Re(1): Turned my poker winnings into twins Congratulations. I have twin girls who just turned three a few months ago. Get as much rest as you can right now, because when they're born, your household will be chaotic at best. And you'll find your playing time on line quite limited. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): What do you listen to when you play? It's situational for me. My computer is in my living room, so if my wife's up while I'm starting to play, I turn my iPod on and listen to Bach's Brandenburg Concertos mostly or some other classical music. She's usually watching TV, and I don't need to be distracted by what's on the tube. When she finally goes to bed, I turn off the music. I learned long ago not to play while our daughters are awake (twin three year olds). Way too distracting. :) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Controversy about Jennifear's article. Maybe I'm missing something, but all this math tends to make my head swim. I know there's value to all this math, but I find that I tend to disregard it (no offense intended to Jennifear, if it works for you, then all the more power to you). I'm fairly good with math, but I never really made it past pre-calc (calculus befuddled me in college, but I think it had something to do with 8:00 AM class time). I can do percentages and figure odds fairly quickly, and for me, I think that's good enough. I tend to rely on betting habits of my opponents and whether I can get a good feel for what they ... Re(1): This is funny as hell.. BFD. You made a silly bet and spiked a full boat on the flop. The odds of this happening is 1087-1. You got VERY VERY lucky. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): KK right play but LOLAMENTS, what are the odds of this ... :( When they were playing the PPT, I took a bunch of notes, mostly about the odds of this and that. From one of the graphics, the odds of an opponent having the same pocket pair as you is 1324 to 1. Pretty damn slim, but it can happen. I had a hand once where I had pocket aces. I'll let the hand history do the rest of the talking for me... Re(2): Its Official POKERSTARS ARE CHEATERS As far as I can see, you didn't play that like a donk. You slow played, he slow played. He just had higher quads then you. The odds are somewhere around 100,000 to 1 that this will happen, and considering the number of hands played on PS, it's going to happen. It's ridiculous. It's frustrating. It's whatever you want to say it is. It's just a really, really bad beat. I once lost with quad 8s to someone spiking a striaght flush on the river. And that was in a cash game, where I lost about $35 in a 0.25/0.50 game. And the game goes on. PokerStars are not cheaters. I can go on and on about ... Posted in: Bad Beats |

Re(2): what the hell? I don't know. I'm guessing he folded on purpose. I've accidently hit "fold" when I meant to hit "check" (the hazards of playing a little tired sometimes). I've always gotten a message on Poker Stars essentially saying that checking is free, do I want to go ahead and fold anyways' And it gives me the same options again, Check or Fold. I've always checked, and tried to wake up a little more. My guess (and this is kind of a wild guess) is that he had crap for a hand and didn't want to show the cards. Maybe (wild guess again) he had a 7-3 offsuit and was hoping something would hit. As we ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): ? regarding Monkey's article Jeffrey, I enjoyed the article very much. I played satellites once (three in total, the $10.70 DS) to gain a seat at the Sunday Millions on PokerStars back in January. I was thinking much of the same thing, building a bankroll of T$ to get into other tournaments cheaply (I play the 8:00 $25+$2.50, 18K guarentee on a semi-regular basis, I've played 12 thus far, scored in 3 for a 27% ROI). Sorry if sounds like a dense question, but how do you translate the T$ into actual money' I was told when I won the satellite seat that if I unregistered, it would be for T$ only. I know there's sites that ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): i need a teacher to help me win.... >should i just be going all in pre'..... >don't worry adam I don't think its rigged I'm kind of a newbie, but I think there's arguments for both sides. With the blinds 20/40, you're quite early in the tournament. Me, personally, if I had the suited connectors, I would have limped in and folded to any raises preflop (I seem to have the damnedest time with suited connectors, so I'm very careful with them). Going all in preflop, you may have won you the hand, but not many chips. I think you did the right thing preflop. The other two were most likely speculating (something you need to do ... Re(1): OUCH, GG NUT FLUSH Ouch, definitely. I just hate when that happens. I got busted out of a tournament at Foxwoods last summer (first time to a live casino). Early in the tournament, the flop gave me the nut flush, I went all in and someone called. The turn card gave him a straight flush. Man, this game is as much fun as it is aggravating. Re(1): F PokerStars and it's rigged for action bs Ummm... I think I see the problem here. You entered a $1 tournament. I don't want to sound sarcastic(perhaps I should), but you're going to see a lot of stupid calls like this at this level, and some of them are going to hit. Posted in: Bad Beats |
