I breastfed my son til about 18 months - I didn't "feel the need" to, he did - and it tapers off to where it's only a few times a day/just at night before bed - was perfectly natural and I didn't feel weird about it at all - at that point, it's basically a comfort measure for the child as opposed to a purely nutritional enterprise - and pumping doesn't have the same effect on milk production as breast feeding (a pump can't mimic the suckling action of an infant), so exclusive pumping can lead to a reduction in breast milk production, leaving the mother without an adequate supply As for the ...
