Mohegan Sun Opens Poker Room Anyone else planning to go to the opening of the new poker room at Mohegan Sun' For years Foxwoods has screwed its poker players with rediculous "time" format of collecting from its no-limit players. Hopefully now that mohegan is opening up a poker room, creating some competition for foxwoods, they will stop acting like they are doing US the favor by having a poker room. Flopped a set of queens on a dangerous board I hate the flat call with QQ. People seem to be scared of QQ too much. I reraise preflop to something like 600. That shows you are committed to the hand and probably wins you the pot right there, unless he has AA, KK or MAYBE he calls with AK (not a good play IMO, but a lot of lower limit players do this). Its hard to say what to do on the rest of the streets, but on that flop, if he bets, I move in...if he is going to call you with AK or AJ, good...let him get all your chips in when he is behind. Also, with the UTG limper, I think you can rule out him having K-10, so unless he has AA, then ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

what hands on the short stack 90% of this decision is based on your position at the table. If you are asking such an elementary question (which isnt to say that its a bad question), you should take a look in the strategy archive and you can probably find some random threads using the search feature that give you detailed hand listings or something, but the basic concept is that the later position, the looser you can be. For example, with less than 10 big blinds, I might push with 22 or 33 from the button or the cutoff, but I would probably fold those hands from UTG. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Help Please - Should I Push This? IMO, the limp from the button 3-handed is a TERRIBLE play, unless he has AA or something and is trying to induce you to push or the 3rd player to isolate. With no read of the players at the table, I would probably push here. Even if he limper has something like 55 or A-9, A-10, I think you are short enough on chips that you have to race and pray! Hell, even if he has AA, youre not that far behind. The worst case would be if he had QQ or JJ and BOY would limping be terrible with either of those hands. General strategy question for MTT specialists This is a great question! A lot is going to depend on your style of play. For me, I like to be more aggressive around this time. I will raise with any ace, any pair, or any 2 face cards, particularly when the shorty is in the blinds. If he has 10BB and 1 in the pot already, put in antes and your raise and he is forced to push all-in with almost any 2 because of the odds, so if you know he is likley to push in with any 2, then you can really open up your range. Should I of smooth called here? (AA) LOL @ him folding JJ...no f'ing way, unless you were playing like a ROCK. These situations are mostly read dependent. Normally I would raise. Maybe to something like 25k though. Also, if your opponants are good, you might just flat call, hoping one of them will try a squeese play. If you have opponents that are really aggressive on the button (as many good players are), you flat call, they raise on the button, no matter what the initial raiser does, you can move in and then you either win a nice pot or get all your money in while youre ahead! fold/raise here? I would fold here, mostly because of the money bubble. You still have several very large stacks behind you. If someone in 3rd position raised and I was on the button, my raising range would be HUGE around the money bubble. So what do you do if you get raised' If you were on the button and someone had raised in front of you, I might REraise, but I am folding out of position with 3 big stacks left behind you. Most good players would raise you with a fairly wide range in position here, especially if you have been playing tight. They figure you will probably fold unless you happen to have a HUGE ... Where does Kimbo Slice go now? I would hate to see what Kimbo or Lesner would do with a little BJJ training. I think without it, they arent going to get very far (as we saw with Brock) but even if they just learn to defend AGAINST BJJ, I think they (especially brock) could be very dangerous. Obama's speech this morning about race Funny that Obama would make this speech considering that the ONLY reason he has been this successful is because he is black. No other 1-term, senator with no real political or professional record could EVER run and even be taken seriously. Its also a little bit of the democrats wanting a liberal, but HATING Hillary. Who do all of the players who make there income on poker vote in the presidential campaign? Most of the time they vote democrat...both because they are young (a high majority of young people vote democrat) and because dems tend to protect gambling. THey SHOULD be voting republican because they dems also raise taxes on their winnings. Truthfully, most of them just dont vote. People under 25 have the lowest voter turnout of any group. The truth about the puppy video... As many of you know, I work for the Central Intelligence Agency. The Agency was very concerned about keeping this video under wraps, god knows we dont need anymore scandals involving the military. We did our own investigation including talking to the parties involved and came to the conclusion that the video was fake. Tryin to plug a huge leak in my game... Ok, so I havent made a serious poker-related post in a long time, but I think this is a great question and I will add my 2 cents. In the late stages of a tournament most of your pots are going to be won without a showdown. This means that steals and re-steals become more important. If it folds around to me in the SB late in a tourney, I am going to raise with a HUGE range of hands (unless the big blind happens to be ultra aggressive).
