Re:LHE on FTP
I don't play at Stars but I do at FTP. There are also about 3 players on average to the flop. I wouldn't call this ridiculously tight (I'm only talking about 6max here). I think most 6max hands should end up HU and sometimes 3-handed. Edit: I just reread your post and noticed you said full ring, sorry I don't play those but I'd guess FTP is looser.

32% over 1999 tourneys. I've switched back to 6max LHE though. That way I get to play 35% of hands and not be as much of a spewtard.

Re:Charlottetown PEI - Live Poker
I don't think you'll get many people at all who've heard of PEI. Fortunately, though, I'm from PEI :) I've played at the Racino a few times, they typically play 1/2 NL ($200 max buy-in) and occasionally 5/5 when there's enough interest. I believe they have ~4 tables. I've since moved to Edmonton so I haven't played there in a little over a year but the play was pretty bad/soft back then (and I was a much much worse player at the time too). GL.

Re:Who crushes tourneys avg buyin around $25?
I assume you are referring to my post. First of all, the OP asked who is crushing. I didn't know what is considered crushing but thought that my stats might fit the criterion. Secondly, I misread the question. I thought he was asking who crushed tournaments with a buy-in of around $25 (I play primarily on FTP and the $24+$2 are the closest). After rereading the OP, I found out that the player should have an average buy-in of around $25.

Re:I continue my live 20/40 LIMIT at the Taj experiment
No offense, but if you go on tilt and donk off money from one overpair being cracked at LHE (not to mention LIVE), then you should probably stay away from the game. If the game is playing loose, I wouldn't be surprised if your overpairs were cracked 1/3 of the time or more. Obviously you haven't seen just how sick variance is in LHE yet (it's not pretty). Do you play LHE online'

Re:Is there such a thing as flawless play?
Sorry, I realized I didn't explain things very well (I wrote it late last night and was very tired). The "optimal strategy" you speak of where you take all given information and make the most profitable play is playing an "exploitive strategy". When I say "optimal strategy", I'm referring to Game Theory Optimal (GTO; see Bryce's 2p2 articles above). And yes, like you suggested, I'm speaking of a strategy that falls out from a Nash Equilibrium (actually epsilon-Nash because we need to approximate it with a computer). There are infinitely many ...

Re:Is there such a thing as flawless play?
This! (although I don't really agree with the way you said there are two types of play). I just started the second year of my Master's at UofA in the CPRG (Computer Poker Research Group), home of Polaris. Polaris is a game theory-based AI that plays HU limit hold'em. We demonstrated this summer that it is on par with or better than the best HU LHE players in the world. The cool thing about constructing a game theory-based strategy is that even if you gave your opponent your exact strategy, he wouldn't be able to exploit you at all (hence, optimal play). It basically balances ...

You have to give the frequencies of overcards vs. PP and overpair vs. underpair (since 50/50 in the first case and 80/20 in the second).

Re:nasty runner runner's in 3 straight tournies
this! You lost 3 coinflips in a row (remember, you were all-in preflop, not on the flop, so runner runners don't matter here). The probability of this happening is about (50%)^3 = (1/2)^3 = 1/8 = 12.5%. Complaining about losing 3 coinflips is almost equivalent to complaining about AA < 22 once. Obv this happens to everybody. It sucks that you lost 3 coinflips in a row but honestly, that's poker...

Re:Mothers just don't understand...
If your mother doesn't know the difference between poker and table games, don't start her off with Sklansky, Harrington or other books that assume some basic knowledge of the rules and semantics of poker. The first poker book that I've read (accumulated over 50 now) was "Phil Gordon's Little Green Book". Now, this book obv won't be of much use for you but I think it is definitely the best book to give an introduction to poker (i.e. for your mother). Also, it's a much easier read than something like Harrington (don't get me wrong, I love Harrington). I ...

Re:Playing Back At A Limit Player?
I think when Andy says "supposed to", he means if the game is being played properly (as opposed to a low-limit live setting, where it most certainly isn't). That being said, there are conflicting reasons for both tightening up and loosening up you range in a live setting. The reason for loosening up is that people call too liberally, play too passively, and make many mistakes (as well as you having position on the the whole hand, obv). A reason for tightening up may because the blinds are calling stations and if you aren't too experienced, it may be difficult to determine ...

Re:Playing Back At A Limit Player?
Defending with Q4o vs. an aggressive BTN open is fine (pretty sure this exact hand is discussed in the "Blind Defense" section in Stoxtrader's LHE book). Check/raise/capping with BP is very spewy. If you thought that this aggressive stealer would fire several barrels unimproved, then you can just check/call down. If you snap off a bluff on the river, you also make a stand and send an image. Against an opening range of the top 30-40% OTB, you still only have about 50-52% equity vs. his range (and you're playing OOP). As played, if you were trying to rep a set by capping the ...
