Re:help with early hand in sunday mill...... I can see the case for folding pre. Yes, you have money invested, but I personally wouldn't see a flop with ducks unless it was very cheap, as the hand really has no value unless you hit a set. Yes, you ended up being coolered, as it played out, but if you flop a set, especially on a board with possible draws, you really need to be betting/raising that flop. By checking, his c-bet really gives you no information. You lead out, he pops, you repop, he shoves... may possibly save you chips on what became an ul cooler. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Do any guarantees on Stars ever overlay anymore? I'm looking to get some value in some of these games, and I would like to exploit them if they even exist anymore. Which tourneys offer the best chance to overlay on stars' I usually play low to mid stakes ($5-$33, but would play $55's and $109's if the value is good). Thanks in advance. Re:How much does this help/hurt your game? The tournament itself is stressful enough. I do have a bit of a nitty tendency, but even I don't enjoy playing this slow. I'm only doing it because I think I've been too impatient lately, and I think (thought') playing it would help. I think all it's doing is making me more impatient cause everyone else is mega-nitty right now, and none of my hands are getting paid off, unless I'm beat, of course. It's just frustrating. How much does this help/hurt your game? I decided that I needed to improve my patience, so I fired up a $22 deep stack, which was originally going to be the discussion point, as to whether playing deep stack tournaments help or hurt your game and if so, how much' However, I now have been subjected to unexpected company which includes 3 of the most annoying and misbehaved kids I know, so I'm basically trying to blast KMFDM in my ears to prevent myself from tilting off my chips. I guess the discussion point now is will dealing with this help/or hurt my game in the long run' If so, how much' Finally, how do you typically deal with ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Question about cashing out on Stars While banks MAY report what they may deem to be a questionable transaction, they will not report a $1,600 check on solely the fact that it's $1,600. Banks are required to report all transactions of $10,000 or more. Multiple transactions totaling more than $10k in a short period of time will also raise red flags. OP, $1,600 will be fine. Take it. Cash it. Enjoy it. Congrats. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Heads up tourney specialists Since HU has the highest variance, you need to be as protected as possible. 10+ game streaks in both directions will be quite common. I would say 100-150 buy-ins for SnG's would be decent. If you lose 100 matches in a row, you should quit poker. 50 buy-ins is def. not enough. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Sun Glasses or Not? This. I play back at these guys any chance I get. As for socializing, it depends on my mood and the general mood of the table. Although many players do at 1/2, there's really no need to put on an act. Just be yourself and play solid poker and you'll get the money more often than not. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Does anyone have any experience with this? Yeah, I am definitely taking a break when the kid comes. It's not easy to just say "don't worry about the financial aspect"... She works a call center job on night shift that's stressful and not paying particularly well, and she's got a mountain of personal debt. This does not make deciding whether she should quit her job and be a stay-at-home mom easy. That, bundled with the fact that my job (though it pays well), is not as secure as I'd like it to be, just puts a lot of pressure on me. I just hope everything will work out and we have a healthy kid. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Does anyone have any experience with this? This makes me nervous. What bills did you have' My gf is insured, so I think the medical expenses are covered. (I hope) I don't think I'm too concerned as far as poker goes, because I think I might have a game plan that should allow me to make some money to cover expenses without neglecting them. I have time to figure it out. I'm just concerned about everything going smoothly. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Does anyone have any experience with this? I just found out yesterday that my gf is pregnant. I'm feeling just about every emotion you can think of right now. It's not unwanted, but at the same time, the timing absolutely sucks. Now obviously there are going to be a lot of financial obligations that will come along in the coming months, but as to actually how much the initial expenses will set me back, I'm not sure. I love poker. I already decided that I am not going to stop playing poker, however, I do need to make adjustments. This will definitely mean that I will not be able to play live for awhile, and that the BR ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:SNG Step Question... Do you call this short stack shove... If you're convinced he's tilting, I'd just call. The BB isn't raising you out of the pot unless he has you both crushed. If BB calls, it's likely getting checked down. Even if the BB takes the pot, losing only 270 is well worth it if the villian gets knocked out. That said, I also fold here a certain percentage as well, probably moreso than calling. A4 is not the greatest hand to be showing down. Let the BB do the dirty work if he wants to. A better spot will come. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Atlantic City Cash Games Borgata is the best room in AC, period. Regardless of where you go, you'll mostly be running into regulars at the cash tables. The levels play pretty much the same, just the amounts differ. You'll likely be seeing flops with 4 or 5 other players. Not sure how limit plays. 1/2NL is what I play the most there. Max BI is $300. Standard opening raise is to $12. You may want to get there a tad earlier, as the lists start around that time. Before that, they may have open seating and most of the people there will be from the night before. It's definitely beatable, just not as soft as the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
