Re:P5'er Scott Montgomery Also, besides the benyamine hand, any money guy made on high stakes poker went to a charity. This mean he could A) break even B) lose 100ks. That being said, with the declining economy and less people frequenting Vegas, it is highly possible his company will do far worse in the future. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Spot late in $11 180 man turbo Whether or not his call is bad or not, depends entirely on how good/bad you are at shoving. If you are djk his call is good. If you are pearljammer his call is bad. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:huge stack early in large field tourney.. need advice Because effective stack sizes are all that matter, you shouldnt deviate from your normal strategy too much. Play speculative hands vs other large stacks from position. When the antes start try to use your stack as leverage vs other player. pwn the bubble, but basically play your normal game. Re:Flopped set goes south... raise 4k more on flop put him in on the turn. When ever your deciding on bet sizing try and think about the effective stack sizes on the turn and river. That being said you got the majority of the money in as a favorite and have to shove the river every time. If you raise more on the flop and the club hits on the turn you still have to shove. Even if he had the flush this time he is going broke with worse, and check folding is terribad. Check calling is also bad because you lose value from hands you beat/and call vs ones that beat you. As played to the river, river is played perfectly. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:November $4.40 comp I am down to do the competition anyway it is offered simply because i want motivation to play. Teams is more difficult because I dont have friends who plays 4.4s. If people really want to do this we can decide on something that will work for everyone. I will play the competition as it is currently, and I will play it if it is altered. Re:November $4.40 comp I only want in if its only a 4.4 competition. Why not do something like 4.4 competition one month, first 300 count, as do all scores. This is obv just a suggestion. Unlimited volume clearly wont work for everyone, but enough volume needs to be allowed for it to motivate those playing to get caked up. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Pokerstars Sunday $500 hand I honestly think his roi makes this fold. Anyone this bad is probably extremely passive late in tournaments when the blinds are high and absurdly loose/spewtastic in the first five levels. If his roi was like -17 percent or something i would seem him as more likely to spew in spots like this, but the only when to never win anything is pressing the fold button all the time. obv this also depends on sample size, but this is my 2 cents. Re:lilholdem purposely extending bubble.... i mean honestly intuatively Lil is the most brilliant ever......period. I remember mad people talking about how he didnt apply math to his ish etc. His comprehension of the poker is completely unfathomable. he read five pages of some book that told him to abuse live donkaments and fold monsters on the bbble. he didnt have a hi school ed and completely underestimaes his own intellegince. he wold be succesful in anything he did, and is the most brilliant EVERRR. no one gives him anywhere near enough credit. Re:Tricky spot in 50/50, 16 left ez call or fold? ...Now with Results paidchex i think there is something you do not fundamentally understand....This isnt a call because of being in the "danger zone", or lack of +cEV spots later. It is a call because done over and over it gets you chips. Making calls and shoves with a positive equity are what makes players good. Players who find these spots more than anyone else are the best players. People who have the mindset that "I will find a better spot later on" are the people good players take chips from over and over, constantly pressing any edge they can find. While there are arguments that say ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Hand vs Daisy XOXO in Big Double After watching DJK play a lot, and reading 2 plus 2 hi stakes forum a ton, I have been shoving a lot wider late position with 15-20bb. I havent adjusted my calling ranges as much because at the lower stakes i play, people shove sooooooooooo nitty. While the adjustment has helped my game a lot, it seems to me some some tourny players with really sick results are shoving so unoptimally. I watch tons of training vids and tons of players who seem to play sick post flop are really tight when shoving, why is this''' Are the videos from a month ago not relavent to the adjustments these players ... Re:Over 90% of the p5's top 100 would be losing players in.. first of all I think no one has realized he is talking about the TOP 100 and not 90 percent of pocketfivers. I think 90% of the top 100 would beat 2-4 immedietly. After adjusting to cash I think 90% would learn to beat 3-6, and the majority 5-10. I also think 10-20 percent would learn to beat 25-50 and higher if not more. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Hand vs AJK in 163 Thank you charder i thought i was going insane. There are so many hands that call a turn bet that check behind if you check to him. Your hand has way more value on the turn than just a bluff catcher. Also if you check call turn you have to call river, because i doubt he checks behind w/TT or 88 after the line you have taken. Re:Is a bad call on the river or is it just a cooler???? Bet more on flop. get it in on turn unless you know enough about him to know his turn reraise is always a set. Your right his absurd reraise on the turn really looks like 77, but vs a random you lose so much value here. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:am i supposed to call here late in 30k Dpottz when you are using the icm calc for a tournament do you just put the payout structure as 100 percent for first (assuming not at a ft). I have just been pretending only first pays, which should put it into chip equity mode correct' Also with stars flat ft payout structure, it seems to me that ICM is as important for ft play as anything. While its nice to play for the win, most decisions made at fts should be largely influenced by the icm that comes into play with the structure, correct' Sorry to derail thread.... Re:Is this a correct shove?? stars 10k A) This account was created so that i could play in a 4.4 competition. B) Because we have no reads we are not sure if the gap in his raise fold is large enough to ship any two profitably. C)If he is a descent player and views OP has a descent player, he could easily call with worse than AT. Even though this is probably not the case, people do randomly call with relatively weak holdings (sometimes correctly in a case like this) D) AT does better vs his calling range than any random hand. He easily could call with a hand like A9, KQ and many lower pairs. if he never does call with those hands ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Is this a correct shove?? stars 10k Everytime i read pocketfives i am so astounded about the amount of misinformation that is given on a consistent basis. It really is unfair for people who are trying to learn how to play poker to constantly be given bad advice. When i was first learning by reading other peoples posts, i would simply check there profile for big scores etc, unfortunetly results for the most part are meaningless. If i was the original poster id look at Eddie's profile and believe his advice to be solid, when in fact it is terrible. I really think a hi stakes forum is nessecary to protect the integrity of ... Re:Is this a correct shove?? stars 10k DONT LISTEN TO ANYONE WHO SAYS FOLD. That is so absurd. In midstakes tournaments one of the most profitable spots is reshipping on a late position raiser. While everyone knows they should steal the blinds, the average midstakes player raise folds way to often. For those of you who says this is a bad play, what opening/calling range do you give the button raiser. If he opens 22+, K9s+, QTo+, JTs+, A7s+, and calls 77+, AJ+, THIS IS SO PROFITABLE. Even if he opens a stupidly tighter range which he shouldnt (because open shipping any of the above hands is + chip EV), given the number of times ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
