Best way to learn a new language?
I'd love to pick up German or Spanish.. I took a few courses in school but that was ages ago. What's the best way' Something iPad/iPhone friendly is probably better for me, or something audio that I can listen to in transit. Any thoughts/recommendations'

Friends of mine bought a house a few years ago, and the furnace died suddenly a few months in. They contacted a furnace dealer and bought a new furnace for about $6k. After the install, they followed-up with the dealer to settle up, but he wouldn't return any calls. I think they called him about 5 times over two months and a few emails and never received a response. After two months, they shrugged it off, being sure that he'd come to collect at some time. They had the money to pay, but literally couldn't contact the dealer to settle up. That was just under two years ago, and the dealer has ...

Your girlfriend's running pretty well to be 3/3, that's amazing. I'm like 1/10 but that's pretty average for me. Drove me crazy when the Coke bottle thing went online, you can't tell if you have a winner by opening up the bottle, you have to check their website. Ruins the fun and I just don't buy them anymore (for that reason). Also free stuff in bags of chips, does that happen anymore' Cereal'

I don't understand the mentality of needing to carry a gun. Yes I'm Canadian but please explain it to me. Do you have a reasonable expectation of being required to use it at some point' If you get confronted by a mugger, do you just pull it out and start firing' Can you really shoot someone'

I was into it for a bit. I used the stuff on this page which helped me to be able to solve under 2 minutes. The guys who solve in crazy fast times are using a combination of technique and learned algorithms, I think. Never quite got that technique down.

Just booked a cruise!!
My brother took a cruise this summer and they were allowed to bring 4 bottles of their own wine on board. They filled em up with rum and had a blast. Have fun!

Both Canon and Nikon are very respectable brands and both their offerings at that price point are going to be very good. That being said, I'm a long-time Nikon shooter as I feel that the ergonomics of Nikon cameras are far beyond anything else out there. Nikon cameras just make sense while Canon cameras just don't have the same feel. I would strongly recommend the more recent D3100 over the D3000 as there were some significant improvements made. The D3000 was panned by some as having some big flaws (). For your price point though, that's the Nikon camera you want. As stated above, Canon's ...

A friend needs to send me some money to buy a Christmas present, they're in New York, I'm in Toronto. They want to send a US postal money order in the mail but there must be a quicker way (I'm used to Interac email money transfers here which are pretty quick). Nerd cracks Jeopardy?
The video in the Gawker article is pretty insane.. this guy's no fluke. He's basically reverse-engineered the game show and devised a mathematical system to help him to be as proficient on the show as possible. That and the fact that he's actually pretty good at remembering things (and his willingness to pull the trigger on the Daily Doubles).. pretty cool
