The Micros - Episode 4: Heads Up 4 Röfls
Chuckled slightly at the Die Hard themed plot line at the end, but, otherwise, pretty awful.

PokerStars 60 Billionth Hand
I've been 10-12 tabling for the last five years every time these Milestone hand promotions come up and never once got a sniff at a cash prize. And I'd be awake for 75% of the Milestone hands leading up to the Big One. FML Then when I click on the "selected" table, I've seen at least ten times over the years some smart ass type, "Again'" One time I saw someone type it was the third time that night. Obviously rigged. Also tilts the crap out of me when one of the ungrateful lucky bastards types, "WTF' What's going on' Come on, pokerstars, let's go!" //rant

New proposed state poker bill, gg california?
I could understand that comparison, but the commenter was lumping online poker as being such a disgusting sin as doing drugs or prostitution. I think the person's point was something like "Why don't we just legalize and tax everything then'" Definitely agree that politicians are hypocritical, wanting to say how disgusting eating cake is, but also wanting to take a big bite.

New proposed state poker bill, gg california?
Love how one of the commenters on the article lumped online poker in with marijuana and prostitution. It is ironic how the federal govt is trying to prohibit online poker with the UIGEA. But once a state govt is desperate for money, they decide they want to tax something the federal govt is trying to deem illegal.

Stars update - Location update... does it change the game?
One thing I definitely don't like about it is I used to be able to catch colluders when they were stupid enough to play at the same table from the same city. New update makes it much easier for colluders.

Continue online poker or find a job?
I really don't think you have what it takes to succeed at poker. Discipline, patience, and bankroll management are some of the most important traits to be a successful, profitable poker player. If you admit you party too much, and you don't care about your grades, I'd be concerned you don't have those traits. Poker for a living is not something to be taken lightly. It's not like playing video games for fun. It's not "this poker job" thingie... It is A JOB!

Continue online poker or find a job?
Find a job. Go back to school if you have to and start over (doing internships/ establishing connections). You're fortunate you have supportive parents, so take advantage of it. You're still young. With the political landscape of online poker, I think it is foolish to throw away years of actual work experience in the prime of your life in order to pursue something which may not be feasible in the very near future. Get any kind of a job, and play online poker as supplemental income. So I guess the answer to your initial question is both.

Update From PPA on Bill Status and Discussion RE "Freeze"
So somebody please tell me why do I continue to grind poker every day' From my understanding, online poker won't be an option to US players by this time next year either way. There are only two potential outcomes: 1) Bill passes- we face a blackout and are unable to play after March 2011 for two-plus years or 2) Status quo- and everything I read says status quo is "unsustainable" (even PPA says so), meaning, I presume, govt/states will ban online poker. So, again, why am I so stupid to keep logging in every day knowing that this will all come to an end very soon'

Is there hope? Article in WSJ about poker legislation
"In 2006, a Republican-led House passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which made all forms of gambling on the Internet for money illegal. The draft language that was circulating would have legalized online poker only" I was disturbed by this line in the Harry Reid article. So is it criminally illegal for players to be playing online poker' Also, the online poker industry being worth $25 billion jumped out at me. Don't want a slice of that pie, US' How much is our debt again'

Is there hope? Article in WSJ about poker legislation
Welcome to American politics, y'all. Would think PS could grease some politicians' palms in the back alleys with all the money they make. They give away boatloads of money on the milestone hands promotions. Put that money to work. They're going to lose a lot of money if they're locked out of US for two years (unless I'm one of the few stupid American suckers still playing).

Interesting situation in Jets-Cle game
If Mangini was playing to win, why run on second down' You either pass all three downs and go for the win or you run all three downs and settle for the tie. I would have run on first, see how many yards you get, and go from there. This game pisses me off because I'm a Patriots fan and a Jets' loss or even a tie would have been huge. More maddening, was the Stuckey fumble at the end of regulation. Just go out of bounds. You're already in field goal range and set up for the win.

Re:Greatest opening scene in a movie
I'm going to show my age on this one, but opening scene of Dressed to Kill (1980)... Angie Dickinson, still looking sexy. The whole "meeting a stranger" in a gallery, the silent flirtatious pursuit, Angie being fingered in a taxi, having a one night stand, waking up in the morning to find, hidden in a desk drawer, a medical report that he's been diagnosed with an std. I always loved the shower scene during the opening credits until I found out it wasn't actually Angie's body.

And why would they ever put that option on the table itself' If they ever do it, I would think you would have to click on Options on the chip tray or main lobby.

Re:what do u guys do ?
I'm glad you added that third point following your second one. It really irks me when people advise people that are going through variance (I prefer to call it the "this crap is so rigged" phase) to increase their volume, just play more, and fight through it. I'm going through a month long downswing in plo8 right now in which I can look back at my hand histories for each and every sng and be hard pressed to find a handful of hands I could even split. Hard to win when you can't win a single showdown. What good would increasing volume do' Make me lose my bankroll faster, ...

Re:LOL TJ Cloutier
So, basically, you're saying a professional poker player can never take a vacation' He/she has to work everyday because they are a professional poker player' Look at Phil Ivey, Eric Lindgren, Daniel Negreanu: the guys can't even play golf to relax without putting some money (and by some I mean 10k or more per hole) down on the game. That's totally normal, right' No disease/ disorder there, right' So, if you can't tear yourself away from the computer or the casino for a few days, who are any of you to call someone else a degenerate'''

Re:LOL TJ Cloutier
Too much garbage here to respond to. Feels like I'm talking to the wall. You people are so brain dead. My initial response was in response to the first 90% of posts which were laughing at the guy. Hell, the title of the thread is LOL TJ. Essentially, people are ridiculing someone who is in dire straits. I made the analogy, and it was an exaggerated one, that these same people probably laugh at the dire straits that the people in Haiti are in. The obvious distinction is that the Haiti situation was beyond their control, and TJ could have had some control of his outcome. Which brings me to ...

Re:LOL TJ Cloutier
I'm glad there's someone with a brain, and a heart on this forum. To all you people lol'ing at TJ's misery, I hope someday you all go bust, and have a forum ridicule your bad fortune. The guy is probably someone's husband, father, grandfather, uncle. Show some compassion. He is as much a degenerate as any of us poker players, just to varying degrees. What he has, and all of us have, is a disease. He probably has as much control over his actions at this point as the Haitians did of an earthquake hitting, which is to say none. So all I am saying is, you all should, how did ...

What is wrong with you people'!'!' YOU are the biggest degenerate in the world if you take joy in laughing at other people's misfortunes. You must have been rolling on the ground laughing, pissing all over yourself, when you heard about the earthquake in Haiti. Idiots, grow up. The world will be a better place when you all do.

Re:PLO8 against a LAG
No way. Especially in a $2 tourney, I could care less about being ITM. If I know the CL is a moron, I will look to play as many pots as possible with him, in position, irregardless of my chip stack. I'm not going to wait for him to donk off his chips to someone else. I want them! Having said that, I'm not going to be reckless either, and this hand is an easy fold UTG, especially with LAGs behind me. As played, on the flop, you're committed to getting it in. You have to ask yourself, "What was I hoping to flop with this hand'" Well, you flopped the nut straight. You going ...

Re:Illegal Gambling on CNBC at 9pm Eastern Tonite
Before FoxNews stole that motto (which obviously is a joke as far as that channel is concerned), when I was going to journalism school, "fair and balanced" was a basic journalistic rule. Equal time to all candidates, all sides of an issue. 5 minutes of possibly favorable coverage as opposed to 45 minutes unfavorable serves as a reminder why I got out of journalism.

OK, before they go to commercial, narrator says, "Need more information, go to illegal ; Where is the slant here' Jeez. Comments like "surprisingly, Antigua wins the court battle." Even the dreary theme music. We got dogfighting, Tim Donaghy, Michael Jordan gambling made mention. Now the UB scandal. Not one mention of how much revenue tax dollar regulation could bring in.
