I would honestly say not much. I can take a kid who is 11 and never played before and get him caught up too a junior who started at 5 pretty quickly. Their bodies changes so much during that time period. I would say the experience is valuable though. This kid has really only been playing for a year and half, and is one of the best in the state. He can hit his driver about 200 yards on the reg. He also hit flop shots better than I do.

Had one of my juniors (age 8) win his local qualifier for the National Drive, Chip, and Putt by 8 points yesterday, then I caddied for him this afternoon and he won his USKidsgolf tournament by 8 shots, shooting 38 (should have been like 35). He's going to be really good.

Then we can take the too much out to in swing path problem out of the equation. The hook or draw could actually be caused by hitting it on the toe slightly ie "toe hooks". Another big reason for toe shots is what we call "early extension" that is where you lose posture thru the impact zone. Essentially, it means your butt is getting closer to the ball while your spine goes the other way to maintain balance.

There can be many reason for hitting it off the toe including standing too far away from the ball. What sort of ball flight do you have' Fades' Hooks' Pulls' Pushes' Most people who hit it off the toe have a swing path that is too much from outside to inside.

While I totally believe in Aimpoint, its not nearly as easy as it seems. You have to be able to determine slope with your feet by "feel." If you think its 2 degrees and its actually 3 degrees, you will miss read just like you would using your eyes. Same with the Stimp (speed) of the greens. You have to have those things correct, which can be learned, but if they are both not right you will still miss the putt. So it takes a lot of practice, they actually make "slope readers" where you can practice getting the feel of what "2 degrees" feel like.

Yea from that setup position, it requires you to be "handsy" You're having to close the clubface thru impact with excess face rotation (flipping). If you time it right it works, if your timing is off you can miss it both ways. We want your "rate of closure" to be smaller. Using your body turn to close the clubface thru impact. It will feel like you are hitting punch shots for just a little while. Like I said you do a lot of good stuff. Well Done.

I like what you do. Good Stuff! Where do your misses go' Over hooks' Occasional block to the right' I would be changing your setup just a little bit. Higher hands and creating just a little more space between your hands and your body.

I concur. Range work is block practice, course play is random practice. Your job on the course is to get in the hole in as few shots as possible. I want my students on the course to only have an impression of what shape of the shot they are trying to create and where the ball is going to end up and letting their swing create that shot.

I have some of my students put a scorecard on the ground 1 inch behind the ball. The goal of the drill is to hits balls without hitting the scorecard. The only way you will be able to do this is to get your weight or center of gravity slightly ahead of the ball at impact. We want the low point of your swing to be a couple inches ahead of the ball IE hitting down thru the ball instead of "scooping" which leads to 50/50 fat thin shots. You will hit more crisp shots and should get some of your distance back.

I like where your going with this. You need to work on your downswing sequence. It needs to start with a small bump of your hips towards the target (gets your weight on your front foot), then let the club drops as you start to turn your hips and torso on your front leg, instead of your back leg. The low point of your swing is too far toward the back of hitting area. My guess is you hit about the same amount of slightly fat shots as slightly thin shots'

You want to film either "down the line" which is from the backside right down your target line at about hand height or "face-on" at about hand or waist height. Yours was kinda like about half way in between either of those.

I'm sure the media will try to pressure them into it, claiming women's rights trump the rights of a private club. Generally Augusta is HAF, though.

Here is some advice without seeing your swing. You need to learn how to hit "1/2" shots if you are going to continue to hit yourself into that position. What I do with my students is use their PW, GW, SW, LW. I make them learn how far they hit each with three different length backswings (club shaft parallel with ground, arm parallel with ground, and what I call "3/4" swing) We do this often and get essentially 12 (4 clubs X 3 length swings) average different distances. Several will be similar but will come in at different trajectories. It takes practice, but once you have any idea about the ...

What were your path, face to path, and angle of attack #'s' When on trackman. Sounds to me as if your instructor was trying to get you to shift laterally in order for you to make your path go a little bit more left, so you could control the right to left ball flight' Do you hit it fat more often or thin more often or equal amounts of each'

Can probably fixed, but it wont be worth it. My guess is the trade in value of that putter is probably like 40 bucks, and the cost to fix it will be more if it can be done.

Tigers choices now are block right because his path is too "right" or try to fix it by flipping his hands and hooking it. Needs to feel like he is cutting in from left to right, it would go pretty straight. Frustrating to watch can only imagine how he feels.

Its called Get Golf Ready. Its designed for almost total beginners. Its group lessons, usually I have between 4 to 8 adults in it. I would not recommend it for someone who has experience. You will be bored going over how to hold the putter and how to make a tee time. It is a good deal for a total beginners 5 lessons for usually $99 but they are group lessons.

The ES14 will only give basic information such as Ball Speed, Clubhead Speed, Launch Angle, and some spin numbers. I dont think it would be a good use of $425. Use it on lessons from a very good instructor.

What's your best purchase ever?
I would also recommend waiting for a bit before going and getting a Flightscope or Trackman evaluation. If you cant be somewhat consistent the distance, path, face, and AoA numbers arent going to mean much. We use those devices to have a starting point and to see if improvement is actually happening. You also realize if your getting lessons and the instructor has one, they are not going to be cheap, but the instructor has put in time and money into his teaching ability.

Waste Management Phoenix Open - Tiger's back
I thought his comedic "Im just doing this interview so I don't get fined" was pretty funny considering the way he played. He is caught between his old steeper swing from Foley and his new shallower swing from Como. It really shows in his short game, that was the worst 2 day performance by a tour pro I have ever seen. He missed the green from inside 15 yards like 5 times. The difference is also why he bladed 2 sand shots the past 2 days. Its going to take a while for him to get used to the new swing, especially under pressure.
