Cash Games or Mtts Couple things to answer your questions: For the best profit return overall I would say that cash games offer this to you as most good cash game players can make more than a good tournament player (great cash game players make more than great tournament players etc..). That being said though the style that wins in sngs is better suited for MTTs, expecially late. Dealing with a shorter stack and looking for spots to get your chips in good is much different than a cash games. In cash games you generally are sitting on 100bb stacks and there is a much different hand value that you should be ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:why does everyone have a backer these days. Obviously if you had the roll to play every tournament you want to play and can effectively deal with the swings in variance then it would be best for you to have all your action. This is just not all that common though. I would think you would backed for the following reasons: 1. Moving up in stakes and don't quite have the roll 2. You have poor bankroll management, whether this means you buy into tournaments that are above your bankroll or as soon as you do bink something you go blow half the money on a new car, vacation, playing games in the pit, playing highstakes cash, etc... You ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Vegas hotels during WSOP I stayed at Harrah's once a few years back before they did some renovations and the only beef I would have with them is their rooms aren't the best, but definately clean and fine if you are just going to be sleeping their. I would also agree that it is in a great location (next to Venetian, across the street from Bellagio and Caesars). If you are looking for location above all else they would probably be the best cheaper alternative. Posted in: Poker Community |

Re:Vegas hotels during WSOP As someone that has been to vegas several times and stayed at several different places I would suggest Monte Carlo if you are looking for the best cheap alternative. Now that Aria is open they have a tram that takes you straight from Monte Carlo to Bellagio, so the fact that is a bit down the strip doesn't matter much. I found the rooms to be much better than Imperial Palace and Luxor. Posted in: Poker Community |

Re:Are people grinding the sngs on stars losing out..... I tried posting yesterday, but it doesn't show, possibly due to me stating a separate rakeback site than is recommended on the home page, but there are sites out there that will assist you in getting rakeback on sites in which you already have an account. I know some people say email full tilt and ask them, but some sites will do the work for you. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:What is the point in "Chipstar" being a pokerstars online pro??? I am pretty sure that I read on 2+2 that he had played something like 1 million hands at .01-.02 nl on pokerstars and he essentially plays the small stakes. He is apparently quite active on 2+2 and is active in the online poker community. I suppose he is not really a "pro" but he does bring a different element to the table for pokerstars. I guess they are essentially rewarding him for being loyal to the site and feel that he is good for their site and is a good representation for online poker. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Anyone else waiting on bodog? I had a payout from May31, June 5, and first week of July. I started e-mailing in mid July. After about 5 e-mails back and forth they finally told me it would be on its way about a week ago. I got a tracking number on Friday and received my check on Monday, which had the total of all three of my cashouts on it. The check was printed on 8/1/08, so it wasn't like there were any shipping problems. Essentially they waited 2 months until they decided to write my check. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

full tilt hand histories I recently bought a new laptop and for some reason full tilt will not save the hand histories to my computer. It did on my desktop, but will not with the laptop. Re(3): Mirage FT<------------------------- I can not speak for anyone, but I think most people are comparing apples to oranges when it comes to Phil Ivey. Ivey is widely considered to be the best poker player in the world by "live" pros. I do not believe this image comes from his tournament play, much less his NL tournament play (has 0 WPT titles, all WSOP bracelets are in mixed games, omaha, or stud variations). With that being said I believe Ivey may be the best player in the world as many people say, but at the same time I do not believe for him to be the best NL tourney player. Ivey grew up playing different variations of poker, ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): small flop bet to 3 bet all in im not sure, but I think that both he and the original raiser had around 30k. If he leads at the pot for the 8k or so thats in the pot, a raise is usually to 20k+ and a 3 bet has no fold equity, even if the player thinks he is beat he will not fold for 6 to 8k more when there is 50k in the pot with a hand such as top pair top kicker as he had. therefore, if bel0w leads for 4k and is then raised to 12k, he can make it 30k (18k more). Now it is 18k more into a 40-45k. The other play can much more easily lay down top pair, top kicker at this point as they would still have enough chips to ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
