P5's Training discussion. Top pair on a strange board. Re-thinking conventional lines I think this is one of those rare situations where I would check-call the flop and then lead out the turn. I like the check on the flop to induce continuation bets. The turn card seems pretty good for one since the only hands that get there are J9 and 99 (and the odd 93, or J3). I don't like checking this turn for a fewof reasons: (1) I don't want to give the villian a free card option since there are a number of draws; (2) in keeping with the previous reason, I want to charge the villian to draw out when I have the best hand; and (3) check-calling seems too weak here and basically leaves us ... Stars completes FTP takeover, working on public announcement!? Weird - I can't fathom that Gambling911 had a legimate reason to file a motion to intervene unless they had some kind of stake in the outcome of a particular case. Moreover, it says they filed in 2009 in connection with a probe, well before Black Friday. I don't get it either. Hope they're right about the deal, tho. Posted in: Poker Sites |

TT hand I butchered... What's the best line? As played I think I would bet a bit more on the flop to make him pay to draw to overcards, like $450. Otherwise I think I'd play it the same. But, I would almost never flat with TT here against a random opponent. Think about your best flop situations for a moment. Obviously a T in the flop is ideal. Barring that, the best flops you might want to see include the one you got. Clearly flops with two or even three overcards put you in a bad situation. So you have a really good flop for your hand, and you either win a smallish pot with a flop bet or your opponent calls and then you are still ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

DOJ turns down Stars offer of 700M last Monday? True enough, but when dealing with DOJ and the US Attorneys you also have to factor in that most of them want to do whatever makes them look best to the public at large. These people tend to be political animals who want to advance their careers more than anything else. Your cynicism is appropriate. Posted in: Poker Sites |

What to do with these aces? In low stakes cash games I tend to assume my opponents are not that bright and will overplay their hands. That said, I'm not folding here. I raise and make them pay to draw out. Of course that's easy to say in retrospect, but the point here is that you're playing low stakes and you probably should give players less credit until they prove they know what they're doing. Thoughts on omaha hi hand Yeah, those guys who will bluff with the over bet exist at low level PLO. Definitely a fun game so keep playing and working on your game. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Is this game beatable? (Live PLO) Sounds beatable by a good enough player. Juicy even. But also high variance. So find a backer maybe' Posted in: Live Poker |

Thoughts on omaha hi hand Agree with the prior posters; fold this pre. As played fold flop. By the river, this is an easy fold as your not getting good enough odds to call here (and probably not on the turn either). As noted above, bottom set us just an invitation to lose money in Omaha. I suspect he made a straight on the river or has a better set. BTW - Your HH says you have the Ac and it's on the flop. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Article: Everleaf Gets Cease and Desist Letter from Homeland Security, Pulls Out of U Interesting. My first thought when I saw this was "what does Homeland Security care about here'" DOJ makes sense. But DHS' This whole thing strikes me as weird. Not that anyone should put real credence into rumors at this point. Posted in: vBCms Comments |

Article: Full Tilt Poker May Have $128 Million in Uncollected Funds Agreed. On another note - Dear Aldernay Gaming Council, If you can't find a way to get FTP up and running again all of the players, not just the now banned US players, will lose most if not all of the money they had on FTP. Please figure something out ASAP. Sincerely, The Baby Bull Posted in: vBCms Comments |

Small Pairs OOP, Best Play? I'd fold this pre b/c it's really only good for a set mine and you're not likely to get paid off against just one player to make the set mine worth it. Early in a tourney I'm not going to defend my blind with small pairs against one person. I just don't think the upside is there. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Full Tilt Poker Funds Partially Unfrozen I remain optimistic that we will get our money eventually. But, If I was a new player who had the choice to play mostly on FT or PS, I think it's clear that I'd feel better having my money on PS since they are keeping player funds in segregated accounts. New UB cheating/scandal discovered Not quite correct. Greg Raymer has explained this before in connection with the Dutch Boyd poker site failure and it's worth repeating here. Player funds are held in trust for the player. The site is not a bank and does not have the legal right to use the money as it sees fit while it merely holds the money in trust for the player. If Annie got a loan from player funds it would be a serious breach of the trust. However, once the money is "paid" to the site via rake or tourney fees the site can do with it as they please obviously. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
