Re(2): S&g turbo experts what would u do can i ask a non-this-question-question' :) what do you look for in an opponent during a sit-n-go that would establish he is 'capable of raise/folding'' in most SnGs, especially turbos, against players w/out a history there are very few spots where you can determine that no' given that, do we start with the basic assumption that in a 225$ SnG, players should have a reasonable expectation of play and we should note accordingly if they do NOT adhere to it. in other words, if we've never played with this opponent before, and have little to no reads at this stage, my standard play would be to ... Re(1): 5/10 PLO Hand Discussion Sick Spot to me, based on the action, it's painfully obvious the guy has AA, what other hand can he possibly have unless he's running a bluff' is stratkomb99r a player who is very laggy/spewy' If not, I fold river here always (though personally I'd probably take a different line flop/turn to see earlier in the hand if he has the AA) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): Any successful poker players ever lose passion for the game and just quit? jerry yang' :) to the OP, perhaps you could try mentoring/teaching' talk to bax/sheets/nsx/others who have done that perhaps to get their perspective. the other suggestions by GP and brsavage are good as well. fwiw, what you describe happens to about everyone in any profession. i know many people in different walks of life who have gone through what you are now with poker. many of them completely change professions {some multiple times} and even lifestyles {from rich company CEO type to broke community college professor, for example} Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Joe Sebok it's well known that barry isn't joe's real dad, not invading his privacy at all. google and you'll find all you need to know about barry and joe (and probably more than you care to know i'm sure) fwiw, and totally off topic, but Barry's house is really nice, they did a video shoot of it for CardPlayer (or one of those). and Barry seems like a good guy, he answers a ton of posts over at 2+2 and his appearances on HSP and PAD have included some words for the online community. now if he can ever admit to his real Erdos number, then, well, nevermind :) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): Khan wtf was that blow up? makes more sense now The final two players are negotiating a deal with the assistance of Lee Jones, who is using the calculator function of his iPhone to run the numbers. It seems like they're working out some kind of save, and then they'll play for the title and the rest of the money. Pretty standard stuff, except you'd never witness dealmaking in the open like this at the WPT (where it's banned) or the WSOP (where it's ignored). Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(5): Kenny Rap's 3 way all in call/FT 109r he can answer, but imo with his play, he's never folding at any point in the hand. in the example above, if first to act, he shoves and may actually get better hands to fold. the other thing about this play that is seen often (at least in low $ mtts) is that shorty std open raises, and gets multiple callers. once the flop comes and the shorty shoves, the other players can often make plays to isolate against the shorty and drive out hands that might have won at showdown. For example, say he raises with 66 and is called by 3 people. say the flop is As7s8d and he open shoves and another big ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Kenny Rap's 3 way all in call/FT 109r "I agree that this call can rarely be +ev, pot odds or not IMO" math please' my calcs assume he's not folding say they fold 75% of the time, he picks up 11,500, +cEV of +$8,625 i'll forgo the 'normal' case of one person shoving (which range-wise still makes a call +ev) and focus just on the actual hand as it played out with those specific hands known. 25% of the time the above happens and he calls. he has 20% equity in the hand and will lose 35k - 80% of the time for a -cEV of 7k in that case, but 20% of the time he wins for a +cEV of 8300 or so. if he knows the exact hands he's up ... Re(2): Look at this play, omaha 200/400 totally player dependant, obviously, but people do semi-bluff in PLO :) as played he's only a 60% or so fav over the OESD+QQ b/c of no flush draw. given that a 9 takes his equity down to like 20% or so, he was lucky/good to pick off the bluff like he did *and* have the hand hold up. i'd guess there is some history between the opponents to allow him to make this raise here. Re(1): Rate My Bluff from PCA is this really KCannon's hand from the 2007 PCA' because he tried to bluff against the old guy with AA then as well and had similar results IIRC :) i'm obv not good enough to have a comment taken seriously, but at this blind level / stack depth, against a player who, truthfully, is an unknown, your plays seems extremely bad given your abilities/training. patience is a great virtue in live tournaments, it's a marathon not a sprint :) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(5): serious PLO question that's assuming people aren't paying attention / will give you action on those made hands. in many sessions i've had, playing a 'normal tightish game' doesn't get your big hands paid off at all. giving action to get action is very true very often. i agree that in the lower stakes games people aren't really paying attention, but allowing certain people to think you are a donkey with bad calls early in smallish pots can really allow you to clean up later as they pay off your monster hands because of your first hand where you post out of position and call a small river bet with 2nd pair :) Posted in: Poker Discussion |
