Penn v. Obama in re: Weed. Shootouts are illegal regardless of where they occur, intolerance of drugs when they're taken by poor people and excusing them when they're taken by wealthy people is a problem. Blaming shootouts on a particular drug and ignoring the socioeconomic considerations is stupid. Posted in: Off Topic |

Predator Drone Used to Capture North Dakota Anti Government Crime Family Perhaps someone should cut defense spending. Are they seriously spending $130 million per plane for border surveillance' I would expect a huge portion of the plane's top secret technology would be unnecessary for domestic deployments, so it wouldn't have to be >$10 million, which is likely less expensive than a manned aircraft. I also don't believe there is a viable presidential candidate on either ticket that unilaterally opposes domestic deployment of drones for surveillance by law enforcement. Posted in: Off Topic |

Illegal immigrants stealing $4.2 Billion per year from gov't... Tax credits complicate accounting and make it very difficult for voters to understand government spending. GE was accused of not paying any taxes, because they had done enough to be credited more than than their total tax bill. Tax credits are government spending, child tax credits are welfare for all parents regardless of income level, but everyone seems to embrace it. I'm not a flat tax supporter, but I do support reform. I think things would be better if the IRS stopped writing checks and made congress show their expenditures in the department budgets where they belong. Posted in: Off Topic |

Golf Game Count every stroke from tee to the cup, keep track of putts, GIR, and penalties. It will help to know where your soft spots are and where you're making progress. It also is nice when you improve and your score actually drops. Penalties and GIR are likely to be related to your course management and knowing the yardage of your clubs (realistic, not the I hit my 5 iron 220 one time so that's what I play from 220 every time). I was putting 40+ per round and found that by relaxing my grip and slowing my back-swing, my stroke became more consistent, now I'm around 34-38 putts per round (still ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Southern accents I've heard quite a few complaints at work about people's accents. In every case, the people making the complaint were white (Europeans and Americans), and the people they were complaining about sounded too black or brown. Posted in: Off Topic |

a guide to betting the 2012 Masters I'd be interested in seeing how Graeme McDowell does this week, as his past performances at August have been lackluster, but shouldn't be overlooked. He's won a major and finished near the top of the leaderboard in all this year's PGA/WGC events (not counting the match play). If they set up Redstone to play like Augusta National, and McDowell scores like last weekend, I'd say he was a pretty good value at 50/1. Posted in: Off Topic |

Syria just got serious It doesn't seem like his positions seem all that different than every other regime that gets challenged. The Syrian government is more vulnerable than the American government in many ways, so their reaction is probably restrained by comparison to what lengths our gov't would go through in the name of national security if a serious threat to their power arose. Take a look at the American government's responses to the red scare, civil rights movement/Vietnam war protests, OWS/Anon hacktivists/wikileaks, etc. Nobody gets civil rights when national security arguments are evoked, the best you ... Police Intimidation video - Prolly a repost - worth another watch immfo What does a 911 operator do with a call when the caller does not identify themselves if they're reporting an emergency' Do they tell the caller they won't send anyone' EXAMPLE 1 Name: N/A Date: 2/29/2012 Description: Today, at 12:35 PM EDT I was nearly struck by a police car run a red light without lights or sirens, and when I swerved to get out of the way I hit a curb and got a flat tire. The car had a number 1234 on the side. The officer slowed down enough to roll down his window and yell at me, then turned his lights and siren on and sped away. EXAMPLE #2 Name: N/A Date: ... Police Intimidation video - Prolly a repost - worth another watch immfo Given the nature of some of the responses, it seems completely reasonable to want to lodge an anonymous complaint. That being said, walking into a police station to start an argument is a good way to get in trouble for nothing. It is obviously edited to reflect a particular narrative, but if that narrative held true in any of the examples above, I'd say the police supervisors who failed to take an anonymous complaint are doing their community a disservice. Being arrested for failing to provide ID, when there is no other justification, particularly under circumstances like this where ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Bernanke on Economy Is it possible to get an accurate impression of the health of the economy' There are so many contrasting indicators that it seems like the system is being heavily manipulated which makes any kind of long term prediction futile. I would like to think that the growth indicators in the market are signs of recovery and the rest is just trying to catch up, but my skepticism keeps leading me to believe that it is just more of the same, where money is being pumped in by the fed and the natural system is still trending down. People are still getting laid off, salaries seem to be trending down, ... Posted in: Off Topic |
