Fri Night Poker at Hard Rock in Tampa
I have been really bummed not being able to play online since Black Fri. I've been in Tampa for a little bit working on a project so I went by the Hard Rock to check out their poker room. About 2-3 years ago I was there and the room was just "ok" with maybe 6-10 tables going the few times I played. Last night there had to be 50+ full tables and stacks of people waiting with a decent variety of limits and games. Not sure how it has been in other card rooms but the action at the HR looks like it's exploded with the fall of Internet poker...

how many straight/royal flushes have you gotten? How long have you been playing?
I have gotten around 5 RF's. One was at the Luxor and I won a whopping $50 bonus and I tipped the dealer...weee.

tax question on live mtt's
It's worth getting a good tax accountant to do your taxes as self employed. There are so many different deductions you can and cannot take, I do not see how anyone could figure correctly it all out without a professional. My accountant has several pros he handles plus he will handle an audit if the IRS does ever audit. Having the same accountant familiar with all the years of taxes is a comforting thing for such a nominal charge.

I appreciate all the people who have posted real empathy and concern for those of us effected by these events even if you personally weren't. It is my sincere hope that everyone involved in online poker, worldwide, make a real effort to do everything they can to support online poker in the USA. Write letters, send emails, post on social media, do anything you can, do something. Do not be fooled, what is happening here can easily bankrupt and close the poker sites involved no matter what they post on their sites and many more "could" be effected by it's eventual outcome. I just went through the same level u are at. I started with $50 roll, did mirco then hit around 3k. At this stage $3r, 5r and 11 with occasional 11r shots are the way to go. I still do these and I'm at 13k +. GL!

This. Control the size of the pot by checking ur draw. Smooth call the turn. Final note, villain is a complete moron lag tard douche. You can talk about all the stratagy "pre raise to get idea of hand strength" all you want, but this means nothing when ur playing guys like this. That's why it's best to control the size of the pot and get out of it when ev isn't worth it, even to draw with so many outs.

I find reading some of the really top players blogs, books, posts, etc. helps. You'll find most have a real go for broke attitude like many top sports guys do. This mind set is also a kin to many other winning professionals. If you are confident that you are playing your hands correctly, getting ur money in with the best odds, and taking the chances to get ahead, you will feel "better" about your wins and loses. We all have had horrendous beats. I'm running on an 8 straight AA all in bad beat run atm but I am still running ahead of the game. I can't hit 8 straight bad ...
