Re:Freddy Deeb & "new" UB management involved in superuser scandal? I quickly scanned this thread and I'm not as up to date on the UB/AP scandals as most but isn't Russ Hamilton (former Main Event Winner) known to be one of the founders and major shareholders of UB' I know he's friends with Helmuth and watched them play in a threesome on that high stakes golf show. Also.....obviously Hamilton and Deeb know each other very well as both are long time poker pros. Is it possible that the transfers to Deeb were a way for them to launder the Superuser money to make it look like it was earned by a legit high stakes pro' I'm speculating on the 2nd ... Re:Jermaine Oneal dealt to the Raptors I just read an article and a raptors source was basically quoted as saying the NBA is a star driven league and even though O'Neal has plenty of faults he is a star. I think the success of the Celtics with their 3 Stars has proven just how true this statement is. Also keep in mind good point guards are a lot easier to come by in the NBA than 7 foot 20-10 centers. Re:Jermaine Oneal dealt to the Raptors I'm a Raptors fan and I think this is a good but risky trade for both teams. T.J. Ford has a ton of talent that hasn't been fully realized but he also has a spinal condition where any play could end up being his last in the league. O'Neal has a giant contract with a history of knee injuries. Both teams are rolling the dice, however the trade helps both teams improve and moves players to new teams that definitely will benefit from the change of scenery. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:advice from anyone turning a profit - a little help please. You have to accept that you are making mistakes and take steps to correct them. All the winning players take tons of beats too and still make a profit. It sounds like you are a sit n go player. I would suggest reading forum threads about SNGPt and/or Sngwiz. These are software programs that calculate the optimal play in a Sitngo once you are down to less than 10 BB. Basically sit n gos have been mathematically solved and you can pretty much get to the point where you can make the most +EV play every time which will in turn make u money. This is how Jonathan Little made a fortune well before ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:What was the first movie you ever saw on VHS? Does anyone remember Betamax' LOL Back in the early 80s my mom rented a Betamax VCR and the movie "Alice In Wonderland". We hooked it up to the Tv with the 2 metal screws (before coaxial hookup). I think we did that rental thing for a year or so before my parents dropped around a grand on a new state of the art sony betamax VCR. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re(3): Party Poker Software Issue Lol at the interesting replies so far. In case anyone else runs into this problem with Party I think (not 100% positive yet) that I know what the problem is. My router was dropping data packets which I guess Party's software didn't take too kindly too resulting in the short timer issues. Other symptoms of packet loss from what I've read are when videos don't stream properly on sites like youtube, cardplayer tv, movie trailers etc. I was having issues like that as well. Anyways I updated my router firmware and tweaked some settings and that seems to have done the trick. Wish I had figured it ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Party Poker Software Issue I'm hoping someone else has had the issues I'm dealing with and has some sort of solution to my problem. I figured its more likely I'd find the solution here that contacting Party support....lol Party's timer starts out giving me the regular amount of time but then after about 15 minutes i only have 15 seconds to act at each table. Another 5 minutes passes and I only have 12 seconds at each table.....then 8.....and so on. Obviously a major issue when trying to play 6+ tables of 6 max cashgames and brutal when you have only 6 seconds to decide whether to call, raise or fold on a scary board ... Re(3): does the average player... My 2 cents. I play primarily on Full Tilt and have improved my game significantly in recent months and my percentile is going up almost daily. One of the most important things that I could recommend that will definitely help you win more $$$ is analyzing your short stack strategy. These online tourneys aren't very deep stacked so you find yourself quite often playing with a stack of around 10 BB or less. I used to think I played the short stack pretty well just from trial and error experience. Turns out I was a lot farther off optimal shortstack strategy than I thought. One of the best ... Re(3): Rate My Bluff from PCA Wouldn't it be funny if "Older Euro Guy" turned out to be Vietcong. That would be priceless. My take is you shouldn't bluff early in a deep stacked tourney filled with calling station stars qualifiers. If you do try a move like this it should be after you've played with the guy for hours and have a much better idea of how he plays. Just too easy to accumulate anyways to take that risk. Re(2): Chip Reese RIP? :( Very sad news! Everything I have heard, read and seen of him on T.V. indicates he was a great guy and well liked by his fellow pros. If anyone hasn't had a chance to listen to the 2 part cardplayer circuit interview he did last year, I highly recommend it. Its one of the best podcasts I've ever heard. Most of the members here are young kids and it can be easy to feel immortal at 19 years old. I recently turned 32 and the thought that I could have already lived more than half my life is a scary reality. Time flies and we are only here for a short time so do what you enjoy and live ... Re(6): HSP Players -- Net Worth Ranking Define online pro. I'd say Antonius because he plays the majority of the time online and makes more money than anyone. If your talking about the net worth of anyone who sometimes plays online poker then I'd have to say Bill Gates. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): HSP Players -- Net Worth Ranking Although I'm sure Doyle is quite wealthy these days (splitting stocks and compound interest when you're like 100 years old is sweet) I did hear Chip Reese say that he and Doyle would have been better off sticking to just poker back in the day and they lost a ton of money on ill fated get rich quick business ventures. You do have to remember that playing stakes this high you have to be a gambler at heart and a bottom line guy 2nd. Most of the richest guys are guys that didn't have the gamble to play the highest stakes but did a great job investing. For example Dewey have more than ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): HSP Players -- Net Worth Ranking Again I love Barry but I remember reading/hearing that a couple years ago he owed Gus Hansen of all people $300K. He has also made comments on radio shows about the fact that he feels his skills have been in decline the past couple of years. Not enough obv to not be able to crush the tourney circuit, but he may not be a big game winner any more. Would love to hear BarryG come on to comment though. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): HSP Players -- Net Worth Ranking 1) Guy Laliberte ( close to billionaire) 2) Patrik Antonius (2nd by a mile, largest winner in poker period last 4 years) 3) Doyle - more from investments and Doyles rooms than poker lately 4) Gold and Esfandiari - a couple million - Esfandiari cause he's a winning live cash player, Gold cause thats what he's got left 5) Benyamine......losing money very fast on Tilt....was worth over 10 million now leaking millions in games other than PLO 6) Greenstein - I really like this guy and have a ton of respect for him and his game but he lost over 3 Million in the Big game 2 WSOPs ago and recently had ... Re(5): HU SNG question I have played many of these recently and I find the play to be very tight. 3 betting is relatively rare for most opponents at this level without a real premium hand, so I would think you'd be dominated a lot of the time if you push here. I've had a lot of success looking for spots where its obvious the guy has top pair and I've got 2 pair or straight or flush. I find with a little patience its not hard to get the money in this way as a big fave most of the time rather than trying to flip against an inferior player Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(9): ted forrest Everything I've heard or read about Ted Forrest indicates that his play is very unorthodox so the fact that he plays a style that is not considered optimal doesn't surprise me. When he is on his game though he does seem to have a Sixth Sense of what his opponents are holding. On TV I've heard several pros call him "Spooky". I think he is one of these guys though that has an A game that can compete with anyone.....but he also has a C, D, E, and Z game on certain days. Who knows maybe he got into the hookers and blow a little too heavily the day before he played with Annette....lol Posted in: Poker Discussion |
