micro grinders haven't played in a while - has the micro scene changed at all' also, I've been playing a few single table 9man games.. not the turbos. is it better to pass up the 60-40 type situations since you know you can get your money in quite easily as a heavy favorite at the micro stakes' I know this is all situation dependent.. but on balance situations like 55 in SB with 12 BBs.. raise in front of you.. push or wait for better spot' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:OT I need Help! (Finance Related) 0 = (3500)[(S1) - 4000/4000] - (550/4000)(S1) Your brackets are messed up... should look like: 0 = (3500)[(S1-4000)/4000)] - (550/4000)(S1) which gives you = (3500)*(S1/4000 - 1) - .1375(S1) = (3500/4000)S1 - 35000 - .1375(S1) =.875(S1) - 3500 - .1375(S1) Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Keeping busting in tournaments near the money. stealing the blinds is only worthwhile when they are large enough to help your stack. With a stack of around 10-20 BBs... it is crucial to steal blinds and antes.. especially around the bubble because ppl tend to tighten up to make the money. This is all read dependent.. you can usually tell who is afraid to bust and who is not. You shouldnt be trying to survive the bubble.. rather abusing it and using it to your advantage. If you bust doing so... oh well you need all the chips at some point. and read all of Bond18's articles in the archives Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Check-raised with 1010? I'm curious if there is an argument to check behind on the flop... only reason to c-bet is to gain information... but your risking like 1/6 of ur stack to do it... not getting much action from worse hands and not getting many better hands to fold.. as played looks like u are beat by some at least TP or better. I also raise less pre flop, between 2-2.5x is sufficient and u don't need to make such a big c-bet Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Getting into the market and investing... a diversified portfolio of low-load mutual funds or ETFs ... would not recommend stock investing unless you are willing to put a lot of time and effort into researching each company (you need at least 5 in different industries to have a diversified portfolio) I've always wanted to look into options to hedge stock positions... (protective puts and covered calls) might be interesting to research Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Soccer players/football kickers I played soccer and kicked for the varsity football team. W/o pads on.. I'd say quite a few soccer players could kick from ~50 w/ proper technique and practice. 60+ is a whole different story. With pads on and having to snap, hold and kick the ball in a very small time frame is 10x more difficult than kicking a ball w no one around. Add the pressure of your whole team depending on you, sitting on the sidelines for 99% of the game, and players on the other side of the ball trying to block you and its not longer just about leg strength. Kickers in the NFL are probably as good as it gets.. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Economics Its a mix of things. Mortgage lenders started getting greedy and giving mortages to people who obv could not afford to pay them back. In turn they started buying houses and the housing market boomed. The bubble eventually popped and this led to the terrible housing market. These mortgages were pooled into tricky investment vehicles which all the major banks bought up. Eventually the the people who took out the mortgages defaulted (subprime lending crisis) which led to the failure of those instruments the banks all bought up and billions of dollars of losses. These led to major write offs and ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:SNGs to Cash games spend more time studying than playing.. the biggest difference you will notice is how much AA, KK, AK, AQ, AJ go down in value, and PPs and SCs go up in value. You will surely notice this when your AA gets stacked off by a set of 5s and you realize what you thought your were betting for value turned out to be a bluff. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
