making pot odds calls from the blinds in MTT's My question is: Is it even profitable to be making these types of calls out of position with speculative hands' I am starting to think that it is not, even considering the good pot odds.[/QUOTE] Much has been discussed about proper odds for set mining pairs but not many hard and fast rules on other speculative hands like suited connectors, connectors, suited 1 and 2 gappers etc. Maybe someone can chime in on those types of hands and the odds you might need simular to set mining. As with pairs there comes a point where you just don't have the right implied odds when your stack starts to get ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Flop spot with middle set early in SCOOP 2 M * Yeah to me it also seemed like I am not supposed to fold the hand and if it's set over set or straight then so be it. I usually stick it in despite my personal feelings about the spot,* It would be a sick fold, I think us online players are conditioned stick it in here as a standard play. If we stop for a second and think what hands they could have, and not just insert hands into their range because they are possible. But what can they really have' There is a good chance we are beat here for sure.* The range of hands that Cowboy raises the flop with are 2pair plus, and J9 is unlikely ... Flop spot with middle set early in SCOOP 2 M So what do you think cowboy is more likely to have pre considering he would have a potential squeeze spot here.....77,T8s/T8o or JJ' Is he likely to flat this whole range pre' JJ is not great multiway and might even pick up some more callers pre as he did with timo. So is flatting JJ from cowboys position the right play' Or would you consider raising' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Flop spot with middle set early in SCOOP 2 M I think we can have a good conversation without the negativity that promotes putting ones thoughts out there. On just calling.......there are gonna be alot of cards that either kill the action or cards ur not gonna like and there are enough spazzy players or players that are capable of putting in some creative lines and to me if you lose set over set well then so be it imo. Still have some outs against T8 as well so I guess you can create some monsters in the closet and find a hero fold but in a tourney you have to accumulate. I am not so sure you are only getting called by hands you beat ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Flop spot with middle set early in SCOOP 2 M Came back to check on this thread as I thought it was going to generate some responses when I first read it as I thought it was a real tough spot(or is it'). Most of the options all have some downfalls but wondered in what order would be the best choices. 1) jam 2) raise/call 3) raise/fold 4) call 5) fold Jam>raise/call>call>raise/fold>fold Thoughts' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Hand analysis: deep in 5 rebuy with AK c/c- c/r- lead river is a strong line here and in most cases your pair is crushed. By just calling the turn you are going to be in a tough spot on the river with a pair. Unless you have history or a solid read of players capabilities folding river here and perhaps turn. The 2s on the turn is a brick and the c/r feels like a set of 10s or nut diamond draw so the decision to bet the turn gets dicey. When to use pot control on the turn is a question I have often with pairs and with little or no redraws. Also.....knowing the basics like reg/random - profitable/losing player - avbi etc. can ... just a question regards trapping with AA/KK when short stacked. It all depends really. Like Villiage,Double and Tyson already suggested. How active and how the table sees you as well as what buy-in or level of players you think you are up against. What the stack composition looks like to your left and type of players you have profiled. When I see someone who has been sitting and waiting sporting some tight hud #s I am more apt to just not want to get involved when they are raising when I have medium to decent holdings that I might call a jam with that will compete against percieved jamming range. If you have been somewhat active, involved or have a poor ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Turn decision Merge $11 FT (5 handed) Bet sizing tells' Is he always 3xing' Early position sizing' Showdowns of holdings' Bet/calling freq OOP' Villiage nailed it.......more info would be good. Obv you have played many pots with him and r/c A3 OOP is meh as well as other holdings you mentioned. Depends on how sophisticated this player really is and sometimes it is easy to out level your ownself. As Tyson said tho doubt he is on a high level. That is why more information on player read and capabilitiy. In most cases the c/c lead turn line is a strong holding and puts a lot of pressure on pair type holdings 80bbs deep. A3 and ... Fold the full house on the river? merge network Interesting spot here and can't imagine folding either. 33 is really not in play here from a good/winning regular. 66/99 is still suspect to a lot of holdings(should these hands be betting here a big majority of the time'). Your check/call and buttons call could be perceived as made non nut flushes or straight/flush combos and if BU is bad something like Kh7x. Seems the nut flush would be betting the turn perhaps with a greater frequency than 66/99 but jamming the river is a sick line over your river lead to get value from 2nd flush or for someone to even think about folding a boat. This is a ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Sunday Mil FT Hand +1^^^ I think this is spot on tbo. Originally thinking it was JJ+, AK and I do think JJ and def AK will just be shipping pre most of the time. On the flip side he is repping what he has by 3b here hoping to induce' Or is 3b better in case he faces a cold 4 bet from a deeper stack and could you possibly fold' Sucks you were tired Red and I am sure this was the reason as even the best will lose their cognitive abilties being sleep deprived. Congrats on getting there again. Peace Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Sunday Mil FT Hand Unless you have been insanely active and even then this is a tough spot. Is he a reg/random' How much money has this guy made' Life changing sums of money at stake here and 3 bet folding 26bbs...well. Just with all the exposure and goofy stacks to his left and 26bbs on the FT of the million I can't imagine his 3b call range is 22-77 like ever and because of this dynamic his raising range has to be given some credit. I have not seen it yet but I really don't mind r/f here as play is just really tight and you can just chip up with easy spots that have no resistance. But I am a fuggin nit ... stars 50r hand vs gagliano30,do you fold to gags 4bet on the flop? I respect those of you who say fold pre here but I am trying to figure out why as I am always shrug/sigh calling in these spots that deep. Seems super standard to just flat than 3b/fold losing all chance to flop big and stack a big hand with a little investment. Flatting just can't be bad but perhaps missing something. I hate the c/r on the turn as well. I have zero issue defending tbo but knowing what textures that ur gonna stack off to is paramount imo. c/c flop, c/f turn or c/c turn and c/puke fold river is infinately better than c/c flop, c/r turn and c/c river 39bbs deep. Gross river spot, low stakes cash... WWYD? Is he capable of jamming AA/KK' Does he view you as bluffy/capable' How does he see you is the question. If he sees you as only having the goods or strong holdings and has a history with you folding could be an option. Not looking to hero fold to a capable player much and if you are playing with him regularly I might just pay for info and log it for future sessions. Obv 77,QQ and ATo fit the 3 betting profile more than 89s/o,9Ts/o. Tough spot either way. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Gross river spot, low stakes cash... WWYD? I think the c/c flop, c/c turn and c/all in is more likely 77 than QQ here and lets not forget ATx if that is at all in his 3 betting range. Doubt be is 3 betting QT, 7T and KT but who knows. Would have to see a wide 3 betting range from him before assiging these hands. He bombs ATx here on the river a ton as well as 77 and QQ and really don't think a solid player 3 bets/floats 22 here much. What does he put you on after 3 barells and a raise/call pre' AA/KK has JJ,99,88 beat and you would check back river here most the time no' IMO I think you have to be crushed a ton of the time here as ... Final 4 tables, AQo vs. nitty EP open Nittier players even tho maybe capable of raising light are rarely raising light in these spots from early position and 22 bbs. This type of player is not calling off AT or AJ like ever and if you are called you are often dominated or flipping, but our hand is fairly strong and we have what 19bbs and I really hate this spot tbo. Since we are never 3 bet/f here I am not sure it matters much so either way but I prefer the sigh jam and hope to suckout or win a flip. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Asking person behind u... Serious' Sounds like a shady ass place tbo. How in the hell can you tag team stacks' She needs to get the fuck up with her stack and he needs to buy in period. Then they tag team player history/info on you on a river decision during a hand. Unreal! Multiple issues and a shitty dealer who is not taking any kind of control over the situation and how did all the players not say anything when he took over the stack when the dealer did not say anything' Just all bad imo, but like Jliz said I would snap call the floor person for a resolution. Tough River Spot Early in Maximus Event 27 Agree with most that flatting pre OOP with this hand is a little meh, but being this deep certainly can't beat you up for it. You just have to know what type of flop you are looking for which is rarely going to happen. Paired board/second nut/OOP is where it all starts and THIS is not the flop we want to see but it feels like it is. As soon as the board is paired I am losing interest or play very cautiously if I get involved(which you did) - I like a fold on the flop as well. As played sigh fold and move on if you can't get to a reasonable showdown. Villian easily flats 22-TT most of the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

top pair top kicker on a pretty dry board, strange hand "Tightest at the table" and bet sizing being on the heavy side on the flop makes me not like the hand anymore. Any history of failed cb bets/showdowns' How does he view you more importantly. Unless I have a super strong read/history with villian folding is going to be best most of the time. Even if you float one trying to freeze him ur gonna be in a goofy spot with a hand that is unlikely to improve and ur praying he shuts down after investing 482k ish of ur stack. I really hate these spots because it feels like you are getting exploited, but to a tight player(who could very well be a losing ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Tough Spot with Top Pair? Limped multi way pots can be nightmarish and continuing on more than likely puts you in a goofy spot on the turn with a hand that has little opportunity to get better. And with a high ranked player that can expoit this bet call line you will be playing a guessing game whether or not flatting will freeze the action on the turn only to face a river value bet depending what the board runs out. Raising all in with 70+ bbs cant be good and raising any amount puts you in a dicey spot for your whole stack. Easy fold imo. If he leveled then good for him, but usually these limped pots that snowball ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

A case for "defensive bet" or "donk bet" on the river OOP, be the jury.. +1 ^^^ Keeping it positive....there is a ton of great advice itt and has identified some leaky play. Flatting and playing OOP has to be the worst line with these stacks, this hand, this position and villians range as already discussed. Let's not forget he still has exposure to the left(we don't have stacks here obv) which will tighten his range a bit more. We know villian is capable of being light but it is a juicy spot for him to do this with most of his range. History and perception of how he sees you plays a big role as well. Seems this is a clear shove/fold spot unless you have a real ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

200/400 at CPC event 5 He sees you as a tight player and has had a little success with 3 betting you. Does he really think he can fold out AK/AQ at this point' At some point ur gonna make a stand and he knows this and if you just happen to have a big ace it is just going to be hard to fold at this point. How many times have you c-bet/folded to a raise' Not being results oriented or one to try and make hero folds but against the draw hands ur still gonna lose a third of the time. Sets ur just crushed and 2 pair types have you drawing super thin. With this dynamic and you potentially holding a blocker to some draws ... Posted in: Live Poker |

a question regard 4bet/call with QQ To ripomatic -- with QQ and 30bbs, the default play is to get it in. My advice is always if you're not willing to call a 4bet or 5bet shove, flatting pre is better. Seems like a cooler to me. I will say this much though -- against a 16/9 that 4bets that small, I do think you can consider folding. That type of player is never going to be inducing with TT/JJ, AK in my opinion. I also highly doubt he's going to be 4b/folding. So it's a really gross spot where I would always 3b and plan to get it in by default, but after seeing how the villain reacted, a fold may be warranted -- although I ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
