Playing semi drunk Re-raising when you should fold and raising when you should call, aka hyper aggressive - seems to work. I suppose if my record was bad, I would get called more often, but I only play like this afer I've had a few to many. I've been multi tabling all day and had several drinks with people who have come and gone. I don't think that playing this type of hyper aggressive poker is a long term winning stategy though. Have you found similar results when you've had a few' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

3 players left AK vs other big stack 27 Man tourn. The difference between 3rd and 2nd place is 5 buy-ins vs 7 buy-ins. I'm SB with approx 12+K chips BB has 802 chips Big Stack has 27k chips (approx) Blinds are 600 / 300 + Ante (or somthing like this, but irrelevant for this question given BB stack of 802 chips) Big Stack moves all-in I called with AK and I'm all-in BB folds and still has a chip on the table - lol Big Stack shows 6 6 and it holds. If you were playing for significant money, would you fold or call' (I was not playing for significant money) I'm not sure if my call was the best decision, although I ... All-in or Call pre / Call or fold flop 27 man tourn fairly passive table. I'm short stacked on SB with 2,500 chips. BB is short with about 2,550 chips. - I've observed this player bluffing all-in with air 2 or 3 times before when he had chips (lost in each instance) Two biggest stacks sit right after BB and both call. I think blinds were 600/300, may have been 400/200. Anyway, I have A 7 suited. Not a strong hand. Most likely if I move all-in - big stacks will call which means I probably have to hit the Ace and hope neither has a strong Ace. I called instead of all-in. Board comes J 7 5. BB moves all-in. Big stacks both ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Quit my job today going fulltime If you've already proven your ability to win (pay your bills, save for retirement, have money to go on vacation etc.) then you're on the right track. If not, then you should get another job that, pays your bills, allows you to save for retirement and go on vacation, otherwise, you're just another player dreaming. Prove yourself on the win side first, then go for it. GL Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:50NLH HU - Should I quit? Maybe you didn't find your leak. You may be a lucky calling station early on. You need to figure out if your style of play changes, or if you just seem to get lucky early on. Make sure you have the right leak identified. If you do, discipline is what you will need. Re:staking Aside from what was already written, you have to also understand your own objectives. If you are simply helping out a friend, then be prepared to write off the stake without losing your friendship. Money has way of splitting people so you better understand what you're getting into. If you are looking to make a profit based on his skill, which he probably hasn't proved or he wouldn't need to be stake for small $, then data is available for online players to tell you if he's worth the risk. Good luck either way. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:JJ on SNG Bubble vs the Maniac Twins If you're playing to win, you need to be all in pre against maniacs. Now if it was on PS, a call with an 8 9 will likely be a straight. If it was FT, then a call with 8 9 and you likely win, but more likely he has a high pair if you're dealt JJ. lol Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Isildur1 can now file suit againt Brian Hastings and FTP based on FTP Terms and Conditions If I have my facts straight, Isidur1 worked his way up to those stakes. I think, but I may be wrong, he was first notices with a bankroll of like 60K before he started hitting higher stakes (or something like that). Why would you think for even a second he wouldn't want to play the best when he has proven to be equal. Also, that's not the issue. Read the original post notes. Posted in: Poker Community |

Isildur1 to put in complaint with FTP re Brian Hasting's advantage I assume that this is the real deal, but not 100% sure of source, but it comes from another site that I think is legit. Here's what Isildur1 said in an interview: "I was not aware of the exact rule...but since seeing that it is in fact a rule at Full Tilt Poker, I think I am going to put through a formal complaint, as I think this is a case where the sharing of hand histories directly affected the match I played with Brian [Hastings]. "I played with Brian Townsend and Cole South a lot. They were always waiting for me. The last session where Hastings won all the money, it just ... Posted in: Poker Community |

Isildur1 re Data Mining Full Tilt Poker to take your game down Was wondering what other people think about sharing data on other players. Like the Brian Hastings win against Isildur1. Primarily one player (Townsend) picked apart Isildur1's game though the help of computer software and data mining, and then shared his info with a few select other players for the purpose of gaining an advantage which would allow them to play Isdur1 and win. In other words, it is likely that none of them had the skill set to beat Isdur1 without the aide of software and hand by hand evaluation. Could you imagine Phil Ivey and Patrick Antonious sharing info on players ... Posted in: Poker Community |

What do you get out of making your stats public? If I have my info right, I think you have to opt in to have your stats fully public. If a player is looking to be staked, it makes sense for his stats to be public, but if you're not looking to be staked, I don't get the point. Makes no sense to me. Am I missing something about making your stats public' Is it just an ego thing' Posted in: Poker Community |

Re:Isildur1 can now file suit againt Brian Hastings and FTP based on FTP Terms and Conditions In the U.S., a guy named Baxter sued the I.R.S. in court making poker winnings taxable as ordinary income (profit - loss etc.) He proved that as a professional poker player, skill was involved and therefore, he should not be taxed at 50%. He won the case. Isdur1 would have to first file suit against FTP in the jurisdicaton that FTP operates within. I haven't looked into it because it can be time consuming and I have no $ interest in doing so. The point of filing suit against FTP would be to prevent a transfer of funds, not to hold FTP liable. This is a very duable case, but, if Isdur1 ... Posted in: Poker Community |

Re:Isildur1 can now file suit againt Brian Hastings and FTP based on FTP Terms and Conditions Wrong. Brian didn't do the work. First, based on FTP, Terms and Conditions, Brian Hastings is in total violation. Second, Brian Hastings didn't do the work, Townsend did it. Third, if you were playing for serious money, and another player told your opponent how to play you, I believe that you would not consider it fare play. In most situations, it woudn't matter because of lack of official rules, but FTP has official rules, which were violated. Townsend won about 1.5 Million or some figure like that from Isdur1, but he did it with his own data, play history, and evaluations. A ... Posted in: Poker Community |

Re:Isildur1 can now file suit againt Brian Hastings and FTP based on FTP Terms and Conditions The following comes from FTP Terms & Conditions page: 8. Full Tilt Poker prohibits the use of external player assistance programs (EPA Programs) which are designed to provide users with an unfair advantage over their opponents. Full Tilt Poker defines external to mean computer software (other than the Full Tilt Poker game client), and non-software-based databases or profiles (e.g., web sites and subscription services). Full Tilt Poker defines an unfair advantage as a user accessing or compiling information on other players beyond that which the user has personally observed through his or ...
