i think it's pretty fair to say that most of the important US poker ppl had some prior warning. the dude that ratted out the sites was let go like 6 months prior to black friday. Soon after that..... Phil Helmuth/Annie Duke "leave" UB (even tho they were allegedly part owners and derived the vast majority of their income from sponsorship or part ownership of UB, however u wanna look at it) FTP introduces multi entry tourneys soon after, seemed like a greedy money grab at the time, and really really looks very shady now ****had several more but im falling asleep sidenote, everyone knows ...

The rake in live tournaments is far too much...
the wsop is outrageous, it makes hundreds of millions from espn, endorsements, the table action it brings in, and on and on, and yet still, has the highest rake of any major tourney series. its a joke, and I dont see why there isnt an organized effort by the players to stop this, particularly big names that have major pull. And if harrahs doesnt tone down the straight robbery, the top players just make their own tourney series, ppl will follow the names, especially if its better.

Pros and Cons of the remaining U.S. Sites
Im sorry, but i wouldnt put money on any site anytime soon from the US, unless u simply have a major gambling problem, otherwise imo it's really foolish. 1. US Govt. just seized the 2 largest, most secure sites on the planet at the drop of a hat, and an assload of their (our) money. 2. see #1 3. How the hell are they gonna cash u out without doing the exact same thing as ftp/stars just got busted for lol' FTP hasnt been able to cash US customers out for like 2 months prior to all this, U really think bootleg sites that have 1/10 of the sophistication/connections as ftp are gonna cash u out ...

Live mtt tipping at casinos that already hold back % for staff
Something around 3% is usually standard. If they are raking 13% or somthing crazy, they are taking out at least 3% for dealers, or it could be dealers+floor ppl combo but i highly doubt the dealers arent getting 3% somehwere out of that. But, most places have fine print that says what percentage goes to the dealers etc. If u want a straight answer, just ask one of the dealers and they will usually know what % they are working for (some could lie like this floorperson to try and get more money, but most just tell u how it is). ive heard horror stories tho about places screwing the dealers over ...

I wish Ron Paul or someone respected by most would come out in players defense on TV this week (I know he has in the past) to raise awareness on this issue from our point of view, not just the one line simplistic summary of the news organizations ive seen which say basically, "fbi seized poker sites becauase they are laundering illegal gambling money and committing fraud" like they are some kind of gangsters stashing drug money (when in reality our govt. is doing some sort of mafia shakedown). the poker forums are only working half the time for me today, is this because of server traffic, or some Libya Gaddafi govt. style communication/free speech suppression bs lol' im sure it's server overloads, but nothing would surprise me at this point, with their mafia style shakedown today. Country is 14 trillion below broke and we are using our resources for this' makes sense
