New Orleans
Cafe du monde is a must after a night of drinking. Also, K-Pauls and Mothers are excellent. If you want a hurricane, Pat O'Briens is the place to go. I also really like the Crescent City Brewhouse. Otherwise, you can't miss with the TU's suggestions. BTW, Harrah's sucks and I would recommend staying away from the casino if possible.

Re(4): New Hampshire
Don't go to Durham. For one thing you aren't really even close to Durham and all thats there is UNH. If it's Franklin, it is either Webster Lake or Winnisquam. You will be close to Winnisquam, Sunnape and Winnepasaukee. It being Labor Day, Winnepasaukee should be pretty packed this weekend and there are plenty of bars up in the Weirs Beach area. I don't know any specifics because it has been a while since I have been up there.

Re(4): p5ers have the historical perspective of gnats. poker is on life support for us
I think it will require a few weeks to see the actual damage. The number of people on a poker site are misleading at best. The volume should not be expected to go down right away, since there is no way of getting money off the site. The people that want to run have no easy way of getting money off the site, so they play with it until they go bust. This seems to be the sentiment among a lot of people that dont want to play online anymore. Will these players bother to find a way to reload or not' This will be the true test.

Re(9): Mansion CEO fired?
If I had to guess, the 1k promotion isn't what got the executive fired. Mansion isnt afraid to throw money around. I had heard that Mansion lost 5 million on the game, which really isnt all that much considering the buzz they got from the promotion. Also, if you look at the other promotions they are running, such as the poker dome, 5 million doesn't really seem like that much. If it is the casino marketing manager, I would bet it has to do more with the botching of the land based casinos Mansion is buying. I believe there are 3 casinos around the world and all are running way behind schedule.

Re(1): the PPV ME final table
Dave O'Connor, an ESPN producer in charge of this year's World Series productions, said not showing the rail camera shots during the live telecast is for security purposes. Harrah's Entertainment, which owns the WSOP, is bracing for as many as 8,000 players, which would mean a total prize pool well in excess of $70 million with potentially $10 million going to the winner. "There's so many more millions of dollars involved, the difference between first and second will be worth millions," O'Connor said. "Any information that might trickle back to the players, ...

Re(7): Main Event Final Table Pay for View
Right, I should have said a live poker broadcast before. I apologize. However live poker is a very different beast than live sports. Having never done it before, ESPN may find it difficult to provide live graphics. As I said, it sounds a lot easier than it actually is. The only experience they have in poker broadcast is in post-production, and they aren't even very good at that. They took 8 months to turnover the US Poker Championship.

Re(5): Main Event Final Table Pay for View
There is none as of yet. I can think of two distinct reasons why they wouldnt show them live. The NGC does not like having that sort of information available while the table is still going on, without some serious security. Also, ESPN has never done a live broadcast before and they may find it a difficult undertaking. It's not as easy as it sounds.

Re(3): Main Event Final Table Pay for View
From what I have heard, the NGC does not want the hole cards shown until after the final table is completed. I would imagine the NGC does not want someone gaining an unfair advantage by finding out what other players had, after the fact. Also, take it form someone who has watched poker without holecards, it is one of the most boring things you will ever do. It sounds like it will be fun, but trust me it won't be.

Super System 2 would be a good choice, as long as you were not looking to learn seven card stud. Stud eight or better, written by Todd Brunson, is the only game covered. My suggestion for a quality 7 stud read is Ashley Adams' Winning Seven Card Stud.

Re(1): The "rigged" nature of online poker and the psychological effect on its players
Have you ever seen someone call for a set-up every 15 minutes because the cards are running cold or berate the dealer for dealing them a beat' It is the same sort of mentality that generates the rigged posts. A lot of people just have a hard time admitting that they can't beat a game. It's kind of like admitting they have a small manhood. The natural progression is to blame it on someone or something whether that be luck or being rigged or whatever.

Re(2): I don't mean to be a jerk.....
It's less about "making" it and more about Aaron stating things that annoy him. This has to be respected. Now, as far as the online poker world goes, having people follow you around online and trying to be your friend or asking the same retarded questions over and over again is "making" it. How about this, I'll follow you around for the next year and a half and ask you how much money you made today or if I can have your phone number or if you want to mentor me or call you fat and ugly or...you get the point. It gets annoying real quick. If you think this doesn't happen to him, you should go ...

Re(1): WSOP New orleans, another thread.
I just remembered the name of the hotel that GambleAB stayed in when in town for the WSOP last year. The Ambassador on Tchopotoulis. He was happy with the place and it is close enough to walk to Harrahs. Also, there is a mexican restaurant attached to the lobby that has decent food much cheaper than Harrahs overpriced, crappy food.

Re(1): WSOP New orleans, another thread.
I used to live in New Orleans, but haven't been there since the hurricane, so some of this information may be useless. My first suggestion is don't do anything through Harrah's. The hotels that are next to Harrah's have always been expensive. There are other hotels that may be a block or 2 away but will be less expensive, assuming they have opened. I would look in the area of Tchopotoulis and Canal or a little ways down Canal. Try . For reference, Harrahs is at the end of Canal by the Mississippi.

Re(6): The Paradise Conquest..a very ironic hand and why I'm not good live!
I'm curious, why do people insist on correcting spelling mistakes on internet message boards' I truly will never understand this. Are trying to prove something by correcting typos. Seriously, I would like to know. I know the response is going to be, "well he corrected a misuse of a word, so I corrected his spelling". There is a major difference in misusing a word and misspelling a word. For the love of God, this isnt a term paper, these posts are written in a few minutes. Just let it go.

Re(3): The Sheik
All I can tell you is what I saw. I had a view of the scene that very few had. The hand was not being filmed when it happened. The players were forced to wait to reveal their hands. In the case of that particular hand, the players were forced to wait an extra long time because of another hand taking place. By the time the crew had gotten to the table Gus knew what Shawn had. Yes he did act like a jerk once the cameras got to him, but he did not slowroll Gus. As for the other shows, I dont know what happened since I was not there. All I have is the television coverage of what happened and I ...

Re(1): The Sheik
Hi guys. I am new around here so I hope you take what I am saying as the truth. I worked for the company producing the NBC Heads-Up Championship. One of the matches I got got to cover was the Hansen vs. Sheikhan match, so I was mic'ed into the table. I heard all of the table chatter and saw the complete hand. Trust me when I say Shawn did not slowroll Gus. The way the show was cut was very misleading as to what actually happened. The end of the hand actually happened as follows. Shawn and Gus got all-in on the river with the board showing T888T, which you have all seen. The part they do not ...
