I'd never heard of this guy until a few weeks ago - was on his table throughout most of a pretty big UB tourney, the monday $500 I think, and the guy was a complete dick to me in chat almost non-stop for several hours, including throughout the final table. In the end, he tried to tell me that he was sorry or something, I said something like, it's fine, whatever... and then 30 seconds later he slowrolled me with AA. I looked him up, expecting to find out he was an 18 year old kid, and I see he's like 30 or something. And the first thing I found on a google search was him bragging ... It got a limited release in the US in early 2000, and that's what the Academy Awards goes by... not that it received any recognition obv... so that's what I go by. :) Cant believe you've seen part of City of God and Pan's Labyrinth, but not all the way through! Get to them immediately! I can never just watch part of a movie unless it's just terrible or I'm falling asleep and just can't make it through - in the latter case, I'd finish it the next day fo sho. Re:Bubba and skeeze present: The Top 20 Films of the Decade I definitely agree that Carlito's Way is a better film than De Palma's Scarface and Pacino's performance is better in Carlito's Way, although I'd place the original Scarface from the early '30s as better than both... I've never thought of any comparisons to Road to Perdition though, but I've only seen that once and was underwhelmed, though it wasn't a bad movie by any means... may have to revisit eventually. I don't mean to hijack the thread to post my own list, but I didn't think I should start a new topic on it, especially considering I don't plan to write anything up like you're doing! So here's my list so far, although like you, I still have tons of films to see from the decade. For the record though, I've seen 808 films released during the decade. Obviously I recommend everything on this list, especially the ones near the top. In order of preference, although of course there's no exact science, and I'm sure I'd switch some around ... The writing has made me next to nothing, and is not worth the time or effort by any means... nonetheless, I'm happy to have the book (and soon book(s)) out there. And backing has lost me a ton of money - I used to back up to 10 players, thankfully it's only 3 now, and 2 of them don't even play that much. I'm sure there are some people that have made money longterm off of backing, but the vast majority lose on it, and many lose big. As for live play, I do okay, but nothing great by any ...
