Running deep and coin flips
Short answer is that you should be reshipping less then ak with 15-20bb and look to pick up these pots without a flop. I'd recommend joining a training site and watch how the pros play stack sizes and incorporate that into your game. There are so many reship spots through tournaments that you'll pick up a lot of chips easily. I haven't read many books that talk about these spots so the best way to learn them is to watch vids and practice practice practice. You have to win the flips and 60/40 to win tournaments, late in a tournament where all the money is at the top it's best to be ...

Little one on the way and a Full Time player.....Can it be done?
Wow that was really helpful. If the guy was a software programmer, worked from home and held regular meetings and was asking "how do I balance the two" would you say the same thing' It's a valid question. He's not saying he is going to neglect his child, in fact it's quite the opposite, he's asking for help from others that might be in the same situation.

Misclick in a Venetian Deep Stack!
Pretty funny, watched this happen at a Venetian DSE 2 years ago. Player was too busy watching TV while throwing a "600" bet out, the entire table knew what he had done. Another player in the hand went all in with AK and busted the guy that misclicked.

Reasons for my success?
good points cracker! I had been on a pretty bad downswing live, a ton of bad beats in key spots, and was overall feeling pretty shitty about my game even though I had been putting in a lot of work at improving. I luckily have a good group of friends that try and stay positive for me. The 2 times I binked something recently I was very positive, feeling confident, and just knew that a win was coming. I loaded a ton of screens so even if I took a beat in one I couldn't dwell on it and something positive would likely happen in another tournament. On Sunday when I hit a small win I started the ...

Monitor question
1280x768 is typically the max res of 32" TV's unless you got a 1080p TV in which case you'd be able to go to 1920x1080. Are you sure your laptop is the limiting factor' I'm on a laptop from 6 years ago and it's able to output at 1920x1080. Check the specs of the TV.

Bax and Sheets at the FT on FTP 1k
Good work Sheets and Bax. Watched from 27 on down to the final 3 and it certainly looked like you two were controlling the action. I think sheets 3 bet or 4 bet 3 hands in a row to build up his stack without showdown. This definitely calls for a dual Sheets and Bax video, the last one was excellent.

do you play differently live and online?
This is the nuts. Also the size of your reship can typically be less live and still effective. For example a lot of people will raise fold AQ versus a 15bb reship live, where online they can't call quick enough.

2011 Feb Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza... no NAPT this year?
The Venetian contact over on the other site said no NAPT this year due to legal issues, if I remember correctly. There were issues last year when they hosted and the gaming commission had a problem with them holding an online site's land based tournament in the casino.

Best 30" monitor
Take a look at the HP LP3065, it's a 30" S-IPS monitor with 2560x1600 resolution. You can find them on ebay for $850-$1000. Definitely a winner if you need a ton of real estate.

Where next from the 9man sngs?
Play the 90man KO's on FT. You start with 3K chips, they play fairly quickly and you get all stages of a MTT plus you need to be in the top 10% to cash just like a MTT, unlike a SNG where you are playing to survive.

Re:Winning Poker Tournaments One Hand at a Time the book?
If you can't find it locally, I recommend you buy both versions 1 and 2 online, great books. You might want to keep the studying for away from the table too, you'll be more likely to take in what you are reading and play better while you are not reading. Do you have Borders in your area' Any gaming supply stores'

All new videos posted are in web browser and download form. I watch them on my HTC touch pro and you should have no issue watching them on your itouch. On an old ipod video the stacks/bets are tough to see, but it will look great on your touch. All the vids in at aleast the last 6 months have been in downloadable form and some old content was converted, there will be more then enough vids for you to download. It really passes the time on planes and trips.

One of the better books out there on tournament hold em, especially as it related to online. It may open your eyes to spots that don't always seem standard. Looking forward to volume 2. If you like the book you might try signing up for PxF, the authors are instructors there.

Re:Best place to buy poker chips
Go to and read up on all the various options. If you want custom chips for your league and don't want to spend a fortune then you have a couple options, there are china clay chips you can relabel, china clays that you can order with custom labels, ceramics, or ASM can set you up with custom clay chips with your own spot patterns and inlays. At chiptalk they have a sampler pack with some 40+ chips in it to get an idea of what is out there for the cost of shipping (currently sold out, but they are putting new packs together). For completely custom, ceramics are going to be your best bet ...

Re:30 inch monitor
The HP LP 3065 is a great monitor, especially if you play poker and video games. It uses a S-IPS panel which is one of the best you can find in the consumer space. Here is a link to a debranded LP 3065 with 90 day warranty for $750: There are others on ebay ranging from 30day-90day-1 year-3 year warranties, new/used/refurbished. I currently run this as my primary monitor and haven't seen anything better out there for the price.
