Re(2): (online pros) whats the #1 thing an amateur should be doing to learn? +1 HSP is a great place to learn some nice moves to use against semi-smart villians. If you're playing uNL online though, the only way to go is just learn to play solid ABC TAG poker; next I'd learn to multi-table. Cardrunners is great too and well worth the $25/mo. Even if you're only playing uNL, you'll make you're money back for each month if you apply the stuff you learn. If you really want to learn and are willing to commit time to being a great player, CR's is the way to go. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Playing KK @ FT... What to do here??? Yeah, no way you're getting away from this here. AA vs. KK is always a "coolaaaa" and the first guy said. I would really consider pushing unless you know that you'll be able to let go of your pair on an a-high flop, which I think would be really tough to do considering your stack is so small. Being UTG, you wont have position after the flop either. Just go with a push here in the future. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Up for a weekly/biweekly micro game? I was sitting in class today thinking about poker (surprise surprise) and thought about starting up a regular game where micro to low stakes players could play at once or twice a week for an hour or two and then discuss the hands played. I think it'd be a great way for some of us small-time guys to really improve our game. So, anyone up for that' If you are, let me know what day(s) of the week you could play regularly as well as what limit you'd like to play. I think we should probably limit the limit to 10NL or 25NL so that the guys like me who are just building a roll but want to grow as ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Micro Cash 200+BB decision It's limped around to me in the sb and I have A6s. I complete and see a flop. (Pot is .25). Lol, yeah, I know, it's only 5NL. Flop is AK6 rainbow. I bet .20. It's folded around to the button who minraises to .40. I think for a minute and raise to $1.20. He minraises again. I push at this point and he calls with K6o. I scoop a 400bb pot worth a grand total of $19 minus the freggin $1 rake. I can pull up the HH if you need a visual. My ' is here should I think about mucking this hand on the flop' How about at 25NL, 50NL, 100NL' I can't put him on AA, KK, or 66 b/c of no pre/f raise and I ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): HU Cash or HU sng's? I play at PS, but obv they don't have tables specifically for HU. So, I sit down at an empty table and play with the next guy that sits down or I sit down at a table with only one guy at it. I usually keep playing until more than 3 people are sitting. HU SNG questionable play I've been playing TAG to a tee, so I would assume that guy has a TAG image of me. He's kind of loose/weak, but no real patterns that I can pick up on yet. On this hand, I value bet my pair on the flop and get called. On the turn, I check. Should I lead out again here' On the river, I check/call. After the guy's immediate check behind me on the turn, I couldn't help but put him on something I had beat. I went through all of the hands he could have played that way (didn't put him on a pr7's though), and made the call. Let me know what you think about my river play here. Thanks. PokerStars ... Re(1): HU Cash or HU sng's? I really appreciate all you folks responding. Right now I'm playing $5.25 HUsng's and .02/.05 HU; y'all are definitely right about the rake being rediculous at low-stakes cash. Best case scenario for rake at cash .50 for the $10 pot...and that's only if you get it all in at one time. So more often than not, I'm paying more in rake to win the same amount I would in an SNG. So, I'll take SNG's for now and start mixing it up with cash once I can play at the levels where the rake isn't so bad. One of you mentioned that there are different skill sets for HUsng's versus HUcash. What are the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

HU Cash or HU sng's? Which is easier to play (IYO obv)' What are the differences' Any input would be great! I enjoy playing (and have had short-term success) at both HU cash and sng's...learning the nuances are tough though. I pretty much go with my gut on most everything. Hopefully I'll get more concrete ideas the more I play. I read though the 2+2 HU forum's suggested threads on HU for a couple hours this morning and found some great stuff on there. If y'all know of any other solid sources for HU skills and info, post that up as well. Thanks. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Huge help for noob HU NLHE players How many times have you made it through an sng or mtt to the point where you are heads up and found yourself wondering how you were supposed to adjust your play to maximize EV' You've probably heard that being aggresive is the way to go and that you need to put pressure on your opponent. Sure, that sounds well and good, but what do you to when you only have 6 big blinds left with Q5sooooooted and the button shoves' Aggresssion won't do you much good there...but SAGE will. I'm not sure how many of you know about SAGE, but it's news to me. If you haven't heard of it, SAGE ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): For those of you in college, how do you balance poker and school? I'm taking a full load and work a p/t job, but I play roughly 2-3 hours a day and as much as possible on the weekends. But I know that at the end of the day, my poker money is staying online (I don't cash it out), so it's more or less just a hobby. When you're playing (and winning) Micro and low stakes for the money though, you have to figure out how much your time is worth. If you can make that "worth" playing poker, go for it. If not, get a job so you can have a bigger BR. Then go back and play to make that amount you came up with. Hope that helps. If any of this doesn't make sense, just ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): how do you tell if you are running bad? I've asked this question to myself quite a few times, but I think the best way to tell is to take a breather (go out and grab some food, do some work, yada yada yada), and then come back and look at your game. You don't need to wait until the next day or next week, just a half-hour is usually fine for me. Then, I look at my HH's to see if I was just taking beats or playing bad. If I was taking beats, I seem to be able to write it off a lot easier after the break. If I'm playing bad, I can be honest with myself that I wasn't doing well, and then I can fix my leaks. Hope that helps. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): $2 Mil Turbo Qualifier question The first hand looks like a semi-standard fold. An early position guy limp/pushes with very little fold equity. To me, that's only AA and KK, so I'd fold here with JJ. Second hand is a cooler, no doubt about it. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

.25/.5 LHE hand for discussion Not sure whether this goes in Hand Advice or here, but I'd really like some folks to diagnose my play here, both pre- and post-flop. Pre, I think I'm used to playing to much NLHE where I'd raise a hand like this. Let me know what I should do with suited small aces in late position. Flop, I raise and get reraised...feels like the guy either floped a set or has 2 pr, so I call (should I fold here') Turn, I check/fold. Should I bet out here' Thanks in advance for the help! Set mining in LHE You're in late position with a low-mid pp (44-88), one that will probably only hold up if you spike a set. Someone in early position raises. You get one flat call. What's your move' Let's say you call. There's another raise behind you from the sb and the original raiser raises again and caps the betting. You're reasonably sure you're up against at least one monster pair (AA, KK), maybe two. The only way you're going to win is with a set on the flop. How do you play in this situation' What factors help you decide how to play it' I'm a noob at LHE, so explain as much as you can about both ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

turbo 45-man bubble play ($1 and $3) I've been being pretty aggresive on the bubble, but most of the time I'm getting called down pretty light by a big stack and getting KO'ed or nearly KO'ed. So, what is the correct way to play the bubble in these in these positions: early, mid, late, button, and in the blinds' I usually have around an average stack, sometimes a little more...so assume an M of 7-10. Any help you guys could offer would be great! Thanks in advance. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
