Re:Sportsbetting Questions well here's the thing, you need a decent win rate to break even. For example, say you place a bet with -110 as the odds. so to break even you need investment=profit. So to calculate the win rate you need to break even at -110, win rate = 1/(1/(110/100)+1) = 52.4% Furthermore, you can calculate this for any odds; however, if you're betting on an underdog you will generally get positive odds. For example, +175 or so. The calculation would look like this: 1/(1*175/100+1)=36.4% I'll also recommend having sites to get information. I use , , and . The first two are owned by the ... Re:Got an exam back today; didn't do as well as I had hoped (pic). The math was a typo, but that's not important. Secondly, M.I.T. is a prestigious school, but it may or may not be the best possible school for his major. I'm not sure what his major is, so I can't really comment. You can argue sample size since it was only one test, but I can't comment on the test material with regards to the class. However, I would imagine that a lot of the material must be applied on the test rather than just recalling old homework problems. I was just trying to put this douchebag in his place because the post came off as a brag post about a 26. I failed ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Got an exam back today; didn't do as well as I had hoped (pic). I'm a chemical engineering senior, so I'm aware of test averages in the 40's-50's. However, if your speculation is correct, then you scored 26 points less than the average. If the median is close to the average, it would show that more than half the class knew the material better than you. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Got an exam back today; didn't do as well as I had hoped (pic). "I know the material extremely well, and I even know how to practically apply it." This statement is contradicted by your test score. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:FF Keepers I think you have to keep Royal, Rodgers, and Johnson for the mere fact that you're not going to pick anyone better than them that late in the draft anyway. You shouldn't keep Stewart because 4th is a high draft pick to give up and d. williams gets equal/more carries than stewart. I'm not sure about jones because I think favre has a lot to do with Jones success, and favre's future is uncertain. I'd say this is closer than stewart, but I'd lean toward letting him go due to better opportunities in the first and second rounds. Posted in: Off Topic |

Cavs/Pistons Game Tonight I'm thinking about betting on the over on tonight's game. I looked on wagerline and the consensus is 62.9% under 190. However, after some research, I think the over is the right play. The last 5 games the cavs have averaged 105 ppg while allowing 93, and the pistons have averaged 95 ppg while allowing 96 in the last five games. My only reservation is that historically over the last 5 games the average total is 168 ppg between the both of them. What do you say OT' Do you listen to the last 5 games or do you follow wagerline's consensus pics and go with the past history between ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Obama's plan Socialization is not the answer. People have the right to have choices in their health care. I know I would not like the government to be responsible for when and what I can receive in terms of medical coverage. Cannucks come to the states for MRIs all the time. You can say the US doesn't have an official universal health care, but anyone who has life threatening illnesses will receive care, even illegal immigrants. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Obama's plan If the government implemented accountability to its social programs, the abuses of the system would dramatically decrease. For instance, if the government placed gpa requirements on financial aid, only those meeting the requirement would receive federal funds. Those not meeting the requirements would have funding cut and subsequently need to find alternative methods of paying for his/her education. Similary, this method could be applied to several government social programs to eliminate abuse. This would tremendously cut down on government spending and weed out the nondeserving recipients. Re:Obama's plan I'm assuming the people that you're referencing right now are those that are close to foreclosuring on their homes. If so, they accepted a mortage to pay for a house that they could not afford. They were not forced to accept these mortages. Why now should the government reach in to give them assistance to a mess that they got themselves into. When should they have to be accountable for making bad choices' Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Obama's plan You can be given/born into certain situations, but in the end, you are responsible for your own success in life. Some have it easier than others, but the government should not punish hard workers to reward lazy, unsuccessful people. The main difference between liberalism/conservatism is that conservatism believes in personal responsibility/accountability while liberalism believes every man should be equal despite their actions. Re:Obama's plan Obama and McCain's plans are different. McCain wants to lower the corporate tax rate from 35% to 25% while Barry wants to give a $3,000 tax break. Obama's plan of giving $3,000 to create jobs will not work. Whynot' First, jobs are created to increase a company's profits. For example, a company invests in an employee because they feel the investment will provide more productivity and make the company more profitable. Obama's plan of giving a $3,000 tax credit (don't read this as a tax-break) will not create the needed growth or extra funds to create jobs. His plan ... Posted in: Off Topic |
