Advice on Pre Flop Flush Draw Whether in cash games or tournaments, any time I have AX or KX suited, I try to see a flop. Should I ever raise pre flop with these kind of cards' If so, when should I do that' Do these cards like many callers, or better to trim the field with a raise' Early position play' Late position play' If someone raises 2x or 3x big blind pre flop, is this automatic fold if the other hole card is under a 10' What is the threshold for a call' Do you ever try to at least limp in for a flop with ANY two suited cards' Only from late position, or any position' What is the best play here' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:* * Help me find the best Tuesday Tournament in Vegas * * Venetian, no question! Deep stack, when I was there all last week, the prize pool was pretty darn good. For $150, you can scored over $7k for first place. Not a bad investment. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Whats the correct play here? I was playing 1-2 at the Venetian this weekend and I was holding Q-10 suited on the big blind, and there was a $10 bet pre flop, and I figured I would like to see a flop so I ponied up the additional $8. The flop comes Q-6-4 rainbow, with only one matching suit to my hole cards. With around $50 in the pot, I decided to push my top pair, a little and pop the pot $50, hoping to take it down right there. Everyone folds but an older guy, who appeared to be known (but not liked by the dealers), and has been scooping lots of pots, looks back at me and says ALL in, which is around $300-400 more and ... Re:All-New PPA letter to Congress - Please send it NOW Listen to this BS response I got from my senator: August 15, 2008 Dear Mr. XXXXXXX: Thank you for contacting me in support of keeping internet poker legal. Section 5363 of this title prohibits accepting any financial instrument or transaction, such as credit, electronic fund transfers, or check, in connection with internet gambling. Re:What is it about Phil Helmuth? That is an interesting point. So, possibly he gets ahead by consuming the fish, stacking their chips, and knowing how to stay out of the way of better players, which helps build his stack so in later rounds, he can use his stack size to make better moves. Has he ever competed in an "All Star Tournament", where ALL the players are solid' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:What is it about Phil Helmuth? I noticed that as well and wondered, how does this style of play help his tournament resutls' I can never understand why he does that. I cant help him get ahead in a tourny, so, why let people catch up. Unless, he is more fearless with tournament dollars compared to real dollars. Strange, yea' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

What is it about Phil Helmuth? No matter if you like him or hate him, you can not deny his success in the area of winning big tournaments. But, I have to wonder, why does he have such a hard time in ring games' What is so different in the approach that he can not over come' You would think someone with his talents would be eating up the cash games, but yet he continues to struggle. Other than throwing personal attacks at him, what exactly is it about his game that just doesnt translate into the cash game world' What do you see as his weaknesses in cash games, which translate into strength in tournaments' Hoping for an ... Re:Tony G's blog about Tiffany Michelle incident A couple of things. There seems to be a disconnect between what was said at the party, and what was written in the contract. Second, it appears there was a communication break down between TonyG/Pokernews and TM durring the contest, as it seems she was unware of TG/PN making deals on her behalf while she was playing. When your at a loud party and people are making promises and deals, all kinds of things can be said, and everyone of us would probably end the night by saying, draw up the contract and we will finalize everything we spoke about tonight. So, next day, you read contract and it ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Tiffany Michelle Interview on Pokerroad After hearing the interview, I think she is ok. I can understand WHY she did what she did. From the interview I get the impression that UB expressed in her from Day 1 before she was getting deep, and the deal she had with PN was not exclusive. She decided to go with the poker site that was supportive and interested from the beginning and decided go with them. IF she had done this with ANY other company except UB or AP, would we be talking about this at all' Would PN be looking to sue her' Doubt it. We can definately criticize her for chosing UB, but from the interview I can understand ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

After taxes (you loose like 30% of it off the top): 1) Invest half. 2) Pay off my bills. 3) Pay off parents bills. 4) Escrow enough to pay monthly living expenses for the rest of the year. 4) Hire either Allen Cunningham/Eric Seidel/Barry Greenstein to coach. 5) Use the rest to enter as many live and online tournaments as possible. Re:UB scandal: why isnt phil hellmuths name ever brought up You could say he *should* have known about it, but I have had "friends" who I thought I knew, end up involved in some heavy sh*t that I had no clue about and these guys were as close to me as brothers. I had no idea. So, it wouldnt surprise me that Phil is clueless to these issues. Im sure it will certain affect this relationship with him going forward, but as far as anyone can tell, Phil nor Annie really had any knowledge or involvement in the scandle. They may ALL be in on it, but, we really dont know at this point. Whereas Russ is for sure involved. Freddy was looking kind of ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Your best/most memorable day ever playing poker! I never... I never told anybody about this. But, eight, nine months ago, I'm at the Taj, it's late, and I see Johnny Chan walk in. And he goes, he sits. And the whole place stops when Johnny Chan walks in. Everybody puts an eye on him. After a little while, there wasn't a crap game going, 'cause all the high rollers are over there watching him. Some are playing with him, giving away their money to this guy to say. "Oh, I played with the World Champion." And you know what I did' I sat down. Played tight for an hour. I folded mostly, and then I made a score. Wired ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:So will this TIFFANY MICHELLE chick be the new moneymaker? No one is claiming she played the hand correctly, but she played it well cause she played the player and not the cards. She sensed weakness and she was right. She could have had 2-7 and it didnt matter. If the other guy had shown a little more agression sooner we probably wouldnt be having this discussion. 60-minutes online poker expose [Nat Arem] Nat Arem, I am 100% in support of online poker and believe it will survive, however, if you have been reading the forums lately, ALOT of people are having some REAL issues with getting payouts, and when they do, the checks have been bouncing. This is happening at most of the big name online poker sites, I have specifically seen references to FTP, AP, UB, BD, as well as a few others. This concerns me greatly.Much of the innuendo and ill feelings could be belayed if these sites were more open and communicative with their customers. If they are having problems because of the EUIGA or some third ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
