Re(1): Now I lay me down to sleep...
if you had any self-control, you could have just stayed out of it. But you have none, so you couldn't. And now it's obvious you're a little girl trapped in a large moron's body.

Re(1): Did I miss value on this hand?
Just keep maxin out... if you're going to go, then you go representing the Ace which is the only thing that would have spoke loudly to him. I also think you are right in that his 5th street Ace probably paired one in his hole cards which is why he just called rather than raised. If he was the donk you said he was, then he wouldn't be smart enough to slowbet you hoping to keep you from folding at the sight of an Ace. He was staring at two of 'em and was half-scared of yours. I still think you have to represent the hidden A but if we are right, and he paired... and it was the A, then a strong ...

Re(1): What would you do?
In my extremely uneducated opinion, I think you made a p*ssy raise pre-flop. With TT, you want to take it down asap, with like 100-120 and if you get a caller, you're either dealing with a serious contender or "donkzilla the calling station" looking for a suckout. Pocket TTs have their moment but generally they suck. If Mr Quads called a strong raise, it would have very likely scared you out of that disaster.

Re(1): Poker After Dark now
Weird this is here because I saw the first part last night and got a very deep and sudden urge to pound the living fk out of Gavin about 1/10th of a second after he said his first word. I think when he stared down Negreanu, I was thinking, "Please Daniel, throw a fkng chip in his eye and tell him it was just a reaction to being so frightened." Anyways, Doyle said something about his drinking that cracked me up but I forgot what it was. I was just glad that Doyle was pretty polite but still got a good dig or two in there. Gavin should be forced to play while on a treadmill.

Re(1): When do people pay taxes on poker????
You'd be considered self-employed so you'd have to pay quarterly, I think. You'd have to guestimate your yearly earnings and pay in fourths. If they ended up owing you money, or you didn't win anything on a given quarter, I believe you could adjust payment or not make it... but if you have raging success in third quarter, you need to adjust again. It's actually pretty lenient if you keep it real and pay something quarterly based on your winnings to-date, and not if you lose...

Re(1): Can this be true, if so are the People at FT complete morons?
HAHAHAH... last week, I started a thread about a clause in FTP's "extra $10M if you won the WSOP after earning a seat through them"... I quoted a vaguely worded passage that meant they'd own you for 10 years for $660k/yr and basically get to call the shots on anything you want to do that might be considered an endorsement. People joked about it but when you see stuff like this, you just have to realize that no one gives a sht about you but you.

Happy Birthday. In all seriousness, lay off the McD's if you want to make it to your 40th. As for your mother, if she had a stroke, I'm sorry to hear it but there is very good news for stroke victims - it's called neuroplasticity. And no matter what you might think.... even the worst cases can come back with the right care. Google it... neuroplasticity and, specifically, check out a copy of the book, "The Brain That Changes Itself" If you do these things, you can thank me later... over the 2 BigFish for $3 at BK... I Need Your Help
I would like to know if anyone could recommend some ways for me to hurt myself. There were 10 players left and the tourney paid 9 places. I watched the 10th guy lose on the other table, hand for hand, so instead of folding (me BB vs SB) with an inferior hand, I thought I was good since the other jamoke lost. But apparently it doesn't count the losses til the end of the whole round since its hand by hand... So, I went all in and lost and it said I came in 8th... and all I had to do was fold and I would have def had the money. So I'm seeking recommendations on how to properly beat myself so ...

Re(2): Are You My B****? Apparently, FTP says YES...
Ah, the perils of not skimming the replies. It was a typo that was already addressed and doesn't change the question... even for $660k/yr for TEN YEARS, are you comfortable with the wording that basically means you have to run every business promotion/venture by FTP every time for TEN YEARS and that you have to drop everything and show up at the events they want you to. I can see where many would... just wondering. There might be some people who just like being their own person and can turn that $5M to $10M win into a $100M business in no time.

Re(2): Are You My B****? Apparently, FTP says YES...
Ok, nice synopsis, you should go to law school and get a degree. But my question wasn't about Full Tilt's right to protect itself. It was about what would you DO which you finally answered at the very end. So yes, it says "endorsements" but do you want to have to wrangle with lawyers when you go to start a "business" that is deemed as endorsing something that could potentially compete with them several years down the road' The point is, none of it is up to you. Even if it makes no sense to you, the only protection you have in ANYTHING that you do is their vague reassurance: "Full Tilt ...

Hey CoopDaddy... I agree that the offer is attractive but I'm trying to find out if that vague wording at the end of that section actually bothers anyone or not. I knew what I would be up against while asking it ... especially since I've already witnessed a lot of mean-spiritedness being tolerated from various members. As someone with an entrepreneurial spirit, having come from a successful family business and trying to build my own, I put the question out there to people to see who else might be entrepreneurial minded and find that vague language at the end of the section just a little ...

...your own business, for starters. But I am not saying anyone shouldn't do it. I was just asking to get a feel for how many would do it even with a vague kind of wording that suggests you basically allow Full Tilt to decide all kinds of things for you. And, apparently, you would. That's cool.

Uh-oh, Brian. I caught you. You either don't read very well, or you .... don't read at all. The question wasn't "What can I do'!" it was "What would you do'" and you are telling me, "Yes, Sam. I would gladly bend over and sell my soul to Full Tilt for 10 years for a mere $660k/yr even though I had just won $5.8M to $10M and could, instead, invest in my own poker-related business, or go back to college and study with some great masterminds and THEN open up my own business. But instead, I will do pretty much whatever they ask me to, which means I can't go live in Macau and do whatever I want ...

Now I respect that! A guy who comes right out and says, "HAND ME THE VASELINE!" but I'm sorry, there is no vaseline. After all that nice stuff you just pointed out is under way, you still have to go to them for approval on just about everything. What if, all of a sudden, you want to fly to Vegas to marry a high-school hottie sweetheart whom you just met again after 5-10 years and, when you get back, it turns out she's a raging crack whore with an addiction to bukkake with total strangers' How do you think Big Mommy Full Tilt is going to respond to that' With a BONUS' I DON'T THINK SO!

I have an idea, too. Why don't I squeeze your head down the size of a lemon so that your brain doesn't rattle around as much anymore' I'm not complaining, and I'm sorry you've had what appear to be some of the most traumatic experiences a bottom-of-the-barrel car salesman can have, but the question still stands. WAIT! Maybe it will change your mind to know that science discovered something called 'Neuroplasticity' which basically means that, even at 58yrs old, you can make your brain more flexible and adaptive as a kid again so that you could actually go back to college for 4 years and start a huge business that you could leave to your family and never have anyone tell you what to do ever again. But in your scenario, you could get a call in the middle of a session with your RealDoll and have to wipe up really fast and be in Vegas the next day....! Not that it would go down like that but remember, ...

Re(5): Are You My B****? Apparently, FTP says YES...
Ok, I understand... so what you're saying is that if you ever wanted to start that new business, you would first have to go to Full Tilt and get permission... and they would have every right to see your whole business plan and then REASONABLY deduce whether or not that business could, in some way, become competitive down the road. Believe me, in business, they have lawyers who are paid for nothing more than to ANTICIPATE disaster... But, like I said, I can easily see that most people would want to sell their soul for 10 years and just chill out doing what they love which is playing poker ...

Oh the irony... You just did what you asked me not to do. I didn't say FTP's offer was a SCAM. I described it in terms of an ass-r**ing. That's quite different. The former is an outright attempt to deceive while the latter is just really really painful. I even pointed out the very specific line where it says they get to decide what you can and can't endorse for 10 years at their discretion. I'm not even saying it's truly a bad deal... but if you would sell your freedom for 10 years for 660k/yr then you don't really value your time and potential much because any savvy person who just won ...
