Serious Dilemma (wsop Vegas Related) ...
Friend of mine just made a full recovery from stage 4 throat cancer. Of course the treatment nearly killed him. Think he was in bed for 4 months, except going for chemo and radiation. Its a great weight loss program.

WTF is wrong with people
I have a concealed handgun. I start an argument with a guy standing on the street. It escalates and I punch or shove him to the ground. As he is laying on the ground I say, enough of this, turn and walk away. He gets up chases me and tackles me. He starts to beat on me MMA style. I pull out my gun and kill him. I'm fully protected under FL SYG law.

There is no doubt in my mind that Zimmerman's personality is responsible for what went down. He was armed and I bet he was just itching to have an excuse to pull the trigger. I know the type. Can you imagine being the judge in this case' Talk about a no win situation.

Its like the justice system has become a popular opinion poll. People hate Zimmerman and want him to stand trial despite the fact he is totally exonerated under SYG.

It doesn't matter if Zimmerman followed or chased Martin. SYG still applies. Aggressor in SYG would be if Zimmerman was beating on Martin then shot him. This case will never go to trial and the prosecutor will be responsible for provoking a riot. Shame on her.

If SYG prohibits prosecution, arrest or detention, how is the defense going to be able to mount an effective self defense strategy in court' If I'm a juror and hearing a case based on self defense during a court proceeding that should never have take place if there was self defense involved, I have to come to the conclusion that the judge disagrees with the defenses notion that there was self defense in the case.

Except in FL. Also, you would have to have a definition of aggression that includes observing or following. The whole point of the "duty to retreat" is to eliminate aggressors from protection. SYG eliminates any duty to retreat and I don't think it addresses aggression.

True that Travyon could have and might have, but he is the one that is dead so he can't be protected under the SYG law. Zimmerman can be and will be. I guess 2 people can stand their ground. Its a god awful law.

Doesn't matter. All that matters is that Zimm. had a legit reason to fear that he was in danger and the legal right to defend himself. Yes, I agree its a really bad law and they should change it. Taking this thing to trial is a violation of Zimm's rights under the SYG law. Did I mention I think this is a very bad law.

Have to agree. Zimm was attacked and was in fear of his life and defended himself. Well within his rights under current FL law. Zimm might be a bad person and the law might be a bad one, but he is not in the wrong under the law.

Is that really what matters under FL law' What I find interesting is that under the Stand Your Ground law in FL you are granted immunity from prosecution and civil suit. You can not be tried or sued. Have they already determined that Stand Your Ground does not apply in the Zimmerman case' The prosecutor sure is digging themselves a hole with the public. They are setting up an expectation of a trial and I would wager a trial never takes place and people are going to be pissed.
