Re:Assuming players know more about poker(strategy) then they actually do.... leak??
I've made these exact same moves lately and watched people fold (when i thought they couldn't). I think it is best to call when you are holding the nuts in these cases, b/c a CR is going to yield you less chips in the long run. I know we can look at his play with 99 and think he is making a horrible fold ... but you told him he was down to two outs .... so he actually made a good fold at this point.

Re:tough spot. what do you do?
Yikes. Range is huge in the 3R. You might be against AK and a flush draw. Angelswolf may have limped with AA too. I think I am going to call here and take a shot of gathering a nice stack.

Re:standard situation do u call here?
You should call here if you are less skilled than the majority of players in the tourney, and you need some luck to hang around. Otherwise, you are going to find much more advantageous circumstances to get your whole stack in.

Re:I got into an argument over this call....
I am calling here b/c his shove range is so huge. You are likely going to add a nice amount of chips while leaving yourself 13+bb.

Re(1): Saving up WSOP step tix. Why?
It seems the closer you get to the actual event, the quality of play drops. A. Players winning tickets already are likely better than the players left. B. More people attempt closer to the event (resulting in a weaker crowd). I also think each step has a different "feel", requiring different adjustments. If you play a bunch of the same steps together, you may find yourself more in tune with what is happening.

Re(1): Is this a dumb play ?
Not dumb. You are getting paid by nut flush draw quite often. Obviously there is some risk here but you have plenty of redraw outs. Your stack is not big enough to get away from this.

Re(2): I just got pwned!do u make this call?
He made a read here ... which most posters are saying was obvious. I don't see how you think your line screams a missed draw and top pair. No one pushes here like this with top pair.

Re(1): EPT Step 6, 1st level.... river check vs. stevie444?
I would bet 180 on the river. I don't think he just calls the turn without having AK or KQ, so I think you could put him on a smaller pair or even a 10-J here. Then again the blinds are 10-20 and this pot is 700+, so I think you could make a case for checking this to be safe.

Re(1): I just got pwned!do u make this call?
I like his call on the river. I think your shove screams "i missed". So obviously I don't like your play here ... I think betting 5000 to 7500 would be better here. More preferably you should raise the flop or bet the turn.

Wednessday $150k ($300+20)
I won a couple seats to this tourney and was curious if the stacks play deep. I am a recent convert to stars from ftp. I noticed the stack size is only 2500 but it has slightly slower levels ... anyone' thanks

Re(1): Folding QQ preflop at any point in a turny...
I am guessing he called with his QQ for the same reason you called with your KK''' as in "i guess i'm coolered and AA has me" but i push anyway (i have to) you both are operating on the same principle

Re(1): Interesting decision in 100r - How to get maximum value?
With the preflop raise... if you decide to push AI , I think he is going to put you on a big pair. A small check raise would make me think you had a set (and he is calling then if he has either of the draws). I think a mini-raise is out of the question for me ... i am flat-calling or shoving. nice to see sane man

Re(7): Plugging a leak; continuation betting (warning: long)
you say to only do it once and i agree if we are speaking ring... however could tournament strategy beg us to continue doing it' blinds are 10-20 and i c-bet every card losing X amount blinds are now 40-80 and i c-bet every card losing 4x amount (blinds are 4 times as big making my c-bets 4 times as big) blinds are now 150-300 and i c-bet (with the nuts) every card making 15x amount. i am now (-x)+(-4x)+(+15x)''' i would have to figure this out by hand... but it seems paying off the calling station through the lower levels is going to help me later on

Re(5): Plugging a leak; continuation betting (warning: long)
THis is an excellent post and mirrors some of my thoughts recently. Specifically this quote below I cannot stress this enough though, DO NOT C-BET LIKE AN ANIMAL AGAINST A CALLING STATION. You value bet against a calling station bc you have a hand and want to get paid off. C-betting with air against a calling station will just get you less chips and more flustered. So, make sure you have a firm read on your table and know which players you can outplay, and which players will call you down with bottom pair. I like this at first .... I wonder if we need to C-Bet against a calling station so ...
