Re:How would you play this, tough spot Thanks man, The problem was he was not loose nor too tight, meaning he was capable of calling with >77+ AJ, A10 and up, so I knew that and took a shot with 88, thinking back, I probably should have waited for a better spot. thanks for your help, appreciate it. Re:How would you play this, tough spot What I meant to say was 3-4 hands I saw him raise and he never folded in-spite of a huge raise. My question is if he was not like that, then what would you do. Would you still ship it here with 15 BB' situations like this screw me up. Just trying to find out if this was ever an +EV play. Thanks for replying,a appreciate it. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

How would you play this, tough spot 255 people remain in the 25+2.50 25K guaranteed on stars and 198 spots pay and right now 255 remain, The blinds are 300/600 and 75 ante and I have 9800 chips. Around 15 BB. Been card dead for so long anyways, but picking the spots etc, I get dealt pocket 88's in the cutoff, UTG+1 raises to 1800 (he has been active, but nothing unusual, but one thing I noticed was, once he raised, he never laid any of his hand down). I mean at the 25/50 level he raised 150 and the guy next to him shoved for 14K (yes 14K) and this guy snap calls with 33 and had like 12K stack and hits the set. He has ... Re:How would you play this the 20K guaranteed with 30 to go thanks, I got your point, the blinds were going to be 10K/20K in the next 3 mts so eventually the 40 BB was gonna be 30 BB. At any rate, I should have played this much different than the shove. Thanks for all you folks for helping out and good luck to everyone. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:How would you play this the 20K guaranteed with 30 to go his stack was close to mine as well, i made a big boo-boo, I realized it as soon as I shoved, my bad (arghhhhhhhhhhhh), but what do you do there if you had say JJ or better yet QQ, do you still set mine or do you 4 bet and if re-jams, I have to pray he does not have AA or KK.... thanks for your answer, appreciate it Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:How would you play this the 20K guaranteed with 30 to go Thanks man, I actually play a lot of SNGs myself, but also play tournaments. night before final tabled the 11 dollar 20K guaranteed and lost to a suckout in 7th place, was hoping to have a good result in the 5.50 20K, but out so close....Thanks for your reply though. appreciate it Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:How would you play this the 20K guaranteed with 30 to go Thanks to all those who replied, I was in SB and sorry didn't post the HH. Will do it next time. I was in the SB and thinking about it, I made a bad mistake here, I think the best course would have been to call pre flop and check fold if there are face cards, or bet and know if you are behind when he smooth calls or 3 bets me. Either way i would have lost 15-20% of my stack, but not out of the tournament, Kinda sucked playing for 7.5 hours getting so close and then one bad decision, live and learn. Thanks again guys, truly appreciate it. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

How would you play this the 20K guaranteed with 30 to go Played the 20K guaranteed 5.50 buy in on Stars yesterday, 30 left and really all the money is from say 1-6. Anyways I would really appreciate some inputs and thoughts here. Thanks Blinds at 8k/16k and ante i think 2000 and I have 643,000 and get dealt pocket 99's. Now the table has been active with a lot of 2.5 raise, 3x raise and most pots won pre- flop. The UTG limps for 16k and UTG+1 who has been active (nothing maniacal, but normal,) makes it 32K, how do you play the 99's with almost 40 BB and 8 players in the table...so i have an M of 15.. I shoved the 99's hoping to pick ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Was this the right fold I've been thinking about this from last night and any input, advice would be greatly appreciated. Playing the 15+1.50 stars tournament, 450 entries, 72 get paid and right now 30 left. Blinds are 400/800 and a good ante and my image has been standard in the sense, I have shown good hands at showdowns and picked my spots in position. I have 13K in chips right about now, post the BB 800 and the UTG shoves 11K and this is a guy I played with at another table and had the same stack and was not Lag and honestly not too much info as he didn't play many pots etc. At any rate I have AQo in ... Re:Could I have played this better Thanks for the replies guys,. Appreciate it. I did bet the river, close to 2/3 of the pot with all the intention of getting it in if he shoved, which is what happened. as far as his opening range, like i said, he really didnt play well at all, kept flatting a lot and the bet size was the same and like someone said i basically flopped the nuts.. Just one of those where u just can't get away from it and I just wanted a second thought and appreciate all the responses. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Could I have played this better Exactly, didn't put him on QQ and if he did have the 22 or 44, would you not bet the flop with the flush draw (just me), but at any rate he did have 55 and filled up on the river to the full house and it was gg me as he took a long time thinking and then calling and my remaining chips went in.. Oh well, thanks for the reply. Makes me feel better. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:please give hand opinions, please.... so basically the blinds are 3 and 6k and u have close to 33 big blinds left. I don't know, I would have called pre flop not for the reason of trapping, you are only trapping if the 7 hits you...But when the button bets 50K, what did u put him on, with 150K and calling 18K preflop and betting 50K, more than a third of his stack is in the pot, u really cant expect him to fold unless he was on a total bluff here.... I probably don't shove there and wait for a better spot with almost 30 BB this late in the tournament... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Could I have played this better this is the 20+2 Double Deuce on FTP last night and out of 12000 entrants, 12350 pays and 1500 remain and blinds are 500/1000 and good bit of ante..Any rate I am in the BB and dealt KQ spades and the button, guy who is not super aggressive, neither a Lag Tard, but kinda plays goofy, flatting a,lot and then letting it go and I had taken a few pots from him early on... my chip count 29K, his 26500 Folds to him and he makes it 3700 on the button. Even though I am OOP, I felt I could see the flop and see what develops and the flop is so nice Qc 2s 4s I have top pair with the 2nd flush draw. ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:IS a Shove here +ev? deep 28k Full tilt Wait a sec, u have a little over 27 Big blinds, deep in the tournament and at this table other than you, NDC and Mallo have deep stacks....The guy you are shoving into has 13 big blinds with an M of 5 to 6...I would raise it up to say 8000 or so and if he shoves into you, what is his range, A6+, at best you are racing here and I don't think this is the right spot to be shoving into 13 big blinds. If he had say 20-25K, then go ahead and shove it and if you end up on the losing end, you have still 20 BB and can pick your spots. But 13 BB is a little too mcuh to be scarficing here, basically ... Re(2): Results oriented vs decision oriented I really had a tight image and every time it was a showdown had bigger pocket pairs than my opponents. I think at that point of the tourament with the blinds at 4000/8000 and ante 75 even a 110000 stack for here has an m close to 8 and you are right i was crushed if she held pocket AA, KK or QQ etc. the only reason i made this call even though i was not getting anything close to 3:1 was the chance to get away from the pack to the 300000 chip level and be close to the chip lead and based on my read on here and my tight image... Thanks for the response though Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Results oriented vs decision oriented Couple of days ago I had asked a question basically along the lines of can one control bad beat and that was a dumb question. I had asked that after losing to a really bad beat. One of the p5 members TheMayor basically said be decision oriented and not results oriented as it would be profitable in the long run. I cant begin to tell you how easy it makes it when you do lose to a bad beat. As usual i am playing the 40k guaranteed on party last night and ended finishing 51st. Come so close so many times, hopefully one of these days i can crack it. All my moves in the game yesterday were ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Can one control bad beats I've been thinking about this for a while. Let me explain. Bad beats can be two kinds, the one where the caller to your raise has a legitimate hand and makes a set to your KK or AA. There is nothing we can do about that. the other kinda bad beat is the one where we are first to act and push all in with a great hand and a donk caller calls with Ace rags or King rags and gives us a bad beat, those are the ones tough to endure as we all have had it happen many times. For example, playing last night at the 40k guaranteed at party. I was up to 21000 in chips with the blinds at 400/800 ante 25 ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): 40 K guranteed advice Thanks for the advice. Yeah, replaying Case 1, i should have def folded JJ's. Just made a stupid mistake there. 40 K guranteed advice I have been playing the 40K guaraneteed on Party (22 dollar buy in) with the top 3 prizes of 9K, 5k, 3k and all the way to 800 dollars for the 10th spot. Not bad for a 22 buy in. Of course the guaranteed attaracts close to 2600 participants. In any event I have finished 17, 17th, 17th in just the last week alone and it's kinds frustrating to see the FT so close and yet bust out at 17th and 19th spots. May be someone can advice on how I played my hands. Case1: 20 players left and the average stack is around 400000 and the blinds are at 15K/30K and I have around 460000 left with me (M Close ... Re(1): MTT help needed, please I would not even play the rebuys if you dont have the bankroll to do it. Precisely the reason guys go all in early on with rags is to get lucky and get a huge stack, if not, rebuy. So if you dont have the banroll, stick to the regular 2-5 dollar mtt's, where there is no rebuys and you can play your game Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Advice in PStars 55K last night Given what you stated here about the big stack and the fact he is on the button, I totally disregard his raise here. He might be trying to get a read on the Initial raiser with his 5500 raise. I will be concerned mainly about the tight solid player who has just made it 2BB. You con't just call here. Either it's over the top all in or fold as far as I am concerned. Given the fact that UTG had been playing solid poker, I fold here and wait for a better spot to take my chance. You still have a M of 23, which is where you want to be. Why risk all your chips here (Albeit a good hand). 2 cases, i ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): how not to misplay a big stack Thanks for all the responses. In a nutshell it was a boneheaded move by me. The small blind had 180000 in chips and had been making steals fairly regularly. Just basic risk reward should have made it an instant fold for me, I mean i was risking 280000 to protect 8000 and win his 32000, does not make sense here. The minimum raise did send an alarm to me, but I outhought myself...In any event, I am glad played well to reach till 15, better luck next time... On a seperate note, let me ask you guys this. how not to misplay a big stack This is from a latest 2 dollar (i know not very big) NLHE tournament on party. Here is the gist of it. 15 players remain out of 1436 entries and I am 3 or 4th in chips with 280000. Chip leader with 480,000 to my left. I was telling myself, dont make any donk moves and i should be able to get to the final table. This one hand, the guy to my right is the small blind and i am the BB and everyone folds and the SB bumps it to 32000 to go (blinds at 8k and 16k). I am holding A10 clubs suited. I made the mistake of moving in on him and his AK held up and i was pretty much beat the next hand to ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
