Re:Satellite Bubble (Hypothetical Ethics Question - please help settle a debate) Wouldn't this fall under standard strat' Make moves that are the most +EV at any given situation. Your job/objective is to win all the chips, by doing so within the rules set. I don't know of a rule "you must play each player the same regardless of skill level," nor should you ever. I think another way to look at the situation is to invert it; If a bad // new player is playing to bust a good // in a trap // sneaky situation, instead of playing abc poker, would that be unethical if he's playing ABC poker against everyone else' Seems like a good idea though, but then ... Re:Ruling on Brandon Cantu hand in WSOP I don't disagree with ruling on the felt stands. Yes, it's a tough break. I just think that this deep in the biggest event of the year its crucial to get the right ruling. I revert to players deserving better of the floor, especially this deep with this much money on the line. Not only does it not encourage players to start up playing poker, but it makes it less fair for those who do this stuff for a living. (I'm not one of those.) This really doesn't encourage players to come out and pony up cold hard cash. If you with bad rulings and bad judgement, it negatively effects the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Ruling on Brandon Cantu hand in WSOP Lets look at the bottom line of the situation: -It was forward motion, and the guy was looking AT CANTU when he did it. = obv angle -Cantu called the floor, they ruled WRONG WHY DIDNT THEY ASK FOR THE TAPE!' - They had 4 cameras there when he MADE THE MOTION and the video evidence needed. ----------------------------------------------------------- IMO: The only thing I don't understand is why cantu didnt ask for them to pull the tape. The floor of the ME should be embarrassed by this year, and by two BIG violations with blatant disregard for the rules: The PH BLOWUP on national TV at ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:I think as played I call, other options? i'd agree w/ ya. c-bet commits your stack on a draw / underpair. Best case scenario is to hit a scare card & posture AK, hit your strait and felt him, but there are MANY friendly cards that can turn for you. I'd try to get there cheaply if possible. Not a poor play, and i've done far far worse. I guess this is how you learn, right' sotti your welcome to PM me if you wanna trade some more HH's. GL at the tables. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:I think as played I call, other options? interesting hand, a situation i've found myself in. I usually think of the hand like this, when you play a small PP against a bigger PP, if you don't flop a set, your throwing it away, right' Your thinking going into the hand was similar, right' Then you get in a sticky situation. You figure now you have 2 outs [for the set, which would give you a made hand vs a good starting hand] and 8 for the open ender. As played it seems i'd try to draw cheaply, and if a scare card comes i'm getting out of it. You played the hand partially for deceptive value as well, of no A or K / Q ... Re:1-2 live nl, 3 hands, did I make the right plays? ^^ Somewhat agree. slightly curious how "new table" and "good read" can come up though. If it's a new table I like to find any excuse not to get involved. Esp live moreso than online. You could be up against the biggest nit in the world who would only call with KT there, then your mostly dead, let alone TT. Hand two, I'd be concerned about Ax, QTs or JTs or hands like that that were flushing. Hand 3, Stack off at this limit unless you have a daniel N style read. [And reach for your wallet] Not saying you played poorly, I'd just advise excersizing pot control ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:No sin in laying down AK fishy replying so don't take my word for it but; if its that early and your shoving a full stack in esp in a lower buy-in event [8$] and you consider yourself a decent player it seems to be -ev to call here. Your basically coinflipping at best, maybe drawing slim. (IF you put him on AA/KK/QQ) with low blinds and plenty of time there's no need for a squeeze here. phil H doesn't like to risk too many chips early in a tournament, and i'm inclined to agree with him. Pick a better spot when you have him 70/30. you don't have enough equity in the pot to make it worthwhile. If ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

BR builder/spadeclub/rant [first post] Hi p5ers, I've been reading the forums for awhile, been playing about 3-5 years. Started off playing 5$ home tournies, moved up [Can't go down, right'] Anyway, I take down my homegames reguarly, do OK live in 4/8 limit and 2/5 nl cash games at a local casino. Overall a break-even to moderate cash player and I do moderately well in MTT's. I was wondering if any of you have signed up for spadeclub, and if anyone would be interested in swaping some HH's. Thanks, and gl at the tables p5ers. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
