Finally! A Conservative tries to get Conservatives to Realize the Online Gambling Ban is Wrong. If you're conservative and hang out here, you probably have the same thoughts I did. At its heart, gambling is as American as football (something to bet on) and stock exchanges (legal betting parlors). The entire American experience is a story of gamble after gamble, of risk after risk. It is a story of men and women who sailed across oceans looking for something that might not exist. Of families who picked up their possessions and headed out West, facing perilous danger, risking much for a possible reward of a new life in a faraway land. Of capitalism, which created all that we know ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): best places to live in US? Phoenix would fit what you seem to want pefectly. I love it here, it rarely gets below 50 degrees and the summer is not as bad as you would expect. Very similar to Vegas in fact, although much more in the way of sports if that matters to you. Low taxes, low cost of living in most areas, and unbelievable weather 9 months out of the year. Re(5): Professional poker player is not a career My personal health insurance is cheaper than getting it through my wife's, which is a big corporation. Either way, you pay for bennies. Maybe at a reduction, maybe not, but either way you pay something. (Like having to work for a big corporation, for instance). Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(7): Wanna get more pissed at the gov? Nothing to get upset at here, it was actually a surprisingly rational and law-based decision. Sounds like the Mister and Missus tried to get away with cheating the taxman and got caught - especially in regards to the non-pro (Mr.) trying to deduct his losses from income. Re(2): Shoving with low M Zpaceman has been making some of the best posts around for the last month or so, that I've noticed. Thank you, sir. Now on to the important issue that's been burning in my head for days.... When I am pronouncing your name in my head, should it be pronounced like "spaceman" or "zee-pace-man" or something else' Sorry, but for some reason every time I see your name I keep getting a picture in my head of some dude with a cheesy French accent holding a can of a certain brand of picante sauce and saying, "Oui, I am zee Pace-man." Re(3): Professional poker player is not a career So owning a small business is not a career' Bennies are paid for, just like anything else. Careers don't "offer" you benefits - when you receive benefits you have money being spent on you that would otherwise be in your paycheck. Same thing as purchasing them yourself. Re(2): How to play AK utg with m of 5ish? I had a very tight image at my table today in a $33 buyin and had the same situation happen twice, once with AK and once with AA. Both under the gun. Got called by ATs both times. Lost the 2nd one. But shoving is clearly the answer. Those that think weak aces (AT-AQ) don't call are playing much better players than I am. Re(3): Gigabet's Block Theory No, actually what I got out of his theory has been somewhat useful. I got out of it pretty much what the guy below me did. However, seeing as he (Gigabet) explained it as poorly as he did (on purpose, I imagine) and never responded to questions, who knows what he was really trying to say and (more importantly) whether or not he was just joking. Re(2): whats johnnys excuse this time Excellent post, sir. Which doesn't mean JB is not open to criticism. But show some fucking respect! You expect a response to "what's johnnys excuse this time'" - BS, he has done more in poker than you ever will. He owes you nothing. Perhaps a "I don't get your call here, can you help me understand sir'" might be better. I can't wait for the OP idiot to ask Phil M his excuse for trying a tough flop shot on the 18th with a 2-stroke lead - if he ever gets the opportunity. I think he'll respond kindly, lol. Re(4): Schooled by Professor Bax (Great hand, I think) Great post, Nutz. I cringe when I read people criticizing you, or anyone else for that matter, for posting hands like this. I, too, as a first impression thought this was a trivially easy call with your stack - and still believe it was - but the thought you put into the post made me think about at what point and vs what type of player it wouldn't be. That in itself is worth the trouble of having to read countless posts by players who aren't even in your league rip you apart. Also, and this is a compliment to mattg, when mattg says you are putting more thought into the hand than its worth, ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): my "cooler" article I thought your article was excellent - one of the better ones I've read on here. Your analysis of the hand showed me why you are a much better player than I can ever imagine being, and I like to think I'm fairly good at the level I play. The ability to put people on hands like that based on the action is sooo difficult for me, because I often find myself thinking "hell, who knows, he could have anything here, his play in the past shows no rhyme or reason to it." Question...do you believe it is easier to read a player who you expect to make plays with some semblance of a line of thinking ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Raymer - Libertarian VP? Very interesting. If the Libertarian Party would ever grow up a bit and market themselves a little better, I would have a new political home. Greg Raymer as VP would probably do wonders for online poker, ya think' I mean the VP has very little real power, but its not like this is an issue that would be too difficult to ram through in our favor.
