50 cubed fulltilt: gross spot
I think I prob bet the flop here, I realise it's an easy board to get check raised on but you can still call and see what happens on turn. If he does raise flop and then check raises on that turn, it's tough to see you being ahead. The way it's played though, he's obv not re raising this turn with a ten, so we can say that he either has trips like you(unlikely) or a better hand i.e. flopped flush, or set on flop, turned boat(bluff may be in his range too but very small percentage). I think I do raise the turn like you though, to protect against spades and poss get value from worse hands ...

mathclub alive?
I can personally vouch for him being alive firstly, and secondly that his foot is fine, having taken him to the ER along with Puggy82. I think you can currently find him Rush Pokering and US opening! I was 6 beers deep at the time of the incident and was considering pulling some moves on the 40 year old, female Doctor, but 'bottled it'! Dom you'd have definitely been interested.......right in your age bracket mate!!

Re:How many tables?
Is that supposed to be funny' I gave a brief outline because if I just asked "How many tables should I be playing'" then people would be asking a lot more questions.

How many tables?
I've been playing professionally for about a year now and the number of tables I play at any one time has steadily risen as I have progressed. Recently I have been playing 14-15 tables and I definitely think that is too many for me to play optimally. If we play mid stakes, how many tables does everyone think is best, for a regular weekday and then for a Sunday'

Advice on Laptops....
I am thinking about getting a new laptop and was hoping for some suggestions. I won't be playing from it on a daily basis but when I travel I will use it to play on. I have always used windows computers but I have an open mind towards Mac's if they are the right way to go. Im looking to spend around $1k a few hundred more, or less, is fine. Other than that I don't really have any other requirements, so suggestions are welcomed. Thanks

Re:How much $$$$ in a lump sum would you require to never play again?
You say there is more to life than poker and yes thats true but then you could say that about any job in which you make a lot of money, they both need a lot of hours of work and dedication. Also the amount of money that can be made by good players playing this game can rival, if not better, most careers, while still carrying the competitive edge that most people are looking for in life. The fact that the game is always changing, gives rise to an almost constant rate of adaptation, that I think would be hard to find in most other jobs. Right now I'd take 1 million I think but its tricky!

Re:Set Mining profitability
Completely agree, there is no way your decision should waver post flop, it doesn't matter what the villain has(could have) in this spot, its fold or shove imo.

Re:Set Mining profitability
With his stack, this would be a terrible play with either of those hands! However, I suppose you cant completely rule it out, but the chances in this case, I think are minute.

Re:Set Mining profitability
I thought it was quite an interesting one really strictly because of the ridiculous bet sizing pre flop so I thought I'd run a few numbers. Hero 20,855 Villain 11,890 Player1 15,950 Blinds are 400/800 no antes Pot (1200) Hero bets 1,799 (19056) Player 1 c 1,799 (14151) Villain r 2,798 (9092) here the pot is now (7,596) It is 999 more to call in to 7,596, so you are getting 7.6 to 1 to make the call. Odds of hitting your set on the flop,12% chance of hitting your set giving set mining odds of around 7.5 to 1. i.e. you are getting the correct odds to call right now. So you call ...

Re:What is your play here.....tough spot
You just can't call pre flop in this position with that stack, limping is just a no no, you have an M of less then 7, its a fold or a shove. Folding is fine here, but if you shove and everyone folds you pick up 560 chips and add 1/3 to your stack without a showdown and if you are called j9s plays well in situations vs high cards. As it is you have limped and there's been a shove and a call. All you have is a draw, you have a max of 8 cards to hit and some of them may be being used, its a definate fold.
