Is Enough Noise Being Made @ the WSOP About the FT Situation?
The idea of just being patient and not rocking the boat long enough for them to make it up on non-US rake was nice for the first couple of weeks. At this point the players really need legal representation, especially with the Ivey lawsuit being filed. Kind of need to get something on record in case some day there's a judge somewhere in bankruptcy court trying to figure out the breakdown.

There are a host of security requirements to be sure, but most of them can be addressed with off-the-shelf products by now. I believe this is the entropy source that PokerStars uses for their fair shuffle: Besides the RNG, you need to make sure updates are cryptographically signed, that the transport stream uses SSL with certificate authentication, and offer players token authentication. You actually just named some of the more basic components involved (maybe with the exception of database integrity). The hardest bits mainly involve concurrency/fault tolerance and scalability. We can agree that Ferguson's experience at UCLA (where, according to Wikipedia, his PhD was focused around virtual network algorithms) would have been a huge help in architecting FTP. I'm sure he spent plenty of time there studying distributed algorithms that would have been key in getting poker working at a massive scale.

One theory that I haven't seen voiced yet that might deserve some consideration would be that FTP has funds buried away in the tax havens that needs to be cleaned before it can be dispersed. In which case they could still conceivably move it through a so-called "investor". Any chance of that' I have a hard time believing that FTP can't cover the customer deposits, but perhaps the phantom deposits and the wild marketing budget made a bigger dent than I realize.

Array Programming Help Sought
Pretty poor style and you'd never really do it like this and bother storing in the arrays to begin with in the real world, but something like this I guess I made some assumptions but you should be able to modify to suit: array dimensions are square numbers are integers lower and upper bounds are exclusive

you always strike out your first time at bat, so I say you should just cut your losses on this one and move on to your next idea. After reading this, I feel a little better about the iPoker bill not passing
thinking about the type of fish that Harrah's marketing could bring makes it seem like a pretty easy compromise to me. take a year and a half off and go see Thailand or w/e. I think people should be thinking a bit more long term here. that said, I think it has a snowball's chance so you guys can probably rest easy and keep grinding out those sngs for another couple of years until the banks really do stop cashing your checks and taking your wires.
