Re:freaky UB software glitch from last night Aaron- This did not happen to me, but a VERY simliar case happened to me Wednesday night during the $1000 tournament a cash game. They are currently looking into it after I emailed support. Basically, the UB server timed me out of a 2600 dollar pot (after my opponent raised literally $2.50 more all-in ) and timed me out of the $1000 tournament. I had AA in the cash game and I had 20 BB in the tournament with 50 people left. After it timed me out of the tournament, I was unable to regain my seat for some reason and it just blinded me out for the rest of the tournament. While extremely ... Re:opinions needed ! *** I would suggest trying micro stakes cash games. The game is easily beaten with just a small amount of discipline. There are plenty of good books on cash games and even ones that pertain to micro/small stakes cash games. If you play a tight/solid game without many moves at all at very low stakes, it's virtually impossible to lose over a large sample of hands. I think that you'll find you have less variance in micro stakes cash games than you do at tournaments. Re:Satellite Bubble (Hypothetical Ethics Question - please help settle a debate) It's obviously not unethical to play different styles against different players to give yourself an advantage in chips. I would argue that this is the same for this situation, but I don't think it is. First of all, I think you should be satisfied in the first place that you have guaranteed yourself a seat and multiplied your original investment many times. Second of all, it is highly unlikely that you will be at the same table in the following tournament as the weak players you're trying to keep in the satellite. Re:sick sick sick FT of 65k The first and third hand could have been avoided imo. In the first hand, it looks like it would be standard as the results show a standard race for 11 BB or so. The only problem is that you raised 33 is EP, which should be seen by the table as strength. Therefore, a raise from a player who has 11 BBs would have to suggest ultra strength (ESPECIALLY since he is in mid-position and has a couple people to act after him!). With 33, you KNOW you're racing a large percentage of the time or in an 20/80 situation when the guy turns over and bigger pocket pair. My play with the 33 would be to ... Re:satellites to main event plus ev? These satellites are extremely soft, so yes they are very +ev. I think I'm like 2 for 2 in the ones where they offer over 20 seats and the buy in is $100+9. Annie-Question for UB 9pm sniper tournament I really like this sniper tournament at 9pm. During the week, it's usually 30k guaranteed. Why is there no guarantee on Saturdays when more people play on the weekends than during the weekday' I would expect a higher guarantee on Saturdays. New computer specifically for poker (please help!) I plan on getting a new desktop computer with two monitors (over 24 inches preferably). I don't know anything about computers and only have a laptop + extra small monitor now. I usually play around 10 or so tables. I am wondering if there is any computer that is optimal for playing poker or if there is a specific video card or something that I should get so that everything runs smoothly and efficiently with the two monitors. I was thinking about getting a Dell since I already have one, but I'm open to suggestions if anyone has had any desktops that they really like using for ... I will GLADLY take all the blind and oblivious fishies and keep them all to myself :) You guys are the suckers who will be playing on sites like Full Tilt, which are filled with decent players that are getting better because of certain learning sites affiliated with Full Tilt. Re:2nd time ive been screwed by the floor in the venetian deepstack in 1 year. I was sitting right next to Wisco in this tournament and completely agree with Wisco. Dimitri mucked his cards, took them back even after the dealer clearly said his hand was dead. Dimitri actually mucked his hand a SECOND time, then changed his mind and the floor was called. The floor guy in charge seemed to favor Dimitri throughout the ENTIRE argument and did accuse Wisco of hiding his cards. He turned the discussion about the mucked cards into Wisco attempting to cheat and cover his cards completely (which he wasn't). I'm almost sure Dimitri knows the floor guy or plays there often ... If you're looking to get the most out of your money, why don't you play a later $1500 event' The later events have much better blind structure and you also start with more chips.
