Early game I always end up short stacked Is it really early that you are _always_ getting short stacked' Like before antes' If so then there is certainly something very broke in your game. I suspect you really mean the middle stages' Posted in: MTT Strategy |

Tough spot! Are we folding AA here? tough spot indeed. I do think a 3 makes up a decent part of his range. Plenty of players slow play their trips on draw heavy boards. If CDLPC2009 was a good experienced player I think this is an easy fold at this stage of the tournament. If he was a newish player I think you can safely get it in. But CDLPC2009 is an experienced and higher stakes player but not very good. Is he really bad enough to not realize you have an overpair here the majority of the time and will have a tough decision to fold' I think its unlikely he is that bad. I think overall you still have a deep ... Posted in: MTT Strategy |

facing 3-bet with ATo I did fold pre. So that being that case, my new question is what to do with ATo in the first place. I thought it was a catch 22. I figured I was going to get 3-bet a high percentage of the time, yet open folding ATo in the cutoff seems horrible. I've been thinking about other options: Maybe limping in or min raising' Posted in: MTT Strategy |

3bet pot post flop deep in the $55r. I'm kind of wondering what range we can put Moorman on. If you truly believe that he believes: "I have to have a huge hand here." I would think his range is super narrow, like sets or aces and kings himself. Even if he doesn't believe you have a huge a significant amount of the time, I doubt he check raises the flop with AJ, KJ, QJ or JT. Maybe QT or KQ' If he never has a higher jack in his range then maybe bluff catching is correct, because you are never getting him to fold worse' What if he has KQhh or QThh' That would be sick. Those are hands you do want to get it in on the ... Posted in: MTT Strategy |

3bet pot post flop deep in the $55r. Why do you assume he thinks you are bad' Deep in a tournament don't you think he looks up people's stats' And you say you've played 30 hands together: " We got embroiled in a few 3bets but not much. I 4bet bluff once and im nearly positive everyone put me on aces or kings." That seems like a lot of activity for 4 orbits or so. So this doesn't add up IMO: "given my image in his eyes, I have to have a huge hand here". As played I don't see how you can not shove on him on that wonderful turn card. I think the flop is the interesting part. Now that you've made a hand that isn't too ... Posted in: MTT Strategy |

Raise AQ, have huge draw by the turn I don't understand the advice on this hand. It would totally make sense to me if we had the ace of hearts. But not with the queen of hearts. First, on the flop. I understand we shouldn't c-bet 100% of the time. So how about on this super draw heavy board' Should we consider checking it back' When he donks the turn after calling the flop bet, doesn't a flush make up most of his range' He is certainly representing a flush, no' I suppose he might have check-raised the flop if he did have flush draw. But we are 100BB deep, so probably not' At least if we had the ace of ... Posted in: MTT Strategy |

Min raise has taken over? I think it should depend on what your table allows you to get away with. If they are folding too much to min raises, then why not' I saw an MTT video on some other site last year were the instructor was doing a lot of min raising deep in a tournament and it was working well for him. But he made it pretty clear that he does it when he is allowed to and the stack sizes make sense for it. I wonder if a lot of noobs are more apt to call minraises just because it easy to tell its a minraise. But the 2.2-2.3x raise usually has weird numbers in it so it might look bigger then it really ... Posted in: MTT Strategy |

rakeback Unfortunately I went through all that, they said I already have an affiliate, but won't tell me who. After seeing how much money I was giving up when I started tracking cash games, I closed out my account. I see Phil Gordon at work on occasion, I'm planning on asking him for some help next time. Otherwise I'll eventually have to open a new account... using my computer expertise, I think I can get away with it. Its unfortunate they have forced me and I'm sure many many other players to resort to shadiness. But I don't feel bad since there have been a bunch of cases of red ... Posted in: MTT Strategy |

Persuading my family ?? I'm not sure what your question is exactly. If you just want to prove a point that poker isn't gambling, then you'll just need time to show a long term pattern of profits. If you hoping to show your mom that you don't need to work a normal job because you want to play poker as a profession, then that is a different matter entirely. durrrr MTT challenged Some of these hands I'm reading are absurd. Here are his last two hands played in the main event to bust out. He starts with ~5150 chips, blinds are 400/200 + 50 ante. From PokerNews: Tom Dwan's quest to destroy the poker economy is over for now. Two last hands did him in. First, he opened to 1,025 pre-flop from under the gun and was called in three spots. On a 6c3cQh, Dwan tried a continuation-bet for another 1,025. One player called. From there, the two checked it down to showdown, Jh4h. Dwan's opponent turned over AcJc, to which Dwan could only stare at the ceiling and ... Posted in: Off Topic General Discussion |

$4 180man 68s flop 2 pair You can... I'm not sure if I would. In a limped pot against 3 other players, with that flop action, there is a good chance you are up against a better hand. You can probably work out the range of the UTG player and see how your 2 pair does against that range. Posted in: MTT Strategy |
