Full Tilt and Pokerstars Domains Seized Look, its not as simple as that. Wanting a piece of the pie may be part of the government's motivation, sure. But it doesn't explain why a bill to tax poker died in Congress, a bill that together with another bill that would legalize and regulate online gambling, would provide tax revenues fairly quickly to the US government. Bottom line- there are many social conservatives who have been opposed to ever regulating poker and they unfortunately have a great deal of political influence. You should check out the background of some of the original sponsors of the UIGEA. Posted in: Poker Sites |

**Official UFC 128 Rua vs. Bones** Jones is a beast no doubt. But I'd really like to know what happened in Greg Jackson's camp that caused Evans to decide to fight Jones. I have a lot of respect for Evans, and I'm really curious if something specific happened that caused him to change his mind. Posted in: Off Topic |

spot live from the 550 venetian This is just my 2 cents- but I like shoving. If you raise, what happens if the a nit and 2 aggros flat call you and the flop comes all low cards, or J high' You're out of position, right' And also, I feel that if you shove, an aggro guy could easily call you with a small pocket pair (22-99). Looking for a place to stay in Vegas for WSOP 5th-12th I figure you're not getting few replies since most people have made their arrangments. If you had made this post a week earlier, I'd have been willing to split a hotel, but by now my plans are set. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Early spot in 80k UB/AP interesting responses from some big names....... Really think you're beat here- I can see him playing a flopped set this way- check calling on the flop hoping to disguise his hand and hoping for a high card on the turn, and then leading out for half the pot on the turn. Also, I guess he could show up with A3 or K3 here, but I think by the river, he probably has a boat or quads. Also, there's a chance he somehow got a high flush on the river. Doubt he has a straight. Re:GG ANFO500 Maybe its just me, but why do people keep focusing on the fact that he never played multiple accounts in the same tourney' Regardless of whether he multi-accounted, if he switched between accounts, he could gain an advantage over regulars in small HS tourneys such as the 100 rebuy or the Super Teusday. Did he switch between his Rock account and his Anfoo account over the last couple of years' Or did he stop playing on his Rock account at a certain point and inform the other HS regulars that he was only going to be using his Anfoo account' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Poker on a resume? I think you need to tie poker into something else. For example, if you created an instructional poker site, edited a poker magazine, or did research on online gambling laws, you could put it on your resume. But putting poker per se, especially online poker where you don't work face to face with other workers, is risky with low chance of reward. At best, they might think poker is irrelevant to a high level management position, at worst they might feel you are addicted to gambling and thus not suitable to manage others. Re:STARS CHANGE YOUR PAYOUT STRUCTURE *** PETITION*** Well, I don't think Stars cares about top tourney or even winning tourney players who form a small proportion of Star's tourney players. These winning tourney players are always going to play at Stars and FTP notwithstanding the slightly bad payout structure since they have the biggest and juiciest tourneys. Stars' new payout structure is designed to attract more amateur break-even or losing players by making cashing easier. Stars listened to the tourney players' complaints about schedule changes because Stars would be losing rake. However, the new pay-out structures don't ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Forced to Flip? Well, seeing the player play for an hour, I was very confident that he (utg) was not shoving with AA, KK or QQ (feel he would have raised to 2.5bb or 3bb), but he was quite capable of shoving with KQ, A10 or AJ. Does that alter your opinion' Also, what about the benefits of doubling up, and allowing yourself the ability to fold marginal hands like KJ or A10 or AJ or any pp that currently you would be forced to shove with in an unopened pot' Frankly, is it worth it to fold for a possible slight bump in pay grades' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Forced to Flip? I actually wanted to do a poll on this, but there's no poll format on pocketfives. Basically, imagine that you are at the final table of a 300 person 20 dollar tourney (the Bodog 6k). You have 9bb, with blinds going up fairly soon and with antes. The 2 shortest stacks have 7bb. In regards stealing, you have been successful at the prior table, but not sure about how some of these new players play. So first hand of the final table, utg shoves all-in slightly having you covered. UTG player sometimes make fancy plays in late position, but not early position at a full table. You have two ... Tourney variance is rough Ok, so this is a semi-brag post. Today, after a month where I kept bubbling tourneys, getting coolered or bad beat near the end of tourneys, I won the Bodog 10dollar 5k at 9:10pm and the Bodog 44 dollar 5k at 10:20pm. I recently had lost a lot of confidence and was playing absurdly passively, but the deeper I went in today's tourneys, the more confidence I gained. I guess I'm getting my first taste of prolonger tourney variance. I calculated my tourney profit for the last month, and thanks to the 2 wins today, I'm finally up for the last month. Now, if only I didn't play cash ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
