Deep in $3r, AK facing Raise and 3 Bet a shove is fine here... he shows up with worse more often than everyone thinks. He also folds more often than everyone thinks... his sizing already indicates that hes not a great player so i think we can throw "1/3rd of effective stack is in, hes calling 100% of the time" out the window If I keep replying over and over it just adds it to my original post... cool feature Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Debate Over Hand, Final Table of a $4.40 180 man And what is so bad about playing pots in position' Its not a disaster to get flatted here... but to get back to the main point shove and r/f are both +cEV, it depends on the players which is more profitable. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Debate Over Hand, Final Table of a $4.40 180 man all plays are close to the same ev... adjusting based on reads on your opponents is the only way to play this optimally. raise/fold will probably be the best option against the std tight players Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Why would any poker player root against ivey? Its a reverse Moneymaker effect... Look him being deep already solidifies the game as a game of skill, poker would be better off having Darvin Moon win, so all the average joes in the world realize they still have a chance at this game. Re:Serioulsy thinking of opening a live poker room I live in Normal, IL... not a very big city at all, but it does have a college campus and ive seen a few rooms pop up like you are describing. I know it doesn't take much to get started. The biggest hurdle for people running these rooms is to keep people interested, and also maintaining the integrity of the game and the players in it. Save some money on the flashy stuff and use it for incentives to get players.. freerolls, raffles, bad beat jackpot, high hand jackpot, lunch/dinner (degens love a free meal while they lose the rent money), and anything else you can think of to keep them ... Re:JJ early at a final table This doesn't seem like that bad of an option. The hero is committed to call a shove from the initial raiser due to his stack size anyway, perhaps shoving will induce calls from a bigger portion of his range. With your read on the utg limper, I think its a safe play to just shove. I don't like flat calling here, too tough of a spot postflop, possibly letting the 3rd player in... you're just gonna get burned here most of the time. The intial raiser started the hand with only 37k, there wont be much maneuvering postflop with 14k-19k in the middle, depending on if the limper comes ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Hand in turbo 15k Check/shove flop, and if you're not comfortable with that move, shoving preflop isn't terrible. Also, this stands out to me as a situation where a random players range is either gonna be really loose, or really tight. Either he is flatting you in position b/c he thinks you are weak and wants to take it away. Or he is flatting you with a hand he has no intention of folding, especially on that board. I guess the one exception are the players who flat 77-TT there and fold to a dangerous board. If you can distinguish between these two types of plays in this situation, you can figure out ... Re:Tough Spot w/ 88 Deep in FTP $21k This is wrong, on the aggressive side of the range, it could get even looser than that for some experienced and succesful players. Just depends on the table dynamics and stacks that are in the blinds, but that range isn't an unreasonable one at all. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Tough Spot w/ 88 Deep in FTP $21k You are probably right in most cases, so lets fix that range to... 77+, ATo+, A9s+, KQo, KQs But just so you know, there are players who are playing that tight, especially at this stage in a tournament. Yesterday I played the final table of a $50 MTT on FTP, and there was a player who had 80k at 3k/6k when the final table started. He proceeded to not play a hand until he had 14k left at 4k/8k. I think my main point though is, no matter how you adjust the ranges, its still only gonna be slightly +ev for the entire pot, and if you manage to only win the sidepot, you will only profit on the ... Re:Tough Spot w/ 88 Deep in FTP $21k I think it depends greatly on your type of player. If he is an experienced player, who plays an aggressive shortstack: 66+ A9s+ ATo+ KQo KQs If hes a less experienced player, you might actually find that this deep in tournaments that shove from UTG is a really tight range, easily 77+ AQo+. Thing is, if you throw in the shortstack with a really wide range 22+. A2s+ A7o+ any two broadway (excluding JT QT), which I think is reasonable considering his dire chip situation. take your 88 up against the first utg range I gave you get about 33% equity. If you take that wide range, along with the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Tough Spot w/ 88 Deep in FTP $21k I originally thought this was going be a call, but after fiiddling around with pokerstove, I think you can confidently fold your hand here. I thought about trying to explain it with percentages and ranges, but I am not very good at communicating like that. Basically, this is going to be just barely a +ev call, just barely, and thats if you assume their hand ranges are pretty wide. So if you even wanted to consider making this call, I think you need significant info telling you UTG is atleast an aggressive shortstack player, or loose/aggressive player in general. Even if you knew that, I ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Final Table of 28k on FTP hand..EDIT-w more hh added 1st hand - I like the raise considering the stacks, I think you have to understand before raising that you are going to be forced to call Seat 4's shove with any hand you raise with. 2nd hand - I am inclined to just shove in these spots, 2nd option is to raise call a shove. No way I would raise/fold with your stack. I always thought the shove was slightly better than raise/calling because its good to avoid players making a play with the illusion of fold equity in their head. That way, you can avoid a bunch of coinflip situation with hands that they wouldn't have called a shove with. ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
