flopped low end of str8 in bb.... lead? chk call evaal? chk raise? I would definitely be betting when deeper. On this stack getting it in anywhere but the river is fine for sure. In this pot shoving the flop is fine for sure with these stacks. If deeper a little pot control on the turn is probably the best play. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Why getting a "real" job is important for you and your poker career. The funny part of this thread is that poker is a real job. It offers different schedules and freedoms as with many forms of self employment. Most people that do not take it seriously as a job will fail. There are so many decisions that decide if you will succeed or fail at this job. It has the same if not more stress than a "real job." I play poker as a job because I love poker. I put in more hours a week than most of my friends with "real jobs". With Black Friday coming I travel farther than most of my friends for work and I put in more hours often with people that I would rather not ... Posted in: Poker Community |

Theft/Scam by Horse - Warning re: Jeffrey May/SilentNut (Long) So sad to see this type of news. I have been backed on several occasions by many different people. Most times we made money a few cases we were not so fortunate for a particular series. One thing I always did was be honest, gave real results, kept contact with backers however possible, and never considered stealing or using a penny of their money for my personal use. When you are staked this is poker money. This is not life money for your bills unless stated but I would not back anyone asking me for life money. Black Friday sucked for many of us and people sadly are often scum bags. Posted in: Poker Community |

ak in small blind Pretty easy jam here. Completely different if you are much deeper but pretty easy to get it in with your stack and be happy about it. Sucks if it is a cooler but 4 bet jam is clearly best option. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Official Bankroll Management Thread Depends where you roll started. This is clearly a large chunk of your poker roll if you can not replenish it. Whether you are good or not tournament results are based on volume and a one time shot is likely fine if you can win on your now 1500 roll or can replenish your roll with non poker funds. If you are buying in for cash with 300 which I am just assuming you really do not have any significant roll so blowing 25 percent of it on a tournament seems bad if you can not replenish this roll with outside of poker money if needed. I would probably stick to grinding as poker is not fast ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

did i over play ak here, or do i just get it in vs 18bb effective stack You do have people left behind you to act with more than the opener. Is a shove really necessary with this many blinds' IMO jamming is the worst of your 3 options here. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

I need help on how to play this... or what's most profitable. I think the part that really is bad is thinking you are check shoving for value. Only calling if you are crushed and possibly with huge combo draw. But fold pre is certainly better than limp call vs someone you describe as good on the button. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

How to become a good online tournament player? If you get sick of it it may be a bad profession for you or even serious hobby. It requires discipline and you have to like it and take the good and bad together. Not sure at all your level of ability but all of the ideas listed should help including coaching, books, and training sites. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Backing Controversy with JYMASTER11 (warning very long) I will simply say compromise is needed here to be fair. I like both of these guys and feel this should not be made public for all to read and comment. Also feel that one person asked to mediate is not really the solution to this type of problem. Scammed by William Givens - imahustla1 Definitely do not feel anyone else is to blame here but Will unfortunately. The spending of the money is bad obviously whether that was for table games, living expenses, hookers, blow, etc. The failure to say what happened and update all investors was worse. The biggest necessity in any backing relationship is communication and honesty. Backers know we sometimes lose but we lose the money on what it was intended for. When we bink good for them they took a significant risk in most cases. If you somehow fuck up and the money is not there which should never happen please man up and just be ... Scammed by William Givens - imahustla1 Whatever the case all could be avoided on controversy if we just have proper communication with our backers. If you need something ask. Although it appears to not be the case here do not spend money for buy ins on anything other than buy ins as that is all the money is for with no exception. Posted in: Poker Community |

AQs 12bb bad call? This is a call and you need to chip up. You do not have a lot of poker to be played with this stack and the second shove can be much lighter than AQ unless you have information on them being extremely nitty. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Scammed by William Givens - imahustla1 I do not feel vouching for someone in a staking situation like this would cause you to be financially responsible in any way. With that said, I feel you should really only vouch for someone if you do feel that they are 100 percent trustworthy and the backer should check at least a few of your references. As someone who has been staked I hope one would check my references as I have nothing to hide and want them to feel comfortable. Will seems to be an ok guy from what I do know but I do not know him very well either. Reading these threads about scamming though saddens me as it makes it a ... Posted in: Poker Community |

Final Table Sweat Event #55 $50K buyin Player's Championship 11 bracelets, record for most WSOP cashes ever, heaps of final tables, many New York Times best selling books, heaps of money, gives more money to charity every year than most people make, and yet you can not stop talking about all that is wrong with him. I have great respect for all the live pros who have grinded the circuit and stayed afloat and playing for as long as any of these guys have. Not only is it financially draining it is physically and mentally draining to grind a ton of live events with some min cashes or small cashes. These guys have went through the highs and lows. I grinded ... Posted in: Live Poker |

Final Table Sweat Event #55 $50K buyin Player's Championship Only because I have met Phil on many occasions do I often fell the need to defend him. I have seen the side of Phil a bit that many have not seen. Like he is a great and still longtime friend coming to play Christmas home games with his old Madison buddies including 4-8 limit that literally means nothing to him. Or the fact that he is a great father. I have also seen him raise huge funds for charites by hosting events and donating his time and money. I often dislike the douchiness on television and a lot of it is real because he wants to win so bad. The one problem many of us have at poker ... Posted in: Live Poker |

Final Table Sweat Event #55 $50K buyin Player's Championship I do not at all like the last all in but you calling Phil an idiot and a donkey is absurd. I again will say anyone claiming he sucks at all forms of poker is pretty much an idiot. Does he sometimes take conservative lines not like by all because it is technically mathematically incorrect' Yes he does he also lays down hands I often do not think should be folded as well as many. He does on the other hand lay down big hands that most would go broke with often as he feels he can get free chips. Saying he sucks at poker is just dumb IMO. Posted in: Live Poker |

ft of the womens event.......a guy? I railed this ass clowns table for about 8 hours on day day 2 and all of his final table not because I had any interest in whatever douche would play the ladies event but because my sister was at his table. She ended up in 4th place. I happily railed and made some smart ass comments along with most of the rail when Mr. Epstein would win a pot. I believe he deserved any harassment he got at the tables quite frankly as he knowingly wanted to enter a ladies event. Pretty sure the understanding of anyone with common sense would understand that you do not enter this tournament unless you are a ... Posted in: Live Poker |
