Online poker = permanent resident card in Canada? What? Sick So - I'm not sure if anybody else has read up on getting a permanent resident's card in Canada... but I did a bunch of research and found some pretty interesting stuff that makes me want to move there to play online (oh PS and Partee... I can smelllllll you)... Basically, online poker enables you to move there, completely legit as a poker player, and get your residency card, and go on playing. Long story short, if you're moving from US to Canada, you should get a permanent resident card. Fold the full house on the river? merge network I don't know, seems unlikely he plays his set like that, just leads the turn all big and awkward to get raised by the guy behind him if the guy behind him has any flush' I mean... it just seems bad, what if someone makes a huge raise on the turn, he's going to be folding a set of 9's incorrectly sometimes. Be careful with your stack vs a competent opponent, you know on the bubble he might try to abuse it, etc and if you're going to be folding hands like this and just tossing him chips when it's not likely, but possible, that he's bluffing, I think playing more passively might be best. Confusing Spot I doubt that you're going to get him to fold 66-88 etc on the turn with another bet. Seems spewy and bad. Why not just raise slightly bigger to discourage action preflop because you honestly don't want to play that hand out of position with your stack size, your chip utility is almost none, and you have a hand that I'd rather not play in a multi way pot OOP with 25bb left. So make it 850 or something preflop, you'd be pleased with winning this without having to play OOP, or just having one of the blinds call is the best outcome and that bet accomplishes it a lot more. is this the correct call having zero reads? Call turn evaluate river, in this case, fold it. If he's taking that line he's rarely bluffing and most of the time smashes all non-boat hands. I imagine he's going to have a midrange flush almost 99% of the time in this spot. The way stacks are I don't see him doing anything but shoving but not because it's like "oh he's shoving his air" because his air isn't going to do it like this I doubt. Look at it this way: he doesn't expect you to fold probably, and your hand looks a TON like QQ JJ KX etc, so what is he going to have when he doesn't expect you to fold those hands' Something that ... Hand analysis... guess the cards You have AK and she has 99-JJ, sometimes 77, 55- and often KX. Check on the turn leads me to believe that the ace improves your hand substantially to a better hand than one pair, why else would you check' EDIT: I can see you having a hand like 78s or 68s etc, anything where that ace shut you down but then gave the hand back to you after calling with you with ace high, so AQ or something for villian, KX, and you having an 8 makes sense, too. There has to be a statute of limitations on something like that, especially when they technically have to break the law anyway to collect it the way it's written. Pokerstars Purchases FTP??? Preferential treatment on re-entry into the US market. That's about the ONLY reason they would buy the company. I guess in a way they're not buying debt though, they're buying loyalty. You best believe I'd get right on and deposit/play as soon as I could on either site, if Stars did something like this. It would be such an uber superhero move of them, and more importantly, solidify their market position FOREVER - and open doors to the US government/legislation to get something better than super shitty interstate poker rooms. She's looking now though, trying to get office space secured for my web design business so I can work there three days a week, meet clients there and put her on the front desk probably. Balancing poker and life and love Appreciate the post, I recently got a backer so thats how my volume has increased. And I think as far as skill, I'm pretty good imo. So it's less of the getting there skill-wise for me, but more getting their mentality wise and realizing how long this might take regardless of how good you are (esp backed, wading in makeup constantly), but the last thing I want to do is sacrifice my fiance, she's the one thing that makes me sleep each night, knowing she's taken care of and her needs are met. Balancing poker and life and love So I've been playing online poker since I was about 17 across various sites and it's been a low to medium source of income for me. Along with my live play in casinos in the area, I've pretty much been what you consider a professional for ~5 years. I also have a web design business/SEO business, along with a fiance, nice place, couple awesome dogs. Poker has been taking an emotional impact on my life. Petition for a $55 major on FT... Yeah I've noticed that too, I didn't get to play on stars for awhile cause I was living in WA, but playing just on Full Tilt sucked for grinding daily cause I never finished a good final table until like 10 or 11 pm...
