Re:Angle Shooting Knowing and fully understanding of the rules pertaining to your game should be a given for any poker player (we all know many don't understand them). With knowledge of the rules often comes the ability to subtly manipulate them in your favor. While this may be annoying or some may consider it "unethical" if you are not breaking the rules I see it as part of the game. Most common angle shoot I see in local card room. The room uses a betting line with the following rule. If during your action chips cross this line, either tossed or in your hand, they are considered a bet. The ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Serioulsy thinking of opening a live poker room I actually really like the idea of cool "while you wait" attractions. Put it in as part of a trendy bar scene adjacent to the room and you probably have a good income source. Of course along with additional fees for liquor license etc. As for generating rake, a rooms biggest generators are usually lower limit games. A typical $3/$6 limit game hits full rake (assuming 10% up to $4) around 75% of hands and gets out around 10 more hands per hour depending on dealer. The bigger the game gets, particularly NL the less it will actually bring in via rake (decision time up, number of hands ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:plo8 hand from Med. Scoop 2 His hand preflop ... Yes insta muck but not for LOT of players Calling down with set ... Well if you leave him almost 4:1 on flop and is no chance of low so is playing for entire pot of course he is calling. Given his stack I doubt he is folding anway. Flatting flop and firing on turn when doesn't pair looks super strong. If are going to raise flop has to be full pot. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Another AK PreFlop Question Recently played this hand in local NL cash game. After hand was some suggestion that I should have folded preflop but I don't think was ever point where seemed right to do so. Thoughts and advice would be appreciated. Table is 9 handed, I have been on table for sometime and have played very few hands. However, I honestly think only one of players (button) involved in this hand pay enough attention to have noticed this. Button is loose aggressive and has pretty much snap called all of my open raises. However he plays well post flop and has given my c-bets respect. Small Blind is uber ... Re:All this talk about taking a chance with your roll once in a while. I have a question? I like you have previously played without any type of bankroll management. Heck if I thought I would like the game I played. So when I decided to put money back online in Feb I was determined to do so within a solid bankroll management strategy. To account for the desire to take shots, I worked Jennifears cash out strategy into my plan as follows. I “cash out” according to the guidelines described by Jennifear on P5’s. However, as I am attempting to grow my bankroll rather than support myself at this time, all “cash outs” will be used for taking shots. Allowing myself to take shots should ... Re:Whats your ruling..... From the dealing days ... If action is HU then a player can expose one or both cards. If player 1 made no forward motion when exposing the hand the hand is live. Player 2 prematurely exposed his hand before the pot was awarded and thus is obligated to honor the bet announced. Or in this case $98 if player 1 decides to call. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:why no rebuys at WSOP this summer?? "I had a good conversation with Annie Duke. It was the first time I spent anytime with Annie and she had just finished an advisory meeting on WSOP issues. We talked about the end of the re-buy events at this year's WSOP. She made a lot of good points about how some players manipulated the situation by coluding and flipping to get more chips in play, and although I liked those events, by the end she had me convinced it was the right thing to do." Would have been an interesting conversation to listen in on. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Omaha question? Rather than waisting the time of p5 readers if you are simply going to ignore or belittle what they say, buy yourself a copy of . Perhaps then you will understand that while it is true that the disparity between hands preflop is not nearly as great as seen in hold-em, certain hands or hand types do play considerably better post flop (when the majority of money in deep stack PLO goes in). Therefore there is considerable value in building a pot via preflop raises when you have these holdings and position. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:couple of PLO8 turbo sng spots One of key things to me here is turbo. I have been doing a lot of experimenting with these recently and when it is time to go from very tight preflop to pick a hand and ride it out. First hand, do you know anything about villans raise standards' If he will raise with say KK, QQ or like so many players you see in these a A2xx hand I shove and ride it out. If he is tighter and likely to have AA hand I would wait for better spot. Second hand, I am folding. I don't like not having solid low draw, let alone good back up. Plus the A is not suited. Not so worried about position because are ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better These have became my favorite type of tournament and at least initially I am fairly happy with my results. But is always room for improvement. Something I am trying to understand is the raise and even reraise with A2xx type hand. Of course I play these hands ... and if in position & multi-way I might put in a small pot builder raise preflop. But get all my chips in play, especially fairly deep no. When I first started playing PLO8 tournaments I was really struggling to cash or run deep. One of the things that I altered and greatly increased my results was number of preflop raises. In ...
