Stupid things civillians have said to u bout B/F or the FT meltdown When I told my friend that I had a bunch of money tied up in online poker when it got shut down this now ex-friend told me "They shouldn't have been stealing money from the players." I explained "None of the sites that I played on had ever stolen from players (obviously I never played on ultimate bet)." She continued,"I heard that they were stealing from all the players, well they shouldn't have been doing what they were doing anyway." I continued to argue, but she failed in understanding logic. LFG in South Bend, Indiana I played at Blue Chip last week and the games are DEFINITELY soft but I'm not willing to drive almost an hour when there's a game that's only slightly tougher, 20 minutes from me. I appreciate the input though. On top of that, there's a 2/5 game and a PLO game that gets going sometimes in Niles according to what they were telling me. Posted in: Live Poker |

LFG in South Bend, Indiana I played at that game in Niles last night. I was a little surprised when I got there. I thought it was an underground game, but it's a legal charity game. It's a bit less formal than a casino game but still pretty professional. There were quite a few regulars, but the game is still definitely beatable. I will be going back whenever possible. Maybe tuesday or wednesday, we'll see. Posted in: Live Poker |

Super High Roller His past 6 months alone puts him in the top 50 on the all-time list. So yeah, probably most money in a year excluding WSOP ME. I know past results aren't NECESSARILY a predictor, but I dont think anyone should make prop bets against Seidel this year at the WSOP. Posted in: Live Poker |

LFG in South Bend, Indiana @famous5ives. Yeah, Niles isn't TOO far. i thought I had heard of a game in the Notre Dame area about a year ago, but I havent heard anything about it lately. I might have to check it out up there one night. Is it pretty soft' @sirswish6 Hammond is an hour and a half away. If I was going there, I'd have to stay up there for a couple days to make it worth the drive and it's hard for me to get off of work for a couple days in a row. Posted in: Live Poker |

LFG in South Bend, Indiana As the title suggests, I'm looking for a game in Northwest Indiana, preferably South Bend. If anyone is from the area and knows of a good 1/2 or 2/5 game, please let me know. I hate having to drive to four winds to play. Posted in: Live Poker |

DoJ and their role in overseeing return of player funds If you think that the DOJ has any interest in the financial well-being of the people they allegedly represent, you are very poorly informed. Posted in: Poker Sites |

Associated Press article about black friday Good article. The AP actually looks at the people perspective instead of the legal one. It shows how people are being hurt by the government's action. Posted in: Poker Sites |

Full Tilt and Pokerstars Domains Seized I think many people have seen this day coming for a long time. We became complacent though and hoped that Stars and Tilt could just run indefinitely without the government trying to get what they feel is their piece of the pie. In reality, everything come down to money, the U.S. government wants $3 billion. What we're going to give them 50,000 or more poker players across the nation pissed off. Today, we have to renew our fight for the right to play online poker with more vigor than we have at any point in the past. Right now, we need leaders and we need activism. Just like the ... Pstars $11, 1.1M Tourney, bust? I was going to post the same thing, he's done it at least a dozen times throughout the thread at this point. Also struggles with the difference between "what" and "that" in some cases. Poker donkey + Grammar donkey = From the South I bet he wears sunglasses at his .50/1 home game. Suggestion for change to heads up hyper turbo MTTs- is this a good idea? being better at push/fold than your opponent means that it's +EV. When you say "it's tough to win 8-9 coin flips in a row", you're talking about variance. If you want lower variance don't play hyper turbos. The tournament is the way it is. Play it as profitably as you can even though the edge is much lower OR choose not to play it at all. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Profitable regs in cash games Is there a legal way to find out if a player in a cash game I'm playing against is a regular and/or profitable' I thought i remember hearing a while back that some of the tracking software out there isn't allowed. Essentially i'm looking for an OPR for cash games that's legal. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

To the real poker players / grinders ! I won .50 in a UB freeroll and grinded my way through the .01/.02 LHE games then .01/.02 NLHE, then I hit a tourney for a hundo and have never looked back. Once I got up to about 10k I gave back about 65% of it at 400 NL, now I'm back to grinding the 25NL and 50NL games with the occasional tourney day fitted in and just dedicated to learning. The mathematics of poker - has anyone read it properly? Well, this sounds very interesting. I'm currently finishing up my undergraduate degree in mathematics and plan on going on to grad school. I love a good challenge, so I think I might use some FPP's on this if it's in the Stars store. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Do you track your flip percentage? Here's the applet that I used so try it for yourself: Probability of success = .44 which i get from poker stove's numbers for AK vs. QQ: 43.944% to 56.056% (rounded up slightly to 44%) Number of trials = 100 Number of successes = 31 If you don't know the math, why argue with someone who does' I'm not just bullshitting. With all the talk of probabilities I thought some would find it interesting to see what the numbers actually are. I found the numbers to be quite shocking as well to be honest, but that's part of what makes math so interesting; is that it can sometimes surprise you. Sorry ... Posted in: Bad Beats |

Do you track your flip percentage? Just ran some more numbers real quick. If the OP held AK vs. QQ everytime in those 100 trials he would still only have about a .005 or .5% chance of running this bad or worse. Also, most textbooks dont list binomial distributions past about 40 or 50 trials because it approximates the normal distribution so closely after that point (The normal distribution is essentially infinite trials). The numbers speak for themselves or maybe I'm just the number's spokesperson. Posted in: Bad Beats |

Do you track your flip percentage? Probability of winning 31 or fewer out of 100 coin flips = .0000915716 or .00915716% Suffice it to say you're running fucking god awful. To give you some perspective, you're about 10 times more likely to hit runner runner perfect than run this bad in coin flips over 100 trials. Not sure what else i can say, good luck in future flips. You need it more than 99.99% of poker players. (Calculation was done using a binomial distribution calculator online) Edit: Also a quick comment about sample size. Sample size in lower variance trials such as coin flips need not be as high to make ... Posted in: Bad Beats |

12 180 - What's your shove range here? Yeah, no problem. I'm a math major and running numbers is kind of what I do. I was honestly surprised the result was as close as it was. I've been running more numbers recently and it has helped me to figure some things out. I was playing things way too tight actually. Seeing how close this run and other runs are gave me a much better idea of shoving ranges in similar spots. So thank you also for posting this interesting hand. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

12 180 - What's your shove range here? If we put the opponents calling range at A8o+ A7s+, KJs+, KQo, and 55+ which represents about 15% of total hands then we are about a 2:1 dog against the range. If we were up against only one opponent our cEV=+2500 chips with the shove But we must consider the probability that at least one of the 3 remaining opponents has this range which is 1-P(none have it) = 1-(.85)^3=1-.614125=.385875 We can haggle about the different ranges that button might have vs. SB or BB, but this isnt a terrible approximation Using this last number we find that our cEV = -550ish If you want to tweak the range ...
