2 NLH hands - one from LAPC event #22 and one from a cash game I kept thinking about these two hands on my drive home from Commerce tonight. Any comments or advice, positive or negative, are greatly appreciated. LAPC event #22 $150 NL doublestack tournament 8,000 chips 15 min blinds I'm UTG with18,000 at 400/800/75 holding JcTc. Probably should just fold with this stack size, but I have been folding for an hour and decided to raise to 1,700. Folds to BB who has 15,000 and he calls. Flop J 9 2 rainbow. He checks. I bet 2,500 (I think I should have checked in hindsight). He raises me about half his stack to 7,500. I tank, then shove, and he ... Posted in: Live Poker |

As played is the river a check, bet/call, or bet/fold? Guy is a 26/19 over 1500 hands My instinct told me to check, but greed got me to bet. My thinking for checking is that there isn't much that he can call a bet with that I beat and if I bet and get raised it's hard to fathom a hand I can beat. what's the key to stamina? I know people have many different techniques on how to accomplish this, and mine is probably the most boring of them all. Rather than suggest adderall or some alternative substance, I would suggest to you that creating stamina is more of a series of choices you make in your life that, put together, give you stamina (among many other benefits). To do this you should focus on the areas of sleep, diet, exercise, reading or mental exercises, and creating a comfortable set up just to name a few. If possible, try to sleep and wake up at a similar time every day so that your body gets in a rhythm. ... Posted in: Poker Community |

live hand that are really bugging me from yesterday A common opening raise is around 3x the big blind. A general guideline for raising people that limp into the pot is to raise an extra big blind for each limper. In your hard to understand example I gathered that the blinds were 100/200 and 3 people limped into the pot. If that is correct a standard (if there is such a thing) raise in this situation would be 1200. Keep researching about the game through forums, books, and playing and things should start to look a little more clear for you. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Live Tells, How to stay fresh? There is so much extra information at low stakes live cash games. I try to pay close attention whether the player is in the hand or not to try to pick up an idea of how they are playing. One mistake I think some people make though is not saying anything and just trying to be the silent assassin. I think if you can keep the table enjoying playing with you they will be more likely to give you money, but if you are silent and get on people's bad side then they tend to get gang up mentality which is hard to beat unless you flop monsters. When to take profits from ring games I usually play until I feel that I am playing poorly, don't feel like playing anymore, or have something else to do. I believe it is important to stay as long as you possibly can when you are playing well, but the most important thing is to be able to leave when you just aren't playing well. You want to maximize your profits and minimize your losses and this is an ideal way to do this. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Petition For Pokerstars to allow time banks to reset in cash games and when deep in tournaments. Maybe every 30 minutes for cash games and for the final table in tournaments. It would help a lot and don't think it would interfere with how the game is currently played. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Ever folding kings preflop 250bbs deep - cash game? If you are 250bbs deep and raise 3x in the cutoff, then the SB 3 bets and you 4 bet. Now he 5 bets half his stack. strange spot, right' You could just call the 3 bet, but wouldn't you feel like that is losing value the majority of the time when you can make him possibly make an incorrect call to flop a set with an under pair' Posted in: Bad Beats |

Re:Ever folding kings preflop 250bbs deep - cash game? It is good to see some varying opinions on folding kings preflop because my poker friends regularly bash me for even bringing up the topic of folding. On many occasions I have made the fold and have been right, but there have also been other occasions where I make the fold and the guy has an overplayed QQ, AK suited, or the infamous ATC from players who just lose their mind and get it in with something ridiculous. Can anyone give me a regular example of a spot where you might fold kings preflop in a deep cash game' (not some ridiculous spot like utg limp, utg +2 min raise utg +3 min raise, ... Re:CASH PLAYERS.... 5 BET Shove spot.. Do you like the move or would recommend a different line i like it. there is a small chance that the guy has a big pair, but typically his hand is mediocre. if it was the original raiser that 4 bet i wouldn't like it as much, but since it is the middle guy i think it is good. also, it would be nice to have reads as well but in an unknown situation i would say more times than not you are ahead or flipping and most likely not being called.
