Re:Thoughts on cake poker
cash games have gotten a lot harder and are no longer donkfests like they used to be, mostly just tons of regs. I'm sure MTTs and SNGs are easy if that's your thing, as it's connected to sportsbook and I imagine lots of the idiot degen gamblers go to play tourneys and SNGs because that's like what they see on TV. But I don't play them so I can't tell you. You will have some software crashes, so just be prepared.

He clarified the freeroll comment by talking about how if you don't have any money you have to start somewhere and how online pros built their rolls from nothing, etc. He said the 40k or whtaever wasn't a lot COMPARED TO THE TOP PRIZES. Barry is honest and intelligent, I like his commentary.

UMW fees are a flat $30 no matter the size of withdrawal, and my bank takes $5 as well. Not bad for a withdrawal that size, and you get it much much faster than check.

Re:Cashout times on Cake?
UWM/QT is much much faster and easier. Cashed out of Cake on the evening of 8/21, it was in my account on the afternoon of 8/22, cashed out to my bank account now and it will be in there by Wednesday of next week. All in all pretty good, have done this several times with no problems, much better than the lame check processor, which shows it's not the poker site's fault, it's the choice of processors that makes the difference.

Re:Cake Poker?
Cake is my favorite site. With a good computer I have never once had software problems, it is smooth for me and although not as good as FT's software I like it a lot better than Stars to be honest. Play is very soft up to midstakes levels. I am winning at 1/2 for around 7ptbb/100 for over 100,000 hands we'll see if it sticks around. Bonuses are pretty worthless but if you play midstakes you can get some okay stuff at the Cake Shop like a Wii or just ITunes giftcards without too much play but it's nothing amazing. Customer service is nice.

Re:WSOP main event day 1A thread
Queens Reign for Pearljammer On a flop of , the dealer raised the "All-In" paddle aloft, indicating a player had all his chips in the middle. Jon "Pearljammer" Turner had his opponent covered. His opponent showed . Unfortunately for him, Turner had for quad queens. The made things interesting, but the meant we had another first-level elimination. Turner is now up to 37,000.

WSOP main event day 1A thread
Thought it might be nice to start a thread where everyone can post updates on their day if they played, etc, and keep things in one spot. I had to LOL at this hand reported by PokerNews. I love terrible players. Dustin Dirksen has done it again. After a player in early position raised to 300, he reraised to 1,100 from the cutoff. Only the early position player called. The flop came down . The early position player fired out a bet of 500, or about 25% of the pot. Dirksen just called. The turn fell , bringing the fireworks. The early position player overbet the pot for 5,000. Dirksen ...

Re:anyone ever notice players with huge scores in '05,'06 who can't even beat a 4.40 now?
That's why it's so worth it to learn cash games. With so many sites out there to help you, it shouldn't be that hard to make it to something like 200NL and be able to make $10,000 a month if you really wanted to. Or if you didn't even want to aim that high, games like 50NL are ridiculously soft and can net you a few thousand a month if that's all you're looking for. I wonder how much of it is the high of a big score and trying to get that again so that grinding steady profits day in and day out isn't as much of a "high" when in the end it would bring so ...

Re:Thoughts about not checking to the raiser from Gus Hansen
Yeah if you watch any old WPT show Gus is constantly calling raises OOP and then donking 1/3-1/2 pot on whatever flop. I think it gets you into a lot of tricky spots and its totally unprofitable to play so many hands OOP against good players, but it's not totally unreasonable in some spots.

Re:Matt Matros or Bill Edler?...anyone know the answer?
It's been a while since I read Matros', but wasn't he basically saying that having a 50/50 shot at doubling up was worth it because the extra stack size lets him play his game better and that you're not guaranteed a better shot later of doubling' Also that he tracked his tourneys to see how many of them he doubled his initial stack at any point and it was under 50%, something like that...'
