Shot 70 (-2) yesterday. lol hit 16 greens in regulation. Only 3 birdies and one was a two putt from 12 feet. Could have easily shot 65 or so. Didn't putt bad, they just wouldnt go in! Luckily won a skin.

The tour average is like -1. Hitting up reduces spin and helps with Launch angle. In general terms the one that hit "down" are a little straighter, the ones who it up are longer but not quite as straight because to hit up on it you have to generally have a pretty in to out or rightward swing path. Bantares, without seeing a face on video. Most people who cant maintain a straight arm thru impact is because they are hitting to much down and they bend the elbow to "shallow" out their swing otherwise the club would take a huge divot to the point of almost stopping the club. My guess is that your ...

The reason most people hit either irons or woods better, is because they should actually be different swings. Irons are best hit with a negative Attack Angle, woods are best hit with a 0 or positive Attack Angle. When you try to do the wrong one, the results almost always suffer.

I would be checking your grip, first. Your clubface is wide open at the top of your swing. You come "over the top" because if you didnt your ball would go quite a bit to the right. Clearing your hips would only make that problem worse not better. If your grip was "ok" I would be getting you to feel like the clubface is going back "closed" on the back swing.

LOL Fox interviews Kinsler and asks him 2 stupid questions about Day and not even one about his round. Pros rarely shoot the breeze during rounds let alone during the grind of the US Open.

Usually when you drag it back inside, you also use your hands and wrists more instead of shoulders, so that would be consistent with what I stated earlier. Show a video from Down the Line.

To create a "block" the clubface is square to your swing path, but the path is pointed to far to the right. It can be created in many different ways, which without video its hard to pinpoint the reason. It sounds to me like your face is probably open most of your swing and with longer clubs you cant get the clubface "closed" so you cant get it to draw or hook. I would be checking my wrist positions. I would check to make sure my left wrist is flat at the top of my swing and still flat through the downswing. Most people get a slightly cupped wrist as they drop the club down from the inside ...

I would honestly say not much. I can take a kid who is 11 and never played before and get him caught up too a junior who started at 5 pretty quickly. Their bodies changes so much during that time period. I would say the experience is valuable though. This kid has really only been playing for a year and half, and is one of the best in the state. He can hit his driver about 200 yards on the reg. He also hit flop shots better than I do.

Had one of my juniors (age 8) win his local qualifier for the National Drive, Chip, and Putt by 8 points yesterday, then I caddied for him this afternoon and he won his USKidsgolf tournament by 8 shots, shooting 38 (should have been like 35). He's going to be really good.

Then we can take the too much out to in swing path problem out of the equation. The hook or draw could actually be caused by hitting it on the toe slightly ie "toe hooks". Another big reason for toe shots is what we call "early extension" that is where you lose posture thru the impact zone. Essentially, it means your butt is getting closer to the ball while your spine goes the other way to maintain balance.

There can be many reason for hitting it off the toe including standing too far away from the ball. What sort of ball flight do you have' Fades' Hooks' Pulls' Pushes' Most people who hit it off the toe have a swing path that is too much from outside to inside.

While I totally believe in Aimpoint, its not nearly as easy as it seems. You have to be able to determine slope with your feet by "feel." If you think its 2 degrees and its actually 3 degrees, you will miss read just like you would using your eyes. Same with the Stimp (speed) of the greens. You have to have those things correct, which can be learned, but if they are both not right you will still miss the putt. So it takes a lot of practice, they actually make "slope readers" where you can practice getting the feel of what "2 degrees" feel like.

Yea from that setup position, it requires you to be "handsy" You're having to close the clubface thru impact with excess face rotation (flipping). If you time it right it works, if your timing is off you can miss it both ways. We want your "rate of closure" to be smaller. Using your body turn to close the clubface thru impact. It will feel like you are hitting punch shots for just a little while. Like I said you do a lot of good stuff. Well Done.

I like what you do. Good Stuff! Where do your misses go' Over hooks' Occasional block to the right' I would be changing your setup just a little bit. Higher hands and creating just a little more space between your hands and your body.
