Re(2): omg sick 4 bet wtf?
Instinct has got to be a part of this game! and you have to learn to trust it.. Example of why only calculating your hand value against your opponents and not factoring in instinct does not win you money. I hold the board comes . Cash game. I had called in unraised pot from small blind. On flop there was 2 dollar bet into 5 dollar pot. I Call. He checks the turn. I bet 3$ to find out were I am.He flat calls. I bet 3$ again on river and he insta shoves $25 over the top. I dont care how poorly I bet or what. My point is if I had just factored in how strong my hand was against his I would ...

Re(1): 10 7 suited please discuss
yes I heard this as well but also I have heard that alot of people like playing 4 7 suited as well. I once asked someone at the casino why they played this hand and I mean played it like it was aces. 'He said cos it has great post flop potential!' <<<What!! My response was yes on a board of 3 5 6 of spades! Edit: The hand was 4 7 spades.

Re(3): omg sick 4 bet wtf?
The question was put to those players saying what they think the guys range to be and a few of them are saying include JJ in his range and they would still call. Also Miko, Can you explain what you found funny about my suggestion that unless OP hit the flop with the A K or some sort of draw he would not really want to be calling' By the sounds of it you are suggesting that the OP flat calls but then you laugh at me and say that he isnt folding no matter what comes on the board so why not tell the OP to reraise all in preflop' The point that I was trying to make was that unless he hits on ...

Re(1): Any successful poker players ever lose passion for the game and just quit?
I read the OP and then the first post which said 'I have a passion for poker teach me'. Maybe thats not such a bad idea.. Maybe what you should do is take a step away from playing the game but still stay around it by teaching others to play. I am sure that you will find that you miss it after a while. I am a little like you in that I have a bit of an obsessive personality...I am getting to the stage where I am starting to really get to grips with online. I play better live than I do online. I dont envy you at all. Why not try and learn a new form of poker (I dont know if you play any other ...

Hypothetical Question: Live game. Same Scenario as OP. If you have made the raise as above like OP and then you see that you have been reraised but you catch a glimpse of his/her cards and see that he has pocket Jacks. Would you call'

Re(1): omg sick 4 bet wtf?
In my opinion: The reraise (even though he leaves himself only 20k behind) is a sign of strength. Although this doesnt necessarily mean he is strong. I think it shows strength because you know that you cant flat call cos the chances of him shoving on the flop are very high and unless you hit your ace or king or at least the straight draw you cant call. Well you could but would you want to' Also I think that you have to consider what Believer was raising with under the gun' Could he have been raising with an ace or say something like KQ' If so then some of your outs have gone..How long have ...

Re(1): AA - 1st Hand of 9man SNG
I would stick in a larger raise preflop. Then when you get called you know that he has some sort of hand and I would include the A 10 as one of them. I think you do pretty well to not go broke on this hand cos I think most people would have pushed on the flop and I am pretty sure you would have been called. Overall I think the main thing is make that bigger raise preflop but the fact that he has already made a raise perhaps indicates that he would probably call this bet anyway. Do you think if you had gone all in the other player would have called' At the end of the day you want this call ...

Re(1): Poker After Dark-you choose 5
Worst nightmare for losing all my money lol but DREAM table of pro's would be: Phil Hellmuth, Patrik Antonius, Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey and Jennifer Harman. I dont mind losing all my money to them just as long as they all offer me an hour of their time answering every and all of my questions...and also a prop bet that if I beat anyone of them in 3 pots that they have to make me their protege for a year!! ha ha For the 2 internet players I would have Annette and after reading a post about menlo I would invite him. *edit. I changed my mind (sorry Jennifer) but if I am gonna spend a few hours ...

Re(9): if you had $500k, and you could choose any one player to represent you from all seasons of HSP...
Watched a few of these high stakes episodes in the last season so dont really know anyone from 1 or 2 but I would choose Antonius. Watching him play sometimes is awesome. dont get me wrong I also saw him make some crap plays as well but I watched him in the Aussie Millions Cash Game and he ruled that (well so far anyway, god I love ). I would definitely not give it to Farha man that guy should just give the other players his money and go and play the tables!

Re(1): Very strange situation at the casino.
Dont know if its allowed but usually if a card has been exposed in one of the games I am dealing I leave the card face up on the table while the flop is dealt. Then when the flop is dealt I flip the card into the muck. It just gives everyone an even chance cos they are all paying attention when the flop is dealt so I just say it again 'xx exposed' and then muck it. In my opinion the house should pay for its mistake, the dealer represents the house..I cant belive the casino didnt just pay out any way its not like it would go broke for giving a player $200. Plus, if I was the casino manager, I ...

SNG Structure any advice
I play home game sit and go;s with friends quite alot and at Christmas we usually have a £100 buy in. The normal structure we play is; 2000 chips/10 mins blinds but the blind doubles every time so 100/200 - 200/400 - 400/800. This structure seems fine when only playing for smaller £5-10 stakes but I was wondering what a decent structure would be for the higher buyin.. Would you start with more chips' Increase blind level times' or Run normal blind increases' Any advice would be appreciated as I want to make the game as fun as possible but also not a crapshoot that only lasts 20mins. ...

My golden rule when playing a set is that if there are 2 cards that connect for the straight or flush I ALWAYS BET... probably not the most profitable play but man it hurts when you let someone in cheap and they hit their draw!

Re(1): Have you ever been stunned...
I get them all the time but the thing I keep telling myself is that as long as I keep getting my money in with good cards I can handle the bad beats and the bad calls cos eventually they are gonna miss that card and the money is coming to me! Last night I was playing a tourney..chip leader raises UTG and I look down at KK so I reraise my whole stack cos I know that the chip leader is a bully.. button calls all in with J 9 (her whole stack) chip leader as expected folds.. flop J 9.. I say 'good call' 'well played' 'It benefits the rest of the table that you suck at poker' she actually thought ...

Re(1): Can i please get some help on my beting, i mean is it bad ? or am i unlucky?
Reading the Hand History that you have put above I think you are posting in the wrong section some of these are truly worthy of a bad beat post!! To be honest I dont think you play them that badly. In the first hand you are just unlucky that you walked into a poor player with a big chipstack. He reraises when there are only 2 cards that can help him for certain. Poor play I think. KK vs AA you cant really beat yourself up on this. Honestly looking at the histories it looks to me like its your oponents that are playing bad in some cases. Not you. It does get sickening when you seem to keep ...

Re(2): interesting .5/1 6max spot
IMO - Zen if the villain is drawing to a flush then OP should call because the spade gives the nuts or have I read it wrong' I think that he is either playing JJ/QQ/KK or the rockets I think this because I am not sure I would call such a raise if I didnt have one of these. I think that an over pair to the board is a most likely choice here cos I have seen it played like this a thousand times were they insta shove when they are holding the over pair in the pocket. I have also seen 99 played the same way and like one of the posts above says they are hoping you are playing AK and that you will ...

I to have a desire for truth but we know the truth. In a way we should look on this whole situation as a blessing in disguise.. its highlighted a real problem with online poker. I am not totally sure how you can regulate something so big as online poker but thats for the sites to decide. I think perhaps the pro's have come out saying forgive and forget because they know that this could really damage online poker if it doesnt go away soon...maybe

Imperium Should NOT be banned from this site.
I know what the guy did was bad..but who cares. I would still listen to his opinion on poker cos at the end of the day he is still a great player! In my opinion all you guys that have turned your back on him and are calling for him to be banned from this site are crazy! I come on here to try and gain further insight into the brilliant game that is poker and I am sure alot of you guys and gals do to..so why would we want to deprive ourselves of someone who clearly can play winning poker and is willing to offer advice' I genuinely hope that he is not banned from this site. Re(2): Hand for Hand for Final Table
I had a similar hand to this on the site that I play on (it enables you to show the cards that you are folding when you are heads up/in a showdown) I had and like in this situation had been raised twice in a row on my big blind by the same player. The 2 previous times I had folded on this occasion I just flat called. The board came something like . I shoved all my stack in straight away and he showed that he was folding a pair of fours. I to thought about reraising all in preflop but had I done (with this flop) I would still be looking for help. I think that on this flop I still have a ...

Re(1): Easiest fold ever orrrrr...
First of all I have only ever played at this level a couple of times online but in my opinion I dont think this is a straight forward fold unless you had a solid read. I wouldnt be to quick to assume that he already has the best hand. One thing that screamed at me was he is playing . I think that I would call the min raise and see if he slows down on the turn assuming no club hits. Plus if you think he does have a straight K 10 if the club does hit then you just improved your hand slightly as you would also be drawing to the flush. A 3rd Club on the board might just slow him down if he is ...

Low Stakes Beat Down
I have been using pocket fives for over a year now and when I first started reading the posts I found some of them to be really helpful and they did help improve my game. Just lately I am getting annoyed at some people that post giving hand advice. I have read a number of posts over the past year in the hand advice section from people playing on low stakes games such as $1 sngs/$2sngs and micro limit cash games. The player that posts is clearly seeking advice and some of the replies that are posted are totally unreal in that rather than give advice they say '$2 donk n go' or ...

Re(5): Chris Vaughn should be fired from Bluff Magazine
Totally agree with Ozzie.. and was thinking exactly the same thing about the WSOP no one suspects foul play when Jerry Yang a total unheard of wins the biggest prize in poker! I think threebanger needs to get a life and quit with the cheap shots. Personally how can anyone be surprised' One of the first things I learnt about poker, not just online, was that where money is involved some people will cheat to win. I read this in the first poker book I ever read..(wasnt a very good one just some crappy beginners guide) but it actually said to beware of people cheating.

I know that she posts a few positive reviews from previous 'customers' but I was wondering if anyone else has had a lesson and weither they found it beneficial' Basically, please give me your thoughts if you think it will be worth having a lesson or not' Cheers

Concentration
Sometimes when I play poker I find that I get into a 'zone' where I can concentrate on pretty much everything thats going on at the table, I pick up tells and my reading is spot on. Other times I just cant seem to get into that same groove. I have read an article about over the counter stimulants that can help you concentrate for long periods. Has anyone used any of these or can they recommend a method or some sort of preparation before starting to play a long tourney. I play alot of sng's at the minute but want to start playing in the larger MTT's I just want to be fully prepared before I ...

Re(1): how should i have played this
I think the key to this hand is the cards that you think he has been agressive with previous. If he has been betting any Ace hard then you fold if the Ace hits. The question is even if you had shoved preflop what was the likelyhood that he would call with any Ace' JJ is always tricky especially when the board looks like that. All in preflop in my opinion is not the best move either.. on one of the posts Brian says that you should shove and that you might get a donk calling with K9 if he thinks he has tilted you. This is exactly what you dont want. In my opinion if another player at the table ...
