If they hit the muck they're dead. Announcing your hand without showing it doesn't count. If he flipped them over and tossed them into the muck face up or something there might be some discussion, but if he threw them face down in the muck they're dead. Next hand.

Re:Couple of issues with my game
If you're serious about building your roll and you're playing sit-n-go's you should follow a 1% rule, imo. 5% is too much to invest in high-variance games. Think about it, five or six game slides w/ no cashes isn't a crazy out of reach thing, but that can be 25-30% of your bankroll, poof, gone.  If 1% is too little for you try to only play in games that you have 70-80 buy-ins in. If you wanna take shots too try games you have 35-45 buy-ins in, but save the 5% rule for cash games.  If you do this I think you'll find long term stability, the ability to stay away from tilt ...

Re:Tournies or Cash Games???
My bread and butter was, and in a large part still is the 3.30 Turbo KO's on fulltilt. I created a bankroll out of them pretty quickly and have been able to move up to the 6.50's and can take shots at the 13's occasionally (I really should take more, but once I committed to nitting up w/ br management I can't break free).  Fields are TERRIBLE and they only take 1.75-2 hours to win. Also, they're VERY easy to multitable since your first few levels are all easy decisions.

First Actual Brag and Thank You
Even though it's not much of a brag I made my first "real" final table. I ended up taking 7th in the 17K guarantee last night on FTP and even though it still left me short of my first four figure score, it was nice to make a final table. It was kind of a let down since I was chip leader with 12 left, but one misplayed hand on the final table bubble saw me enter the final table 8 of 9. I just wanted to thank everyone in hand advice who's helped me step my game up since I signed up here in 2007, you guys are great and I hope next time I have a brag to report it'll be my ...

Re:Please dissect this one for me. Did I play it wrong or just get unlucky?
There's something to be said for flatting the flop because you give your opponent a chance to hit something that will keep him in the hand, but that's something I mainly save if I'm in position because I can control the pot size on the turn if he checks to me. Here, if you flat and check to him again he can check behind putting no more money in the pot. Also, if a worse card hits the turn the action may freeze up (as it did in this hand). Your opponent can only wonder what you check called the flop with {5x, 10x, maybe two overs' but unlikely, maybe a smaller pocket pair}. Most ...

Re:AKo in the SB vs EP raise
3bet all-in 22,000 into a 2600 pot' That doesnt seem correct. Seems like too much of a situation where I only get called by hands beating me or in a race. Late in these tournies there's so much value from raping the average and even small stacks that it doesn't seem worth it to risk so much in such a weird spot. Thoughts'

Re:AKo in the SB vs EP raise
So basically what you're saying is that by re-raising I'll have a better idea of what my opponents range is if he four bets. But should I be calling an all-in four bet here' I feel like most of the time I'm going to be way behind in this spot if I do call and re-raising then essentially turns my AK into a bluff because it's unlikely he's going to just flat, he'll usually either push or fold.  That being said people do some pretty crazy shit w/ some pretty random hands in the 3.30s even late in the tournaments. There's a chance he'll call an all-in 3bet and ...

AKo in the SB vs EP raise
3.30 90 man on FT, 19 remain, 9 get paid I play these quite a bit and want to hit the FT w/ at least 30K. Blinds are 300/600 w/ 50 ante. My stack is ~22,000.  I pick up AKo in the SB. UTG+1 w/ ~23,000 raises to 1550, folds to my SB.  Here a few questions arise. 1.) Do you re-pop here' Conventional wisdom suggests you want to end the hand before the flop since I'm OOP, but do I really want to call a 4bet shove for my stack' With the stack sizes it's unlikely UTG+1 is re-shoving AQ and below. Best case scenario would be 99-QQ deciding to re-shove and I'm in a race. There are so ...

Re:Think this call is to light?
If the villain has been super active, pushing a lot to no resistance then you're right in assessing his range as fairly wide, but K9 is an easily dominated hand and you have to call a raise all-in. When I have ~10bb late in a tournament I want to be the one raising all-in for the added chance of folds and free money picked up. I understand your argument and if you were a big stack and relatively sure you could call off 10BB in a 60/40 with no one coming in behind you then yeah, I think you can make this call sometimes, but for your tournament life I wait for a better ...

Re:Hand from Deep in 21k KO on Tilt
That's a good point that I didn't necessarily consider. The flat from the other stack worries me, as the first raiser puts roughly 25% of their stack in pre, that flat caller has to know the first player is committed to playing for all his chips. (i.e. if he was attempting a terrible steal attempt with his stack he'd more likely raise to 15,000 or 18,000 rather then 24,000). If he had a hand that AK has good equity against, but doesn't want to play with multiple people he's probably raising to 100,000 to put the first player all-in and commit himself to the pot. With ...

Re:Made a real mess in midnight madness
You're just a victim of stack sizes here. Definitely don't open-fold. I like your raise size, and the fact that you get two callers and create a pot of almost 3K is good as long as you see a good flop, which by most accounts you do. You're expecting AK or JJ to re-raise pre with those stack sizes. The only hands you'd really have to dread being behind to are AJ, and 22. On the flop though, I'm usually make a little bit larger of a bet so that I can jam the turn and it's not an overbet of the pot. So instead of 1400 I'm looking to make it 1800-2100 so that I can jam ...

Re:What do you guys do in this spot?
That's why playing hands like 1010 UTG are so tricky. You need to be aware of what kind of players are calling your raises pre and what their tendencies are post flop. You now know that your opponent is the type to flat call with big pairs in pos, but knowing that previously would have helped. Knowing if he's the type to take people off c-bets would help as well. As a rule of thumb I don't think 1010 is ahead that often in this spot. Your opponent called your raise, but it was 4BB pre, not 2.5x or 3, is a 9 in his range' Is he pushing here with 88' Unlikely. I don't really ...

Re:Hand from Deep in 21k KO on Tilt
I don't really like getting 40+ BB in pre-flop this late in a tournament. There are too many opportunities to exploit average stacks and players trying to place higher this late. I think I flat in this spot. The raise size is too awkward, if you 3bet you basically turn AK into a bluff because you're not really going to want to play a 4bet seeing as most of the time you'll be behind or a race with 1010-QQ. At first glance I would think you'd go broke on that flop anyway, but that's a pretty tough flop and if your opponents are willing to commit it's unlikely you'd ...

Re:Did I learn everything there is to learn from this situation or am I missing some pieces?
Now, I'm strongly resisting the urge to tell you to stop being results oriented, but I realize that without explaining why you're being so that's pretty pointless. While you are giving the sb good pot odds you have to keep in mind that pot odds are only one factor to consider in poker. Before you even look at the odds you're laying the SB with your shove you have a few more important factors to consider. One: You hold the 3rd best starting hand in NLHE. Two: You started the hand with 25bb, raised 3bb and are proposing that you call off another 7 and possibly fold after that ...

Re:help with hand
Has he four bet you when there's been a different OR is my question. If villain has four bet a raise and a re-raise multiple times I doubt it necessarily means he has had poor hands. If he's been getting into betting wars with you specifically where you raise, he re-pops, you 3 bet and he shoves then it's possible he's making a move, but still 4 betting is a very difficult move to make with a sub-premium hand. Other considerations: If you fold you're left with roughly 20bb which is a playable stack. You'd be loading your re-shove gun which honestly I find a much ...

You have roughly 12 BB, you have raise in front of your QQ, 3 handed. You're not going to find a much better spot in poker to get all your chips in pre-flop. You just got unlucky.

Re:Whats your river play?
Checking behind is a safe play, not risking anything else and allowing you to see your opponents hand. The way it was played may have been a slow played set, but it feels more like an A who didn't want to fold. The only question is would a naked A even called the river bet' Do you think he's capable of checking with a set or bigger two pair three times' The only other line I could see here for the villain if he is ahead and didn't lead the river is a hand like A8 that flopped a big hand, but saw two ugly cards come off and decides to play it safe. You did raise from EP, and ...

Out of Position Against An Aggressive Player Shorthanded
Button (villain): $86.00 SB: 94.00 BB (hero): 120.00 Blinds: .50-.50 Notes: Button is aggressive and will bluff multiple streets. Known to overbet and make large all-in overbets on the river. Honestly, after three years of play it's 50/50 between a bluff and the best hand. Hero's hand: Ah10h Pre-flop: button raises to $2.00, sb: folds, bb: calls Pot: 4.50 Flop: 9s 8c Ad BB: bets 3.00 Button: quickly raises to 12.00.
