This reminded me of an event that happened on UB in Jan. '06. User "wutruttryin2hit" posted this on 2+2 yesterday: "I remember like 2 years ago UB had a 1 million guaranteed tourney and it was a big deal for them and Annie Duke did a webcast for it, but her boyfriend won it, using an account registered to her apparently, it seemed shady to me. Not that there was cheating probably, but it's like Lee Jones' wife winning the sunday mill, can't even imagine that happening on Stars."

Dealing with offshore accounts is risky. Lots of shady people. I know from experience. It's not cheap either. Plus, you'll have to create an address there. It can be done, and done easily, just be careful and think it through. Don't forget that the Treasury Dept monitors your bank account and knows when offshore money moves into your bank account. So let's say you pull money out of your Panamanian bank account into your Bank of America account. Treasury flags the account. IRS, a part of Treasury, does the same. You see where this is leading. There are other implications so think it through.

Steve, A state can "burden" interstate commerce if its reasons are deemed good enough. You sound like a law student, so do some research on it. Fascinating topic, but I guess this isn't the place for it.

You'll most likely lose in Court. Not only becuase you don't have standing to sue, but also because no Court will find that Washington's true motive is to restrict interstate commerce.

Maybe they don't have the money. Im waiting for a refund and a one week old cashout request. Does anybody know what UB does with deposits' Stars supposedly places all deposits in the bank. Maybe a UB rep here knows if UB takes the money and earns interest on it, or invests it, or uses the accounts as collateral. I am just curious.

I might be wrong but I think it failed last time because Tom Delay required a 2/3 vote for passage. He was one of the Congressman owned by Abramoff. I dont think there will be a 2/3 requirement this time. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think I already said that. Try focusing your article on methods of getting around the law. It is pointless to argue about the law if the poker sites decide that they will just ban American players, which is what Poker Stars said they will do.

Bizz, Reality is what I was reffering to. I'm not interested in theory, since I do make money from online poker, like many people here, and would hate to see it go away. To answer your questions: 1.) No, Neteller and Firepay would be branded third party facilitators, or something similar. Banks would stop doing business with them. Additionally, Neteller and Firepay would likely voluntarily develop internal controls to prevent American customers from funding gambling accounts. 2.) Yes, you can establish an offshore identity and bank account. The cost can be high if you want it done right. ...

Ok, what do you think the bill would actually do' What do you think its backers intend to do' You dont think Amercian players would try to cash out if passage is imminent' You dont think casinos back the bill' Why not' Do you think they like $12 billion of gambling money going offshore' Where is there evidence that casinos are against the bill' Please post the link. The actual implications are that the bill would shut off online poker to Amercian players. If you disagree please say why, I would like to know.

The bill is strongly backed by the Christian Right and, to a lesser extent, by the casinos. I had a list of organizations supporting the bill, and it included very powerful christian groups. No way are they being stopped in an election year. You also have to remember that casinos own the democrat minority leader, Nevada Senator Harry Reid. Put that combination together, and you can see where this bill is going. It will be fun to see the run on the poker sites, when everybody tries to cash out.

The WTO "ruled" that the US can't prohibit internet gambling, but since they have no power over what we do, it doesn't matter. Practically, how could the authorities enforce a ban' I think what they plan on doing is cutting you off from your money, basically making it illegal for your bank or other financial institution which serves American consumers from paying to or accepting payment from any gambling site or any third party (Firepay or Neteller) that facilitates the financing of internet gambling. It is not really a sng. It is a 180 man $20 tourney. Approach like you would any tourney. Lots of bad players, so you probably will get paid off when you hit something. Keep that in mind. Really loosen up and steal pots later. Standard play.

UB bad customer service?
I don't think so. Their servers were foulded up last night, but I still managed to play in a bunch of tourneys. I checked today and they refunded all of my buy ins without me even asking. Not the first time either. Give them some credit.
