seriously, i want to mute the tv and just watch the poker, but then you cant hear anything interesting the players say at the table, although all we've heard this year is joe hachem talking about how good he is and how bad he runs. that ...

Re:interesting spot with tt, insight welcome
well, i ended up shoving against my gut feeling, and he snapcalled, and i knew i was dead. he did have AA, and i felt stupid for shoving. such a tough spot though, its so hard to lay down a set there, but i disregarded my gut, and for that i was angry with myself. however, when the river came the case ten, i got shipped the 200bb pot. 1 time i guess.

interesting spot with tt, insight welcome
hey all, i was playing some .5/1 100nl 6max. i was 3-4 tabling, so i had a little bit of a feel for the people at my table. this spot came up, and i am looking for some thoughts on the hand. i dont feel like digging for the hand history right now, so ill just write it up. sb posts bb posts utg folds utg+1 raises to $3.5 co calles $3.5 button folds sb folds. bb (me) raises to $16 with ten ten. utg+1 reraises to $30 co folds bb (me) calls $14. my line of thinking preflop was that the guy who opened seemed a little loose. i had played at this table for at least 15 minutes, and i got ...

Re:Building a bankroll playing double or nothings?
ahhh, this brings me back. thats exactly how i got started, after a few quick runups and cash out on ft, i moved to cake for the rakeback, and i started with just $100 playing only the $5 don's. after about two months of that, only 3 tabling, playing maybe 10-15 a day, i had a starting br for 50nl 6max. just neat to see someone else doing exactly what i did when i started. good luck to you sir. and yes, the $5 dons (at least on cake, im sure pretty much on any site) are profitable. if you have a good understanding of very basic icm, of don payout structure, theres no need to start at the ...

Re:Standard Lines In Cash Games
you really think folding with the ako situation is the best play' could you elaborate on that please' are you thinking that his range is that tight on the button, ~jj-aa, aqs+' against that range, you think a fold is best' i guess it depends on how you evaluate a random player, most people lean towards them being worse than a regular, some people wait to see if they are worse than a regular. just curious as to why you see that as a clear fold. elaborate please.

i was looking for more of a players reference, not just a rundown of pocket 5s rakeback offers. anyone here have a good suggestion for cash games. i hear bodog is very soft, but i have also heard about their cashouts taking forever and not that great customer service. im looking for the softest site that also has a solid reputation, any help'

thinking about playing at a new site, any suggestions
hey, i play exclusively at cake, have now since february-ish, and have noticed the 50nl and 100nl has gotten tougher and tougher. i went there originally hearing all of the good stories about how fishy the cash games were, and have done ok there for the last few months. during the day though anymore, the tables are filled with regs and the table stats are getting worse and worse, for profitability i mean. so anyway, i was just wondering if anyone had any insight into any other sites that have very soft cash games, besides full tilt, i already have an account there and cant get rakeback. am ...

Re:cake poker support=best in the business
the way they worded it in the email, saying "as a loyal customer", i dont think that they are going to just give this to random people. ive played there almost daily for 5+ months, and i feel im just being rewarded for being a loyal customer.

cake poker support=best in the business
i just wanted to share a little story with the p5s community about how cake poker treats their players. i am a regular at cake, its the only place i play anymore, and ive been playing 50 nl there for the last 5 months or so. their customer service it absolutely top of the line, anytime i have an issue or something weird happens, i send them a message, and withing 10-15 minutes i get a response and they get things rolling. well last night i was playing 50nl and something "weird" happened. it was a 6handed table, mp limped and i isolated in the cutoff with aq of hearts. everyone ...

Re:tough spot 50 nl hand, looking for advice.
i read aq on the flop lead because he led out into a 3way pot first to act. to me, that more than likely signaled aq, cause with aj/jj/aa/33, monster hands, he wouldnt want to scare anyone away. thats just the feeling i got as soon as he bet $4. maybe that read is wrong, but thats just how i felt at the time, so i trusted it. after he re shoved, i kept aq in his range for the reasons i mentioned before, but also added the broadway diamond hands. he probably had some fold equity shoving that much with those hands, so i felt that 2 diamonds was a possibility at that point. and at that first ...

tough spot 50 nl hand, looking for advice.
hey this was a 6max table 50nl. me and the villain had just played a big pot a few minutes prior at a different table, where i made a big call against him, having read the hand well, and he started calling me names afterwards. overall he seemed like an active player, very capable of bluffing. here, he opened utg and i chose to just flat call, thinking that he is probably calling a 3bet given his utg opening range, and i want to mix up how i play ak sometimes. i have position on him and by flatting, i can control the pot size better. we got another lp caller, and saw this flop. he led out $4 ...

yeah, i know its not a big sample size, but it does represent me playing for 2 1/2 weeks a couple hours a day, so it does feel a little more stretched out. just trying to give hope to those in a downswing, thats all.

some hope for those currently on a downswing.
seems like most people like to brag and only focus on their coolers and downswings. well, here is a bit of a pick-me-up to you guys. last 10,884 hands. played from august 13-august 31, playing almost only 50nl 6max. 13.21 big bets/100 hands played. with rakeback and bonuses, 15.76 big bets/100 hands played. apparently ive been running well..... keep your head up downswingers, the only thing a downswing means is that an upswing is on the way.

Re:im buying a few poker books today, any suggestions
i feel special having tj mullen posting in my thread. and yeah, i was looking at a cash game book, i looked around some more, and the book that people kept talking about was "no limit hold 'em theory and practice" by sklansky and ed miller. i went and bought it today, havent gotten around to reading it yet, but it seems like exactly the book i was looking for. thanks for those that offered their suggestions.

im buying a few poker books today, any suggestions
i've looked around and used the search feature. seems everyone recommends sklansky's "the theory of poker". i will purchase that for sure. i am also looking for a strictly cash game book, and most people seem to agree that harrington's cash game book is one of the best if not THE best book for cash game advice. i am currently playing 50nl 6 handed tables, 4 tabling. ive beaten that pretty good over about 60,000 hands, and am looking to move up. im pretty solid on sklansky, so does anyone have their number one book for cash games at my level' thanks guys.
