Advice on HUD's for MTT grinders Well if I wasn't confused on which way to go before...I sure am now! lol It seems quite a few of you agree on one point which is not being too reliant on a HUD. I'd imagine for the best part of a tourney the stats would be quite misleading wouldn't they' As for example, if a player has been sat rock tight in opening levels and then starts opening up their game once blinds/antes became worth stealing, for the early part the HUD would be telling you that other player is a nit, which in truth wouldn't be accurate as he was just playing an early tight/solid game. Is this where the problem comes ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Advice on HUD's for MTT grinders Thanks all. Especially Polar Bears and Dr Guillotine for being so detailed in your arguments for and against. Dr G's thoughts on this match a lot of my own concerns, which was the accuracy of these HUD with the ever changing tourney dynamics. Im at a point in my game at the moment where I feel Im having a few Eureka moments and things are really coming together, so I'm really worried about something that could adversely affect my game. I think that is a risk I just cannot afford to take. I'm torn, but I think after what Dr G said, I'm swaying towards avoiding them. Would really appreciate ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Advice on HUD's for MTT grinders Been meaning to post this for some time now. I'm basically an MTT grinder and have so far avoided using any software whatsoever. My reason has always been that I didn't like the idea of becoming reliant on something, which might one day might not be allowed and also didn't want to feel at a disadvantage if I had to then play without it, such as in live games etc. However, I'm really beginning to wonder if I'm shooting myself in the foot by not using it. My approach has always been an old skool one when it comes to things like this, but I'm questioning whether that is a mistake. I'd really ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

New FTP gimmick! Wow super dumb idea. This idea basically is no different from being in any large MTT where you wont know the majority of players you are up against anyway. The only edge your giving is to the red pro who for a change doesn't have to worry about everyone trying to bust him for a buy-in and a T-shirt. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

good vegas daily tourneys? Thanks Mindtrip. That tells me exactly what I wanted to know. What a total con resort fee's are. I'm sure when I go and being an obvious tourist I'll be getting conned one way or another all other the place. I may have to do some research on common Vegas tourist scams before I go lol. Cheers man Posted in: Poker Discussion |

good vegas daily tourneys? I'm planning my first trip to Vegas also. Can anyone tell me what the deal is with Resort fee's' Do you have to pay an additional fee every time you go to a casino''' Also, I'm curios about poker rates. Can anyone tell me exactly how they work or what the best deal is' A friend told me about them, but said on the whole that they were not worth it. Any advice from you seasoned Vegas degens would be much appreciated. Thanks Posted in: Poker Discussion |

bad call preflop? I think this is a call. KQ plays well in a HU situation and with less than 10xBB you really need to be pushing before the blind hits you again. With only a few hands to find a better spot, you don't have the luxury of time on your side and you might find yourself forced to shove a weaker hand and may even pick up more than one caller. I'd take this spot as you are less likely to get additional callers behind you plus with him down to 17xBB his range is going to be pretty wide. You can probably expect him to get cute and try a standard raise with hands like AA, KK, QQ, so it's really only ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Late in MTT UTG: Shove or Fold? I like the shove here also as it's seven handed and by shoving and winning this hand pre-flop you are adding approx 20% to your stack. Position-wise, I think UTG seven handed or UTG+1 eight handed would be fine to shove from. Had this been UTG at an eight handed table or from the opening two spots on a nine handed table, I'd more likely look to fold and pick a better spot. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Working fulltime while playing online poker Words of wisdom there. I totally agree with doc on this. They key to all things in life is balance imo and that is especially true in poker. I work a 45 hour week and I put in around 40+ hours playing a week on top of that. However, I rarely feel like I'm bringing my A game when it follows a full days work. My best poker always comes on my days off. Like doc, I'm extremely fortunate to have a very supportive wife and I get enough vacation that I usually take two seperate weeks off a year, which is very much *me* time where I basically just do what I want and grind my ass off all week long. ... Final Table Begging on FTP If there have been previous posts on this, then apologies, but seriously wtf' This is getting out of control. Every player i know is sick of this now. These guys are persistently begging at every FT. They even beg in groups and split profits at the end of an evening and go out of their way to victimize players who dont give to them. I really wanna know where this is going' Is nothing ever gonna be done about this' These ass-clowns are ruining the game for rake paying players and are being allowed to continue doing so. Something seriously has to be done about this BS Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Spot Im having troubles with.. He didn't bet too much' Makes a standard small ball raise to 2.5xBB pre and c-bets approx two thirds of the pot. I wouldn't expect the villian to have a five or a six in this spot. I'd also expect a re-raise from any pair that beats you pre-flop. More likely a babyto mid pair, that he feels is good for a 3bet with. In this spot, with these stack sizes, I'd most likely just go ahead and 4-bet and put him to a decision for all his chips. Re:Pokerstars account hacked, need help You can't blame players at the table for not sitting out. Also, there's no point in spamming Stars. Your email would have found it's way to the Security team who will come back to you as fast as they can. Just sit tight for now and they will take care of this for you. There is no telephone number for support, so just stand by your email and you will get a response quickly enough. For now, you might also want to change your password to prevent the hackers from accessing your account in the meantime. GL dude Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:playing low pocket pairs in early pos late in tournies At this stage of the tourney and with a stack the size of yours, you should be open raising with any pair from just about any position. Limping is your worst play here as you are simply not taking control of the hand. Open shoving is not a play I would look to make here as even though you have the other stacks at the table covered, you are still risking too much for not enough reward. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:I Pod or Not? This is word for word the same post you put up 24 hours ago about sunglasses at the table. is it not' The answer is the same. Ipod or sunglasses at the table is ok when you find yourself at the final table of the WSOP and being stared down by Phil Ivey. However, Ipod and sunglasses at a $1/$2 table = twat. Re:What level buyin has the most equity? I would actually say that the mid level games are easier to beat than low or high limit games. Reason being is most mid level players tend to have a reasonable understanding of the game. They understand what ABC poker is and can therefore often be a little more predictable in their approach to the game. By comparison, high stakes players know the importance of mixing up their game and thus prove difficult to play against and the low limits attract the beginners who have little understanding of optimum strategy etc and can therefore be a bit all over the place, which also makes them hard to ... FTP - 45 Man S&G's v 90 Man Turbo KO S&G's Following a post by someone else who asked about downswings in the 45's, I compared them with the 90's and after a close look at both structures I'm unsure which one is the most profitable to play and has less variance. If you compare them both, they both have the same actual blind structure levels apart from that the 90's introduce antes at level #10. The 90's also have a shorter blind level as you would expect from a turbo, but the difference is only one minute. So when you compare the two side by side and look at the differences, which are the antes, a deeper stack, ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Need a new direction and looking for real advice I would say play whatever format you actually enjoy the most. If you put the long hours required into something that you don't actually derive much enjoyment from, then you will soon grow tired of it and find yourself at a crossroads again. If MTT's are your first love then dedicate yourself to them. That could just mean not trying to snatch short periods in the week when you are already fatigued from your job and instead plan your weekend poker action. Draw up a schedule of all the MTT's that you want to play at the weekend and you can target those games when you are focused, ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Cash game hand at WPO Tunica MS. Moron Floor Person That is dark and so unlucky. Sadly, there is just nothing that you can do here as obviously the floor have obviously dug their heels in on this one. I think all you can do in this situation is kick up a real stink to the cardroom manager. However, you are unlikely to get your money back and can probably hope for little more than something on comp. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
