Poker journey hits a major road block There are different levels of complexity in the game, which I read somewhere (supersystem', post here'). You need to play only 1 level above your competition to beat them. If you are operating 2+ levels above, your game is too complex and your moves will actually backfire on you (3 bet check raise bluff, etc) in the microlevels. Are you playing Limit or No Limit' In LHE, an ABC approach will work quite well up to $1/$2, which would get you a BR above $1000, and you'd be off to the races. Above this, you'll need to add layers to your game and mix it up. I can't speak for NLHE, as I don't ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

First Win!! I've finally managed to incorporate some of the tournament strategy that I keep reading here and finally won a tournament on Stars! It was only a $2.20 180 man, but it was cool to see tournament strategy work. I was much more aggressive (I'm a TAG LHE cash player normally) and put a bunch of people on decisions for their stack. Thanks to all the ranked players who post regularly so I can learn. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Do you get anything for a Royal Flush on FullTilt? I've had a straight flush live using both hole cards. All of the bad beat jackpots where I play live require you to use both hole cards too. I made a royal flush on Pacific Poker and got sent a hat that got lost in the mail. This hand, I had KQc, flop had JTc and the Ac came on the turn. So, using both cards would have fulfilled any requirement, but apparently, nothing but a stale crumble mailed to me that once resembled a cookie is the prize....lol Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:full tilt poker not able to update? july 8th I'm having the same problem. Was going to sit down and play for a bit, but it won't download the update. From the sounds of things, it might be a good thing since it seems to freeze on every hand. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): do u lay down aa on t42 board in this cash game? In that situtation, my micro-donk brain tells me you're up against a set 95% of the time. The only question is it TT or 44' I'm looking to limp in with both against a raise hoping to make the set. If the board is rainbow, I check call and then raise on the turn. With the 2 hearts, I play a set exactly the same way as he did, trying to protect against a big suited Ace of hearts and hoping that you have an overpair. All in all, I like your fold and taking the profit with you! Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Deal with the IDIOTS!!!!!! Ok, I see the misplay here. I'll call a raise with KQ if I've got a decent stack (M>10). Maybe you guys can tell me if I blew it too. $24 buyin $4500 guar on FTP today. Blinds are 120/240. I'm on the button with AA (Stack of 7000). Min raise from UTG (9000), button plus one calls(6500). I reraise to 2500. Original raiser folds, villian calls. Flop 884. He checks, I push, snap call. Of course he has 44 for the boat, I don't improve and end up going out very shortly afterwards. Did I misplay the AA here or did I just get the variance shaft' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): pacific poker Used to be my home site that I did very well at, but with the online gaming act, the ring games dried up and it became hard to get a LHE game. Tourney structure licks, as does the SNG, so it was best as a cash site. Not enough players = poor site. It sucks because it was a very fishy site. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Omaha CASH Discussion-impossible spot(YTIU please reply) or any other highstakes omaha dudes. All the Omaha I've played has been lower limits, but the way he played the hand screamed QQ to me. It's exactly how I'd play a top set against an agressive opponent. QQxx is a strong hand, but probably not enough to repop you preflop. AAxx isn't really an option as they for sure would pot reraise preflop. Extremely tough laydown 3 handed, not sure that I could do it. Given the situation, I probably cry as I make the call. In a full ring table, I could see a limpy bet on the turn to see if he raises to try to see if he's got top set, then you know and can get away from it. I find that I get ... Unfortunately, you suck at cash games and we regret your recent losses while players of superior skill robbed you blind. Perhaps you should stick to golf. Re(1): How much... (Warning Bankroll question to cash game players) I'll answer the limit side for holdem and omaha. Bankroll for me is 200-400 BB, when I hit 400, I'll move up a level and down when I drop below 200. I always sit with 20BB, which gives you some flexibility and doesn't get you pushed around like having 10BB does. I don't play more than 4 tables, so I'll have started with 80BB in play. Any table that drops below 10BB, I take a hard look at the table and decide if its bad luck or if I'm the fish at that table (in which case I leave for greener pastures). I generally leave a table once I've doubled up as it puts too much of my BR in play and I'm ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): ftops hand - folding nut flush? There's a bunch of ways to look at this. Seeing as he's in the big blind, the range could be just about anything, although I'd guess not a premium hand by the check pre-flop, on the flop, and smooth calling the turn bet for 3/4 pot. So, I'd rule out KK, QQ to take out 2 possible boats and would expect a raise on the turn if he's trying to defend xT, so I think we can rule out many of the xT hands, with KT being a possibility and AT, JT, QT being fairly remote possibilities. The two hands I'd think him to have would be 66 or T6 and he's hoping that you are on a flush draw and catch on the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Poker and helping a friend..... The age old question about $$. Simple answer is never LEND money, that's what banks are for. However, if you really want to help him, then do so without any expectation of return. To ensure that the money goes where it should, have his car fixed for him and pay the bill directly. Then, be a REALLY good friend and tell/teach him what he NEEDS to hear, which is how to manage his finances. Whether someone makes 20K or 200K, the principle of spend less than you make is a priceless lesson that far too few people have learned. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
